< Lucas 9 >
1 Inayabanna dagiti sangapulo ket dua, ken inikkanna isuda iti pannakabalin ken turay kadagiti amin nga demonio ken mangagas kadagiti saksakit.
Jesus called the Twelve together, and gave them power and authority over all demons, as well as to cure diseases.
2 Imbaonna isuda nga rumuar nga mangikasaba iti pagarian ti Dios ken mannpaimbag kadagiti masakit.
He sent them out as his messengers, to proclaim the kingdom of God, and to work cures.
3 Kinunana kadakuada “Dikayo mangitugot iti uray ania iti panagdalyasatyo- uray sarukod, uray pitaka, uray tinapay, uray kuarta wenno dua nga pagan-anay.
“Do not,” he said to them, “take anything for your journey; not even a staff, or a bag, or bread, or any silver, or a change of clothes with you.
4 Aniaman nga sumrekanyo a balay, agtalinaed kayo sadiay agingga pumanaw kayo iti dayta nga lugar.
Whatever house you go to stay in, remain there, and leave from that place.
5 No maipanggep kadagiti saan nga umawat kadakayo, inton pumanaw kayo iti dayta nga siudad, pagpagenyo dagiti tapok iti saksakayo kas pammaneknek nga maibusor kadakuada.”
If people do not welcome you, as you leave that town, shake even the dust off your feet, as a protest against them.”
6 Ket pimmanawda nga napan kadagiti il-ili, nga mangikaskasaba iti naimbag nga damag ken mangpapaimbag kadagiti tattao iti sadinnoman.
Then they set out and went from village to village, telling the good news and curing people everywhere.
7 Itatta ni Herodes, nga tetraka, nangngegna amin dagitoy a mapaspasamak ket nariribukan unay, gapu ta ibagbaga dagiti dadduma nga ni Juan nga Mammuniag ket nagungar manipud ken ni patay,
Herod the ruler heard of all that was happening, and was perplexed, because it was said by some that John must be risen from the dead.
8 ken dagiti dadduma nagparang kano ni Elias, ken dagiti dadduma ket maysa kano kadagiti propeta idi un-unana nga panawen ket nagbiag manen.
Some again said that Elijah had appeared, and others that one of the old prophets had risen again.
9 Kinuna ni Herodes, “Pinapugotak ni Juan, ngem maipanggep iti siasino daytoy nga mangmangngegak nga banbanag? “Ket ni Herodes pinadas nga mangbiruk iti wagas tapno makitana ni Hesus.
But Herod himself said, “John I beheaded; but who is this of whom I hear such things?” And he endeavored to see him.
10 Idi nagsublin dagiti naibaon, imbagada kenkuana iti amin nga inaramidda. Intugotna isuda ket napan isuna iti siudad nga maawagan Betsaida.
When the apostles returned, they related to Jesus all that they had done. Then Jesus went privately to a town called Bethsaida, taking the apostles with him.
11 Ngem nangngegan daytoy dagiti adu nga tattao ket sinurotda isuna ket inawatna ida, ken nagsao kadakuada maipanggep iti pagarian ti Dios, ken innagasanna dagiti agkasapulan ti pannakapaimbag.
But the people recognized him and followed him in crowds; and Jesus welcomed them and spoke to them about the kingdom of God, while he cured those who were in need of help.
12 Ket idi mumalemen, napan kenkuana dagiti sangapulo ket dua ket kinunada, “Pagawidemon dagiti tattao tapno mapanda kadagiti il-ili ken barbarrio nga agsapul iti pagdagusan ken makan gapu ta adda tayo iti lugar nga awan matagtagitao.”
The day was drawing to a close, when the twelve came up to him, and said, “Send the crowd away, so that they may make their way to the villages and farms around about, and find themselves lodgings and provisions, for we are in a lonely spot here.”
13 Ngem kinunana kadakuada, “Ikkanyo ida ti kanenda.” Kinunada, “Ti adda kadatayo ket lima laeng a tinapay ken dua a lames, malaksid nga mapan kami gumatang ti taraon para kadagitoy amin nga adu a tattao.”
But Jesus said, “It is for you to give them something to eat.” “We have not more than five loaves and two fish,” they answered. “Unless indeed we are to go and buy food for all these people.”
14 Adda idi ti agarup nga lima ribu a lallaki nga adda sadiay. Ket kinunana kadagiti adalanna, “Pagtugawenyo isuda nga nabunggubunggoy iti saglilima pulo.”
(For the men among them were about five thousand.) “Get them seated in companies,” was his reply, “about fifty in each.”
15 Kasta ngarud ti inaramidda dayta, ket nagtugaw amin dagiti tattao.
This they did, and got all the people seated.
