1 Na rĩrĩ, Hiramu mũthamaki wa Turo, nĩatũmĩire Daudi andũ, marĩ na mĩgogo ya mĩtarakwa, na aaki a mahiga na a mbaũ, nĩguo mamwakĩre nyũmba ya ũthamaki.
Now Hiram king of Tyre sent envoys to David, along with cedar logs, stonemasons, and carpenters, to build a palace for him.
2 Nake Daudi nĩamenyire atĩ Jehova nĩamũhaandĩte atuĩke mũthamaki wa Isiraeli, na atĩ ũthamaki wake nĩwatũũgĩrĩtio mũno nĩ ũndũ wa andũ ake a Isiraeli.
And David realized that the LORD had established him as king over Israel and had highly exalted his kingdom for the sake of His people Israel.
3 Daudi nĩahikirie atumia angĩ arĩ kũu Jerusalemu, nake agĩtuĩka ithe wa aanake na airĩtu angĩ.
And David took more wives in Jerusalem and became the father of more sons and daughters.
4 Maya nĩmo marĩĩtwa ma ciana ciake iria ciaciarĩirwo kũu: Shamua, na Shobabu, na Nathani, na Solomoni,
These are the names of the children born to him in Jerusalem: Shammua, Shobab, Nathan, Solomon,
5 na Ibiharu, na Elishua, na Elipeleti,
Ibhar, Elishua, Elpelet,
6 na Noga, na Nefegu, na Jafia,
Nogah, Nepheg, Japhia,
7 na Elishama, na Beeliada, na Elifeleti.
Elishama, Beeliada, and Eliphelet.
8 Na rĩrĩa Afilisti maaiguire atĩ Daudi nĩaitĩrĩirio maguta agatuĩka mũthamaki wa Isiraeli guothe-rĩ, makĩambata, magĩthiĩ na mbũtũ ciao ciothe makamũcarie, nake Daudi aigua ũhoro ũcio akiumagara, agĩthiĩ akahũũrane nao.
When the Philistines heard that David had been anointed king over all Israel, they all went in search of him; but David learned of this and went out to face them.
9 Na rĩrĩ, Afilisti nĩmookĩte magatharĩkĩra Gĩtuamba kĩa Refaimu;
Now the Philistines had come and raided the Valley of Rephaim.
10 nĩ ũndũ ũcio Daudi agĩtuĩria ũhoro kũrĩ Ngai, akĩmũũria atĩrĩ, “Thiĩ ngatharĩkĩre Afilisti? Nĩũkũmaneana moko-inĩ makwa?” Nake Jehova akĩmũcookeria atĩrĩ, “Thiĩ, nĩngũmaneana moko-inĩ maku.”
So David inquired of God, “Should I go up against the Philistines? Will You deliver them into my hand?” “Go,” replied the LORD, “for I will deliver them into your hand.”
11 Nĩ ũndũ ũcio Daudi na andũ ake makĩambata, magĩthiĩ nginya Baali-Perazimu, na akĩmatooreria kuo. Nake akiuga atĩrĩ, “O ta ũrĩa maaĩ moinaga, noguo Ngai aharaganĩtie thũ ciakwa na guoko gwakwa.” Nĩ ũndũ ũcio handũ hau hagĩĩtwo Baali-Perazimu.
So David and his men went up to Baal-perazim, where he defeated the Philistines and said, “Like a bursting flood, God has burst out against my enemies by my hand.” So they called that place Baal-perazim.
12 Afilisti magĩtiganĩria ngai ciao kũu, nake Daudi agĩathana ngai icio icinwo na mwaki.
There the Philistines abandoned their gods, and David ordered that they be burned in the fire.
13 Afilisti nĩmatharĩkĩire Gĩtuamba kĩu rĩngĩ;
Once again the Philistines raided the valley.
14 nĩ ũndũ ũcio Daudi agĩtuĩria ũhoro harĩ Ngai rĩngĩ, nake Ngai akĩmũcookeria atĩrĩ, “Tiga kwambata, no mathiũrũrũkĩrie, na ũmatharĩkĩre ũmarutĩtie na mbere ya mĩtĩ ya mĩkũngũgũ.
So David again inquired of God, who answered him, “Do not march up after them, but circle around them and attack them in front of the balsam trees.
15 Rĩrĩa ũrĩigua mũkubio uumĩte igũrũ rĩa mĩtĩ ĩyo ya mĩkũngũgũ-rĩ, thiĩ ũkarũe, tondũ ũguo nĩkuonania atĩ Ngai arĩ mbere yaku akĩhũũra ita rĩa Afilisti.”
As soon as you hear the sound of marching in the tops of the balsam trees, move out to battle, because this will mean that God has marched out before you to strike the camp of the Philistines.”
16 Nĩ ũndũ ũcio Daudi agĩĩka o ta ũrĩa Ngai aamwathĩte, nao makĩhũũra mbũtũ cia Afilisti, o kuuma Gibeoni nginya Gezeri.
So David did as God had commanded him, and they struck down the army of the Philistines all the way from Gibeon to Gezer.
17 Nĩ ũndũ ũcio ngumo ya Daudi ĩkĩhunja o bũrũri o bũrũri, nake Jehova agĩtũma ndũrĩrĩ ciothe imwĩtigĩre.
And David’s fame went out into every land, and the LORD caused all nations to fear him.
