< Thaburi 39 >
1 Thaburi ya Daudi Ndoigire atĩrĩ, “Ndĩĩmenyagĩrĩra mĩthiĩre yakwa, ndĩrigagĩrĩrie ndikehie na rũrĩmĩ rwakwa; nĩnguoha kanua gakwa rĩrĩa rĩothe mũndũ mwaganu arĩ harĩa ndĩ.”
For the Chief Musician. For Jeduthun. A Psalm by David. I said, “I will watch my ways, so that I don’t sin with my tongue. I will keep my mouth with a bridle while the wicked is before me.”
2 No rĩrĩa ndakirĩte na ngahoorera, itekwaria o na ũndũ mwega-rĩ, ruo rwakwa rũgĩkĩrĩrĩria kuongerereka.
I was mute with silence. I held my peace, even from good. My sorrow was stirred.
3 Ngoro yakwa yahĩĩahĩaga thĩinĩ wakwa, na o rĩrĩa ndecũũranagia, mwaki ũgĩakana; hĩndĩ ĩyo ngĩaria na rũrĩmĩ rwakwa, ngiuga atĩrĩ:
My heart was hot within me. While I meditated, the fire burned. I spoke with my tongue:
4 “Wee Jehova, nyonia mũthia wa mũtũũrĩre wakwa, o na mũigana wa matukũ makwa; nĩngĩmenye ũrĩa mũtũũrĩre wakwa ũrĩ wa gũthira na ihenya.
“Yahweh, show me my end, what is the measure of my days. Let me know how frail I am.
5 Ũtũmĩte matukũ makwa makuhĩhe ta rũhĩ; mũigana wa mĩaka yakwa ti ta kĩndũ harĩwe. Mũndũ o wothe ũrĩ muoyo o na rĩrĩa ehaandĩte wega nĩ kĩndũ gĩa tũhũ.
Behold, you have made my days hand widths. My lifetime is as nothing before you. Surely every man stands as a breath.” (Selah)
6 Ti-itherũ mũndũ nĩ ta kĩĩruru rĩrĩa egũcangacanga: Mĩhangʼo ĩrĩa ehangʼagia nayo no ya tũhũ; eigagĩra ũtonga, no ndooĩ nũũ ũkeeguna naguo.
“Surely every man walks like a shadow. Surely they busy themselves in vain. He heaps up, and doesn’t know who shall gather.
7 “No rĩu, Mwathani-rĩ, nĩ kĩĩ njetereire? Wee nĩwe mwĩhoko wakwa.
Now, Lord, what do I wait for? My hope is in you.
8 Honokia kuuma mehia-inĩ makwa mothe; ndũkareke thekererwo nĩ andũ arĩa akĩĩgu.
Deliver me from all my transgressions. Don’t make me the reproach of the foolish.
9 Ndakirĩte ki; ndingĩatumũrire kanua gakwa, nĩgũkorwo nĩwe wekĩte ũguo.
I was mute. I didn’t open my mouth, because you did it.
10 Njehereria ihũũra rĩaku; nĩhootetwo nĩ iringa rĩa guoko gwaku.
Remove your scourge away from me. I am overcome by the blow of your hand.
11 We ũrũithagia na ũkaherithia andũ nĩ ũndũ wa mehia mao; ũniinaga ũtonga wao ta memenyi; mũndũ no ta kĩndũ gĩa tũhũ.
When you rebuke and correct man for iniquity, you consume his wealth like a moth. Surely every man is but a breath.” (Selah)
12 “Igua ihooya rĩakwa, Wee Jehova, thikĩrĩria ngĩgũkaĩra ũndeithie; ndũkarege kũigua kĩrĩro gĩakwa. Nĩgũkorwo njikaranagia nawe ta ndĩ mũgeni, ngahaana ta mũndũ ũthaamĩire kuo, o ta ũrĩa maithe makwa mothe maatariĩ.
“Hear my prayer, Yahweh, and give ear to my cry. Don’t be silent at my tears. For I am a stranger with you, a foreigner, as all my fathers were.
13 Wĩhũgũre na kũngĩ ũtige kũnyona, nĩguo ngĩkene rĩngĩ, itanathiĩ njage gũkorwo ho rĩngĩ.”
Oh spare me, that I may recover strength, before I go away and exist no more.”
