< Thaburi 51 >

1 Thaburi ya Daudi Wee Ngai-rĩ, njiguĩra tha, kũringana na wendo waku ũrĩa ũtathiraga; kũringana na tha ciaku nyingĩ-rĩ, tharia mahĩtia makwa mathire.
Unto the end, a psalm of David, When Nathan the prophet came to him after he had sinned with Bethsabee. Have mercy on me, O God, according to thy great mercy. And according to the multitude of thy tender mercies blot out my iniquity.
2 Thambia mahĩtia makwa mothe, na ũũtherie mehia makwa.
Wash me yet more from my iniquity, and cleanse me from my sin.
3 Nĩgũkorwo nĩnjũũĩ mahĩtia makwa, namo mehia makwa makoragwo mbere yakwa hĩndĩ ciothe.
For I know my iniquity, and my sin is always before me.
4 Wee nĩwe njĩhĩirie, o Wee wiki, na ngeeka ũndũ mũũru maitho-inĩ maku, nĩguo Wee wonekage ũtarĩ na mahĩtia rĩrĩa ũkwaria, na ũrĩ wa kĩhooto rĩrĩa ũgũtua ciira.
To thee only have I sinned, and have done evil before thee: that thou mayst be justified in thy words and mayst overcome when thou art judged.
5 Ti-itherũ ndaciarirwo ndĩ mwĩhia; maitũ aagĩire nda ya kũnjiara arĩ o na mehia.
For behold I was conceived in iniquities; and in sins did my mother conceive me.
6 Ti-itherũ, Wee wendaga ũhoro wa ma kuuma ngoro thĩinĩ; nĩ ũndũ ũcio ũndutaga kũgĩa na ũũgĩ ngoro-inĩ yakwa.
For behold thou hast loved truth: the uncertain and hidden things of thy wisdom thou hast made manifest to me.
7 Theria na mũthobi, na nĩngũthera; thaambia, na nĩngwerũha gũkĩra ira.
Thou shalt sprinkle me with hyssop, and I shall be cleansed: thou shalt wash me, and I shall be made whiter than snow.
8 Tũma ngene na njanjamũke; mahĩndĩ marĩa ũthetherete nĩmagĩkene.
To my hearing thou shalt give joy and gladness: and the bones that have been humbled shall rejoice.
9 Hitha ũthiũ waku ndũkoone mehia makwa, na ũtharie mahĩtia makwa mothe.
Turn away thy face from my sins, and blot out all my iniquities.
10 Wee Ngai-rĩ, nyũmbĩra ngoro theru thĩinĩ wakwa, na ũnjerũhĩrie roho wa kwĩhokeka thĩinĩ wakwa.
Create a clean heart in me, O God: and renew a right spirit within my bowels.
11 Ndũkanyingate nyume harĩwe, o na kana weherie Roho waku Mũtheru kuuma thĩinĩ wakwa.
Cast me not away from thy face; and take not thy holy spirit from me.
12 Njookeria gĩkeno kĩrĩa kĩa ũhonokio waku, na ũũhe roho wa kũndũũria ngwathĩkagĩra.
Restore unto me the joy of thy salvation, and strengthen me with a perfect spirit.
13 Hĩndĩ ĩyo nĩngaruta andũ arĩa aremi nĩguo mamenye njĩra ciaku, nao ehia magũcookerere.
I will teach the unjust thy ways: and the wicked shall be converted to thee.
14 Wee Ngai, o Wee Ngai ũrĩa ũũhonokagia-rĩ, honokia kuumana na ũiti thakame, naruo rũrĩmĩ rwakwa nĩrũkaina ũhoro wa ũthingu waku.
Deliver me from blood, O God, thou God of my salvation: and my tongue shall extol thy justice.
15 Wee Mwathani, tumũra mĩromo yakwa, nako kanua gakwa koimbũre ũgooci waku.
O Lord, thou wilt open my lips: and my mouth shall declare thy praise.
16 Wee ndũkenagio nĩ kũrutĩrwo igongona, korwo nĩũkenagio nĩrĩo no ngũrutĩre; o na ndũkenagio nĩ magongona ma njino.
For if thou hadst desired sacrifice, I would indeed have given it: with burnt offerings thou wilt not be delighted.
17 Magongona marĩa Ngai etĩkagĩra nĩ roho ũrĩa mũthuthĩku; ngoro ĩrĩa thuthĩku na ĩkahera-rĩ, Wee Ngai ndũngĩmĩrega.
A sacrifice to God is an afflicted spirit: a contrite and humbled heart, O God, thou wilt not despise.
18 Tũma itũũra rĩa Zayuni rĩgaacĩre nĩ ũndũ wa wega waku; aka thingo cia Jerusalemu rĩngĩ.
Deal favourably, O Lord, in thy good will with Sion; that the walls of Jerusalem may be built up.
Then shalt thou accept the sacrifice of justice, oblations and whole burnt offerings: then shall they lay calves upon thy altar.
