< Ndari 36 >
1 Atongoria a nyũmba cia mbarĩ ya Gileadi mũrũ wa Makiru, mũrũ wa Manase, arĩa maarĩ a mbarĩ cia njiaro cia Jusufu, nĩmathiire na makĩaria marĩ mbere ya Musa na atongoria arĩa matongoragia nyũmba cia andũ a Isiraeli.
Then the leaders of the families of Gilead, the son of Machir, the son of Manasseh, from the stock of the sons of Joseph, approached and spoke to Moses before the leaders of Israel, and they said:
2 Makiuga atĩrĩ, “Rĩrĩa Jehova aathire mwathi wakwa aheane bũrũri ũtuĩke igai rĩa andũ a Isiraeli na ũndũ wa gũcuukĩra mĩtĩ-rĩ, Jehova nĩagwathire ũheane igai rĩa mũrũ wa ithe witũ Zelofehadi kũrĩ airĩtu ake.
“The Lord has instructed you, our ruler, so that you would divide the land by lot to the sons of Israel, and so that you would give to the daughters of Zelophehad, our brother, the possession owed to their father.
3 Na rĩrĩ, mangĩkaahikio nĩ andũ a mĩhĩrĩga ĩyo ĩngĩ ya andũ a Isiraeli, hĩndĩ ĩyo igai rĩao nĩrĩkeherio igai-inĩ rĩa maithe maitũ rĩonganĩrĩrio na igai rĩa mũhĩrĩga ũrĩa makaahikĩra. Nĩ ũndũ ũcio-rĩ, gĩcunjĩ kĩa igai rĩrĩa twagaĩirwo nĩrĩkeherio.
But if men of another tribe receive them as wives, their possession will follow them, and having been transferred to another tribe, there will be a reduction in our inheritance.
4 Rĩrĩa mwaka wa Jubilii wa andũ a Isiraeli ũgaakinya-rĩ, igai rĩao nĩrĩkonganĩrĩrio na igai rĩa mũhĩrĩga ũrĩa makaahikĩra, narĩo igai rĩao rĩeherio kuuma kũrĩ igai rĩa mũhĩrĩga wa maithe maitũ.”
And so it may be that, when the Jubilee of remission, that is, the fiftieth year, has arrived, the distribution by lots shall be confounded, and the possession of the one shall be transferred to others.”
Moses answered the sons of Israel, and, at the instruction of the Lord, he said: “The tribe of the sons of Joseph has spoken correctly.
6 Ũũ nĩguo Jehova athanĩte nĩ ũndũ wa airĩtu a Zelofehadi: No mahikĩre mũndũ o wothe ũrĩa mangĩĩendera, angĩkorwo mekũhika thĩinĩ wa mũhĩrĩga wa ithe wao.
And so, this is the law which has been promulgated by the Lord about the daughters of Zelophehad: Let them marry whomever they may wish, but only among the men of their own tribe,
7 Gũtirĩ igai thĩinĩ wa Isiraeli rĩkoima mũhĩrĩga ũmwe rĩtuĩke rĩa mũhĩrĩga ũngĩ, nĩgũkorwo Mũisiraeli o wothe nĩagatũũria gĩthaka kĩa mũhĩrĩga kĩrĩa maagaire kuuma kũrĩ maithe mao ma tene.
lest the possession of the sons of Israel become commingled, from tribe to tribe. For all men shall take wives from their own tribe and kinship;
8 Mũirĩtu o wothe ũkaagaya gĩthaka mũhĩrĩga-inĩ o wothe wa Isiraeli, no nginya ahikĩre mũndũ wa nyũmba ya mũhĩrĩga wa ithe, nĩgeetha Mũisiraeli o wothe atũũre enyiitĩire igai rĩa maithe.
and all women shall take husbands from their same tribe, so that the inheritance may remain within the families,
9 Gũtirĩ igai rĩkoima mũhĩrĩga ũmwe rĩtuĩke rĩa mũhĩrĩga ũngĩ, nĩgũkorwo o mũhĩrĩga wa andũ a Isiraeli ũrĩtũũragia gĩthaka kĩrĩa ũgaĩte.”
and so that the tribes may not be mingled together, but may remain such as they were separated by the Lord.”
10 Nĩ ũndũ ũcio airĩtu acio a Zelofehadi magĩĩka o ta ũrĩa Jehova aathĩte Musa.
And the daughters of Zelophehad acted according to what was ordered.
11 Airĩtu a Zelofehadi, nĩo Mahala, na Tiriza, na Hogila, na Milika, na Noa, maahikirio nĩ ariũ a mũrũ wa nyina na ithe wao.
And Mahlah, and Tirzah, and Hoglah, and Milcah, and Noa were wed to the sons of their paternal uncle,
12 Maahikire thĩinĩ wa mbarĩ cia njiaro cia Manase mũrũ wa Jusufu, narĩo igai rĩao rĩgĩikara mbarĩ-inĩ na mũhĩrĩga-inĩ wa ithe wao.
from the family of Manasseh, who was a son of Joseph. And the possession which had been distributed to them remained in the tribe and family of their father.
13 Macio nĩmo mawatho na matuĩro ma kũrũmĩrĩrwo marĩa Jehova aathire Musa eere andũ a Isiraeli marĩ kũu werũ wa Moabi hũgũrũrũ-inĩ cia Rũũĩ rwa Jorodani mũrĩmo ũrĩa ũngĩ wa Jeriko.
These are the commandments and judgments which the Lord ordered by the hand of Moses to the sons of Israel, in the plains of Moab, above the Jordan, opposite Jericho.
