1 Abụ nrigo, nke Solomọn. Ọ bụrụ na Onyenwe anyị ewughị ụlọ, ndị na-ewu ya na-adọgbu onwe ha nʼọrụ nʼefu. Ọ bụrụ na Onyenwe anyị echeghị obodo, nʼefu ka ndị nche na-amụ anya.
A Song of degrees for Solomon. Except the LORD shall build the house, they labor in vain that build it: except the LORD shall keep the city, the watchman waketh in vain.
2 Ọ bụ nʼefu ka ị na-ebili nʼisi ụtụtụ na-adọgbu onwe gị nʼọrụ ịchọta ihe ị ga-eri ruo nʼabalị, nʼihi na ọ na-eme ka ndị niile ọ hụrụ nʼanya hie ụra nʼudo.
[It is] vain for you to rise early, to sit up late, to eat the bread of sorrows: [for] so he giveth his beloved sleep.

Lo, children [are] a heritage of the LORD: [and] the fruit of the womb [is his] reward.
4 Dịka àkụ nʼaka dike nʼagha, otu a, ka ụmụ a mụtaara na mgbe okorobịa dị.
As arrows [are] in the hand of a mighty man: so [are] children of the youth.
5 Onye a gọziri agọzi ka nwoke ahụ bụ onye kpojuru àkụ ndị a nʼakpa àkụ ya. Ihere agaghị eme ha mgbe ha na ndị iro na-arụrịta ụka nʼama.
Happy [is] the man that hath his quiver full of them: they shall not be ashamed, but they shall speak with the enemies in the gate.
