भजन संहिता 90
1 परमेश्वर के प्रिय पात्र मोशेह की एक प्रार्थना प्रभु, समस्त पीढ़ियों में आप हमारे आश्रय-स्थल बने रहे हैं.
BOOK FOURTH: “A prayer of Moses the man of God.” Lord, a place of refuge hast thou been unto us in all generations.
2 इसके पूर्व कि पर्वत अस्तित्व में आते अथवा पृथ्वी तथा संसार की रचना की जाती, अनादि से अनंत तक परमेश्वर आप ही हैं.
Before yet the mountains were brought forth, or thou hadst ever produced the earth and the world, even from everlasting to everlasting, thou art God.
3 आप मनुष्य को यह कहकर पुनः धूल में लौटा देते हैं, “मानव-पुत्र, लौट जा.”
Thou turnest man to contrition, and sayest, Return ye children of men.
4 आपके लिए एक हजार वर्ष वैसे ही होते हैं, जैसे गत कल का दिन; अथवा रात्रि का एक प्रहर.
For a thousand years are in thy eyes but as the yesterday when it is past, and as a watch in the night.
5 आप मनुष्यों को ऐसे समेट ले जाते हैं, जैसे बाढ़; वे स्वप्न मात्र होते हैं— प्रातःकाल में बढ़ने वाली कोमल घास के समान:
Thou carriest them away as with a flood; they are as a sleep: in the morning [they grow] like the grass which changeth.
6 जो प्रातःकाल फूलती है, उसमें बढ़ती है, किंतु संध्या होते-होते यह मुरझाती और सूख जाती है.
In the morning it blossometh, and is changed: in the evening it is mowed off, and withereth.
7 आपका कोप हमें मिटा डालता है, आपकी अप्रसन्नता हमें घबरा देती है.
For [thus] are we consumed by thy anger, and by thy fury are we terrified.
8 हमारे अपराध आपके सामने खुले हैं, आपकी उपस्थिति में हमारे गुप्त पाप प्रकट हो जाते हैं.
Thou hast set our iniquities before thee, our concealed sins before the light of thy countenance.
9 हमारे जीवन के दिन आपके क्रोध की छाया में ही व्यतीत होते हैं; हम कराहते हुए ही अपने वर्ष पूर्ण करते हैं.
For all our days are passed away in thy wrath: we consume our years like a word that is spoken.
10 हमारी जीवन अवधि सत्तर वर्ष है—संभवतः अस्सी वर्ष, यदि हम बलिष्ठ हैं; हमारी आयु का अधिकांश हम दुःख और कष्ट में व्यतीत करते हैं, हां, ये तीव्र गति से समाप्त हो जाते हैं और हम कूच कर जाते हैं.
The days of our years in this life are seventy years; and if by uncommon vigor they be eighty, yet is their greatness trouble and mishap; for it soon hasteneth off, and we fly away.
11 आपके कोप की शक्ति की जानकारी कौन ले सका है! आपका कोप उतना ही व्यापक है जितना कि लोगों के द्वारा आपका भय मानना.
Who knoweth the strength of thy anger, and thy wrath which is like the fear of thee?
12 हमें जीवन की न्यूनता की धर्ममय विवेचना करने की अंतर्दृष्टि प्रदान कीजिए, कि हमारा हृदय बुद्धिमान हो जाए.
Let us then know how to number our days, that we may obtain a heart endowed with wisdom.
13 याहवेह! मृदु हो जाइए, और कितना विलंब? कृपा कीजिए-अपने सेवकों पर.
Return, O Lord, how long yet? and bethink thee concerning thy servants.
14 प्रातःकाल में ही हमें अपने करुणा-प्रेम से संतुष्ट कर दीजिए, कि हम आजीवन उल्लसित एवं हर्षित रहें.
O satisfy us in the morning with thy kindness, that we may be glad and rejoice throughout all our days.
15 हमारे उतने ही दिनों को आनंद से तृप्त कर दीजिए, जितने दिन आपने हमें ताड़ना दी थी, उतने ही दिन, जितने वर्ष हमने दुर्दशा में व्यतीत किए हैं.
Cause us to rejoice as many days as those wherein thou hast afflicted us, the years wherein we have seen unhappiness.
16 आपके सेवकों के सामने आपके महाकार्य स्पष्ट हो जाएं और उनकी संतान पर आपका वैभव.
Let thy act be visible on thy servants, and thy majesty over their children.
17 हम पर प्रभु, हमारे परमेश्वर की मनोहरता स्थिर रहे; तथा हमारे लिए हमारे हाथों के परिश्रम को स्थायी कीजिए— हां, हमारे हाथों का परिश्रम स्थायी रहे.
And may the beauty of the Lord our God be upon us; and the work of our hands do thou firmly establish upon us: yea, the work of our hands—firmly establish thou it.