16 Innalana ti lima nga tinapay ken ti dua nga lames, ket timmangad sadi langit, benendisionanna ida, ket pinispisina, ken intedna kadagiti adalanna tapno maiwaras kadagiti tattao.
Taking the five loaves and the two fish, Jesus looked up to heaven and said the blessing over them. Then he broke them in pieces, and gave them to his disciples to set before the people.
17 Ket nanganda amin ken napnekda, ket dagiti nabati nga taraon ket naurnong ket napunno iti sangapulo ket dua nga basket.
Everyone had sufficient to eat, and what was left of the broken pieces was picked up – twelve baskets.
18 Ket napasamak nga kabayatan nga agkarkararag isuna iti bukodna, kaduana dagiti adalanna, ket sinaludsodna kadakuada, nga kunana, “Siasinoak kano iti panagkuna dagiti tattao?”
Afterward, when Jesus was alone, praying, his disciples joined him, and he asked them this question – “Who do the people say that I am?”
19 Simmungbatda, ket kinunada, “Juan nga Mammuniag,” ngem kuna dagiti dadduma nga Elias, ken kuna dagiti dadduma nga maysa kadagiti propeta idi un-unana nga panawen ket nagbiag manen.
“John the Baptist,” was their answer. “Others, however, say that you are Elijah, while others say that one of the old prophets has risen again.”
20 Kinunana kadakuada, “Ngem siasinoak iti pinagkunayo?” Simmungbat ni Pedro a kunana, “Ti Kristo a naggapu iti Dios.”
“But you,” he went on, “who do you say that I am?” And to this Peter answered, “The Christ of God.”
21 Ngem iti panangballaagna kadakuada, binilin ida ni Hesus nga awan ti pangibagaanda iti daytoy,
Jesus, however, strictly charged them not to say this to anyone;
22 a kunana nga iti Anak ti Tao ket masapul nga agsagaba iti adu nga banbanag, umsien dagiti panglakayen ken panguloen a papadi ken escriba, mapapatay, ken mapagungar iti maikatlo nga aldaw.
he told them that the Son of Man must undergo much suffering, and be rejected by the elders, and chief priests, and teachers of the Law, and be put to death, and rise on the third day.
23 Kinunana kadakuada amin, “No siasinoman ti mayat nga sumurot kaniak, masapul ngarud nga lipatenna ti bagina, baklayenna ti krusna iti inaldaw ket sumurot kaniak.
And to all present he said, “If any one wishes to walk in my steps, they must renounce self, and take up their cross daily, and follow me.
24 Siasinoman ti mangpadas nga mangispal iti biagna ket mapukawna, ngem siasinoman nga mangpukaw iti biagna gapu kaniak, ket maispalna.
For whoever wishes to save their life will lose it, and whoever, for my sake, loses his life – that person will save it.
25 Ania ti magunguna iti tao, no matagikuana ti intero a lubong, ngem mapukawna wenno maawan kenkuana ti bukodna a bagi?
What good does it do someone if, when they has gained the whole world, they has lost or forfeited themselves?
26 Siasinoman ti mangibain kaniak ken kadagiti sasaok, isu ibainto met ti Anak ti Tao inton umay iti kukodna a dayag, ken iti dayag ti Ama ken dagiti nasantoan nga anghel.
Whoever is ashamed of me and of my teaching, the Son of Man will be ashamed of them, when he comes in his glory and the glory of the father and of the holy angels.
27 Ngem sipupudno nga ibagak kadakayo, adda dagiti dadduma kadakayo nga agtaktakder ditoy, a saandanto a maramanan ti patay agingga a makitada ti pagarian ti Dios.”
Indeed, I tell you, some who are standing before me will not know death, until they have seen the kingdom of God.”
28 Ket napasamak did garup walo nga aldaw ti napalabas kalpasan nga sinarita ni Hesus dagitoy a sasao nga inkuyog na ni Pedro, ni Juan, ken Santiago, ket simmang-atda iti bantay tapno agkararag.
About eight days after speaking these words, Jesus went up the mountain to pray, taking with him Peter, John, and James.
29 Kabayatan iti panagkararagna, nagbaliw ti langa ti rupana, ken dagiti kawesna ket nagbalin nga puraw ken makasisirap.
As he was praying, the aspect of his face was changed, and his clothing became a dazzling white.
30 Pagammoan, adda dua nga lallaki nga makisarsarita kenkuana! Isu da Moises ken Elias,
And all at once two men were talking with Jesus; they were Moses and Elijah,
31 nga sidadayag ti langada. Ket nagsasaritaanda ti maipanggep iti ipapanawna, nga umadanin nga tungpalenna idiay Jerusalem.
who appeared in a glorified state, and spoke of his departure, which was destined to take place at Jerusalem.
