याकूब 3
1 प्रिय भाई बहनो, तुममें से अनेकों शिक्षक बनने को उत्सुक न हों. याद रहे कि हम शिक्षकों का न्याय कठोरता पूर्वक होगा.
Not many should become teachers, my brothers, knowing that we will receive greater judgment.
2 हम सभी अनेक क्षेत्रों में चूक जाते हैं. सिद्ध है वह, जिसके वचन में कोई भूल-चूक नहीं होती. वह अपने सारे शरीर पर भी लगाम लगाने में सक्षम है.
For we all stumble in many things. If any man does not stumble in word, this is a perfect man, able also to bridle the whole body.
3 घोड़े हमारे संकेतों का पालन करें, इसके लिए हम उनके मुंह में लगाम डाल देते हैं और उसी के द्वारा उनके सारे शरीर को नियंत्रित करते हैं.
Behold we put bits into the mouths of horses for them to obey us, and we guide about their whole body.
4 जलयानों को ही देख लो, हालांकि वे विशालकाय होते हैं और तेज हवा बहने से चलते हैं, फिर भी एक छोटी सी पतवार द्वारा चालक की इच्छा से हर दिशा में मोड़े जा सकते हैं.
Behold also the ships, being so great and driven by fierce winds, are guided about by a very small rudder, wherever the impulse of the man who steers determines.
5 इसी प्रकार जीभ भी शरीर का एक छोटा अंग है, फिर भी ऊंचे-ऊंचे विषयों का घमण्ड़ भर्ती है. कल्पना करो: एक छोटी सी चिंगारी कैसे एक विशाल वन को भस्म कर देती है.
So also the tongue is a little body-part, and boasts greatly. Behold a little fire, how much wood it kindles.
6 जीभ भी आग है—सारे शरीर में अधर्म का भंडार—एक ऐसी आग, जो हमारे सारे शरीर को अशुद्ध कर देती है. जीभ जीवन की गति को नाश करनेवाली ज्वाला में बदल सकती है तथा स्वयं नर्क की आग से जलकर दहकती रहती है. (Geenna g1067)
And the tongue is a fire, the world of unrighteousness. Thus, the tongue is made to lead among our body-parts, defiling the whole body, and setting the cycle of nature on fire, and being set on fire by hell. (Geenna g1067)
7 पशु-पक्षी, रेंगते जंतु तथा समुद्री प्राणियों की हर एक प्रजाति वश में की जा सकती है और मानव द्वारा वश में की भी जा चुकी है,
For every species, both of beasts and of birds, both of creeping things and things in the sea, is tamed, and has been tamed by the human species.
8 किंतु जीभ को कोई भी वश में नहीं कर सकता. यह एक विद्रोही और हानिकारक है, जो प्राणनाशक विष से छलक रही है.
But no man is able to tame the tongue of men, an unruly evil, full of deadly poison.
9 इसी जीभ से हम प्रभु और पिता परमेश्वर की वंदना करते हैं और इसी से हम मनुष्यों को, जो परमेश्वर के स्वरूप में रचे गए हैं, शाप भी देते हैं.
By it we bless the God and Father, and by it we curse men, who were made according to a likeness of God.
10 प्रिय भाई बहनो, एक ही मुख से आशीर्वाद और शाप का निकलना! गलत है यह!
Out of the same mouth proceeds blessing and curse. My brothers, these things ought not to happen this way.
11 क्या जल के एक ही सोते से कड़वे और मीठे दोनों प्रकार का जल निकलना संभव है?
Does the spring pour out from the same opening the sweet and the bitter?
12 प्रिय भाई बहनो, क्या अंजीर का पेड़ ज़ैतून या दाखलता अंजीर उत्पन्न कर सकती है? वैसे ही खारे जल का सोता मीठा जल नहीं दे सकता.
A fig tree, my brothers, cannot make olives, or a grapevine figs. In the same way, no one spring makes water salty and sweet.
13 कौन है तुम्हारे बीच ज्ञानी और समझदार? वह इसे अपने उत्तम स्वभाव और कामों के द्वारा ज्ञान उत्पन्न करनेवाली नम्रता सहित प्रकट करे.
Who is wise and understanding among you? Let him show from his good behavior his works in meekness of wisdom.
14 यदि तुम्हारा हृदय कड़वी जलन और स्वार्थपूर्ण इच्छाओं से भरा हुआ है तो इसका घमंड करते हुए झूठ को सच बनाकर प्रस्तुत तो मत करो.
But if ye have bitter envy and selfish ambition in your heart, do not boast, and do not lie against the truth.
15 ऐसा ज्ञान ईश्वरीय नहीं परंतु सांसारिक, स्वाभाविक और शैतानी है,
This wisdom is not descending from above, but is earthly, world-soul, demonic.
16 क्योंकि जहां जलन तथा स्वार्थी इच्छाओं का डेरा है, वहां अव्यवस्था तथा सब प्रकार की दुष्टता होती है.
For where envy and selfish ambition are, there is instability and every evil deed.
17 इसके विपरीत ईश्वरीय ज्ञान सबसे पहले शुद्ध और फिर शांति फैलानेवाला, कोमल, विवेकशील, भले काम व दया से भरा हुआ, निष्पक्ष तथा कपट रहित होता है.
But the wisdom from above is indeed first pure, then peaceful, gentle, easily entreated, full of mercy and good fruits, impartial and non-hypocritical.
18 मेल-मिलाप कराने वाला व्यक्ति शांति के बीज बोने के द्वारा धार्मिकता की उपज इकट्ठा करते है.
And the fruit of righteousness is sown in peace to those who make peace.
