Psalm 84
1 Dem Vorsänger. Auf der Gittit. Von den Kindern Korahs. Ein Psalm. Wie lieblich sind deine Wohnungen, HERR der Heerscharen!
“For the leader of the music. On the Gittith. A psalm of the sons of Korah.” How lovely are thy tabernacles, O LORD of hosts!
2 Meine Seele verlangte und sehnte sich nach den Vorhöfen des HERRN; nun jubelt mein Herz und mein Fleisch dem lebendigen Gott zu!
My soul longeth, yea, fainteth, for the courts of the LORD; My heart and my flesh cry aloud for the living God.
3 Hat doch der Vogel ein Haus gefunden und die Schwalbe ein Nest für sich, da sie ihre Jungen hinlegen kann: deine Altäre, HERR der Heerscharen, mein König und mein Gott!
The very sparrow findeth an abode, And the swallow a nest, where they may lay their young, By thine altars, O LORD of hosts, My king and my God!
4 Wohl denen, die in deinem Hause wohnen, die werden dich noch preisen! (Pause)
Happy they who dwell in thy house, Who are continually praising thee! (Pause)
5 Wohl den Menschen, deren Stärke in dir liegt, in deren Herzen gebahnte Wege sind.
Happy the man whose glory is in thee, In whose heart are the ways [[to Jerusalem]]!
6 Wenn solche durch das Jammertal gehen, machen sie es zu lauter Brunnen, und der Frühregen bedeckt es mit Segen.
Passing through the valley of Baca, they make it a fountain; and the early rain covereth it with blessings.
7 Sie schreiten von Kraft zu Kraft, erscheinen vor Gott in Zion.
They go on from strength to strength; Every one of them appeareth before God in Zion.
8 HERR, Gott der Heerscharen, höre mein Gebet; du Gott Jakobs, merke auf! (Pause)
Hear my prayer, O LORD, God of hosts! Give ear, O God of Jacob! (Pause)
9 O Gott, unser Schild, schaue doch; siehe auf das Antlitz deines Gesalbten!
Look down, O God! our shield, And behold the face of thine anointed!
10 Denn ein Tag in deinen Vorhöfen ist besser als sonst tausend; ich will lieber an der Schwelle stehen in meines Gottes Haus, als wohnen in der Gottlosen Hütten!
For a day spent in thy courts is better than a thousand: I would rather stand on the threshold of the house of my God, Than dwell in the tents of wickedness.
11 Denn Gott, der HERR, ist Sonne und Schild, der HERR gibt Gnade und Herrlichkeit; wer in Unschuld wandelt, dem versagt er nichts Gutes.
For the LORD God is a sun and a shield; The LORD giveth grace and glory; No good thing doth he withhold From them that walk uprightly.
12 O HERR der Heerscharen, wohl dem Menschen, der auf dich vertraut!
O LORD of hosts! Happy the man who trusteth in thee!