32 Itatta, ni Pedro ken dagiti kakadduana ket adda nga nakaturogdan. Ngem idi nakariingdan, nakitada iti dayagna ken dagiti dua nga lallaki nga makitaktakder kenkuana.
Peter and his companions had been overpowered by sleep but, suddenly becoming wide awake, they saw Jesus glorified and the two men who were standing beside him.
And, as Moses and Elijah were passing away from Jesus, Peter exclaimed, “Sir, it is good to be here; let us make three tents, one for you, and one for Moses, and one for Elijah.” He did not know what he was saying;
34 Ket kabayatan a sarsaritaenna dagitoy nga banbanag, ti ulep ket bimmaba a nanglinong kadakuada; ket nagbutengda kabayatan ti pananglawlaw ti ulep kadakuada.
and, while he was speaking, a cloud came down and enveloped them; and they were afraid, as they passed into the cloud;
35 Adda ti timek nga naggapo iti ulep, a kunana, “Daytoy ti pinilik nga Anakko. Dumngegkayo kenkuana.”
and from the cloud came a voice which said – “This is my Son, the Chosen One; him you must hear.”
36 Idi nalpas iti timek, maymaysan ni Hesus. Nagulimekda, ken kadagidiay nga al-aldaw, awan ti nangibagaanda kadagiti banbanag nga nakitada.
And, as the voice ceased, Jesus was found alone. The apostles kept silence, and told no one about any of the things that they had seen.
37 Ti napasamak ket, iti simmaruno nga aldaw, idi nakababadan manipud iti bantay, ket sinabat isuna ti adu nga tattao.
The next day, when they had come down from the mountain, a great crowd met Jesus.
38 Pagammoan, maysa nga tao manipud kadagiti adu nga tattao ti nagpukkaw a kunana, “Manursuro, ipakpakaasik kenka nga kitaem kuma ti anak ko nga lalaki, ta maymaysana nga anak ko.”
And just then a man in the crowd shouted out, “Teacher, I entreat you to look at my son, for he is my only child;
39 Kitaem, parparigaten ti espiritu, ket kella-at nga agikkis isuna, ken papayegpegenna ken paglabutabenna ti ngiwatna. Isu ket pumanpanaw kenkuana ngem agparigat, ket dangranna iti kasta unay nu pumanaw.
all at once a spirit will seize him, suddenly shriek out, and throw him into convulsions until he foams, and will leave him only when he is utterly exhausted.
40 Nagpakpakaasiak kadagiti adalam nga pilitenda nga papanawen kenkuana, ngem saanda met kabaelan.”
I entreated your disciples to drive the spirit out, but they could not.”
41 Simmungbat ni Hesus ket kinunana, “Dakayo nga saan a mamatpati ken managdakdakes a kaputotan, kasano ti kabayag nga masapul a makipagtalinaedak kadakayo ken iti panaganusko kadakayo? “Iyegmo ditoy ti anak mo.”
“Faithless and perverse generation!” Jesus exclaimed, “How long must I be with you and have patience with you? Lead your son here.”
42 Iti iyaasideg ti ubing a lalaki, tinumba ti demonio isuna ken winagwagna ti napalalo. Ngem tinubngar ni Hesus ti narugit nga espiritu, ket pinaimbagna ti ubing a lalaki, ken insubli iti amana.
While the boy was coming up to Jesus, the demon dashed him down and threw him into convulsions. But Jesus rebuked the foul spirit, and cured the boy, and gave him back to his father.
43 Ket nasdaawda amin iti kinabileg ti Dios. Ngem kabayatan nga masmasdaaw iti amin kadagiti banbanag nga inaramidna, kinunana kadagiti adalanna,
And all present were struck with awe at the majesty of God. In the midst of the general astonishment at all that Jesus was doing, he said to his disciples,
44 “Bay-anyo a dagitoy nga balikas ket sumrek iti kaunggan ti lapayagyo, ta iti Anak ti Tao ket maiyawat kadagiti ima dagiti tattao.”
“Listen carefully to my words. For the Son of Man is destined to be betrayed into the hands of his fellow men.”
45 Ngem saanda nga naawatan ti kayat a sawen daytoy a balikas, ta nailimed kadakuada, isu nga saanda nga maawatan. Agamak da nga agsaludsod kenkuana maipanggep iti dayta nga balikas.
But the disciples did not understand the meaning of this; it had been concealed from them so that they did not see it, and they were afraid to question him as to what he meant.
46 Ket nangrugi ti maysa nga riri kadakuada no siasino ti katatan-okan.
A discussion arose among the disciples as to which of them was the greatest;
47 Ngem ni Hesus, gapu ta ammo na no ania ti kunkunaenda iti puspusoda, nangala iti bassit nga ubing, ket inyabayna kenkuana,
and Jesus, knowing of the discussion that was occupying their thoughts, took hold of a little child, and placed it beside him,
48 ket kinunana kadakuada, “No adda umawat iti bassit nga ubing a kas daytoy gapu iti naganko, siak met laeng ti inna aw-awaten, ket no adda umawat kaniak, aw-awatenna metlaeng isu a nangibaon kaniak. Ta ti tao nga kababaan kadakayo amin ket isu iti katatan-okan.”
and then said to them, “Anyone who, for the sake of my name, welcomes even this little child is welcoming me; and anyone who welcomes me is welcoming him who sent me as his messenger. For whoever is least among you all – that person is great.”
49 Simmungbat ni Juan ket kinunana, “Apo, adda ti nakitami nga mangpakpaksiat ti demonio babaen iti naganmo ket pinasardeng mi isuna, gapu ta saan met nga sumursurot kadatayo.”
John said, “Sir, we saw a man driving out demons by using your name, and we tried to prevent him, because he does not follow you with us.”
50 Ngem kinuna ni Hesus kenkuana, “Saanyo nga pasardengen isuna, agsipud ta siasinoman a saan nga mangbusor kadakayo ket para kadakayo.”
“None of you must prevent him,” Jesus said to John, “whoever is not against you is for you.”
51 Iti napasamak ket, bayat nga umas-asidegen ti al-aldaw nga yuulina sadiay langit, sipapasged isuna nga impatalgedna ti rupana nga mapan idiay Jerusalem.
As the days before his being taken up to heaven were growing few, Jesus set his face resolutely in the direction of Jerusalem; and he sent on messengers in advance.
52 Nangibaon isuna iti mensahero nga immuna ngem isuna, ket napanda ken simrekda iti maysa a barrio idiay Samaria tapno agsaganada para kenkuana.
On their way, they went into a Samaritan village to make preparations for him,
53 Ngem dagiti tattao sadiay, saanda nga inawat isuna, gapu ta impatalgedna ti rupana nga mapan idiay Jerusalem.
but the people there did not welcome him, because his face was set in the direction of Jerusalem.
54 Ket idi nakita daytoy dagiti adalan na nga ni Santiago ken Juan, kinunada, “Apo, kayat mo kadi nga mangbilin kami ti apoy nga bumaba manipud langit ket dadaelenna isuda?”
When James and John saw this, they said, “Master, do you wish us to call for fire to come down from the heavens and consume them?”
55 Ngem ni Hesus timmalyaw ken tinubngar na isuda.
But Jesus turned and rebuked them.
56 Ket napanda iti sabali nga barrio.
And they made their way to another village.
57 Bayat nga magmagnada iti dalanda, adda ti nagkuna kenkuana, “Sumurutak kenka uray sadino ti papanam.”
And, while they were on their way, a man said to Jesus, “I will follow you wherever you go.”
58 Kinuna ni Hesus kenkuana, “Dagiti lobo ket adda abutda, ken dagiti billit iti tangatang ket adda umokda, ngem iti Anak ti Tao ket awan ti sadinnoman a pangiiddaanna iti ulo na.”
“Foxes have holes,” he replied, “and wild birds their nests, but the Son of Man has nowhere to lay his head.”
59 Ket kinunana iti sabali a tao, “Sumurot ka kaniak.” Ngem kinunana, “Apo, palubosannak pay nga umuna a mapan ipunpon ni tatangko.”
To another man Jesus said, “Follow me.” “Let me first go and bury my father,” said the man.
60 Ngem kinunana kenkuana, “Bay-am nga dagiti natay ti mangipunpon kadagiti bukodda a minatay, ngem mapanka ket ipakaammom iti amin nga disso iti pagarian ti Dios.”
But Jesus said, “Leave the dead to bury their dead; but go yourself and carry far and wide the news of the kingdom of God.”
61 Sabali manen nga tao ti nagkuna, “Sumurotak kenka, Apo, ngem ipalubos mo pay nga umuna nga mapanak agpakada kadagiti kabbalayko.”
“Master,” said another, “I will follow you; but first let me say goodbye to my family.”
62 Ngem kinuna ni Hesus kenkuana, “Awan ti siasinoman, a kalpasan nga ingkabilna iti imana iti arado ket agtalyatalyaw iti likudanna, ti maikari iti Pagarian ti Dios.”
But Jesus answered, “No one who looks back, after putting their hand to the plow, is fitted for the kingdom of God.”
