Psalm 78
1 Eine Unterweisung; von Asaph. Höre, mein Volk, meine Lehre, neiget eure Ohren zu den Reden meines Mundes!
A Psalme to give instruction committed to Asaph. Heare my doctrine, O my people: incline your eares vnto the wordes of my mouth.
2 Ich will meinen Mund zu einem Spruche öffnen, will Rätsel vortragen aus alter Zeit,
I will open my mouth in a parable: I will declare high sentences of olde.
3 was wir gehört und gelernt und was unsre Väter uns erzählt haben.
Which we haue heard and knowen, and our fathers haue tolde vs.
4 Es wurde ihren Söhnen nicht vorenthalten, sondern sie haben dem spätern Geschlecht den Ruhm des HERRN erzählt, seine Macht und seine Wunder, die er getan,
Wee will not hide them from their children but to the generation to come we wil shewe the praises of the Lord his power also, and his wonderful woorkes that he hath done:
5 nämlich, daß er ein Zeugnis aufstellte in Jakob und ein Gesetz gab in Israel, von welchem er unsern Vätern befahl, es ihren Kindern kundzutun,
How he established a testimonie in Iaakob, and ordeined a Law in Israel, which he commanded our fathers, that they shoulde teache their children:
6 damit das spätere Geschlecht es wisse, die Kinder, die noch sollten geboren werden, und damit auch sie, wenn sie aufgewachsen wären, es ihren Kindern erzählten;
That the posteritie might knowe it, and the children, which should be borne, should stand vp, and declare it to their children:
7 daß diese auf Gott ihr Vertrauen setzten und nicht vergäßen die Taten Gottes und seine Gebote befolgten
That they might set their hope on God, and not forget the workes of God but keepe his commandements:
8 und nicht würden wie ihre Väter, ein abtrünniges und widerspenstiges Geschlecht, ein Geschlecht, das kein festes Herz hatte, und dessen Geist nicht treu war gegen Gott.
And not to bee as their fathers, a disobedient and rebellious generation: a generation that set not their heart aright, and whose spirite was not faithfull vnto God.
9 Die Kinder Ephraims, geübte Bogenschützen, wandten um am Tage der Schlacht.
The children of Ephraim being armed and shooting with the bowe, turned backe in the day of battell.
10 Sie bewahrten den Bund Gottes nicht und wollten nicht nach seinem Gesetze wandeln.
They kept not the couenant of God, but refused to walke in his Lawe,
11 Und sie vergaßen seine Taten und seine Wunder, die er ihnen erzeigt.
And forgate his Actes, and his wonderfull woorkes that he had shewed them.
12 Vor ihren Vätern hatte er Wunder getan im Lande Ägypten, im Gefilde Zoan.
Hee did marueilous thinges in the sight of their fathers in the lande of Egypt: euen in the fielde of Zoan.
13 Er spaltete das Meer und führte sie hindurch und türmte die Wasser auf wie einen Damm,
He deuided the Sea, and led them through: he made also the waters to stand as an heape.
14 und leitete sie bei Tag mit einer Wolke und während der ganzen Nacht mit einem hellen Feuer.
In the day time also hee led them with a cloude, and all the night with a light of fire.
15 Er spaltete Felsen in der Wüste und tränkte sie wie mit großen Fluten,
He claue the rockes in the wildernes, and gaue them drinke as of the great depths.
16 und ließ Bäche aus dem Felsen hervorspringen und Wasser herabfließen in Strömen.
He brought floods also out of the stonie rocke; so that hee made the waters to descend like the riuers.
17 Dennoch fuhren sie fort, wider ihn zu sündigen und den Höchsten zu erzürnen in der Wüste.
Yet they sinned stil against him, and prouoked the Highest in the wildernesse,
18 Und sie versuchten Gott in ihrem Herzen, indem sie Speise forderten nach ihrem Gelüste.
And tempted God in their heartes in requiring meate for their lust.
19 Und sie redeten wider Gott und sprachen: «Kann Gott einen Tisch bereiten in der Wüste?
They spake against God also, saying, Can God prepare a table in the wildernesse?
20 Siehe, er hat den Felsen geschlagen, daß Wasser flossen und Bäche sich ergossen. Kann er aber auch Brot geben? Wird er seinem Volke Fleisch verschaffen?»
Behold, he smote the rocke, that the water gushed out, and the streames ouerflowed: can hee giue bread also? or prepare flesh for his people?
21 Darum, als der HERR das hörte, ward er entrüstet, und Feuer entbrannte wider Jakob, ja, Zorn stieg auf über Israel,
Therefore the Lord heard and was angrie, and the fire was kindled in Iaakob, and also wrath came vpon Israel,
22 weil sie Gott nicht glaubten und nicht auf seine Hilfe vertrauten.
Because they beleeued not in God, and trusted not in his helpe.
23 Und er gebot den Wolken droben und öffnete die Türen des Himmels;
Yet he had comanded the clouds aboue, and had opened the doores of heauen,
24 und er ließ Manna auf sie regnen zum Essen und gab ihnen Himmelskorn.
And had rained downe MAN vpon them for to eate, and had giuen them of the wheate of heauen.
25 Der Mensch aß Engelsbrot; er sandte ihnen Speise genug.
Man did eate the bread of Angels: hee sent them meate ynough.
26 Er erregte den Ostwind am Himmel und führte durch seine Kraft den Südwind herbei,
He caused the Eastwinde to passe in the heauen, and through his power he brought in the Southwinde.
27 ließ Fleisch auf sie regnen wie Staub und beschwingte Vögel wie Sand am Meer,
Hee rained flesh also vpon them as dust, and feathered foule as the sand of the sea.
28 und ließ sie fallen mitten in ihr Lager, rings um ihre Wohnung her.
And hee made it fall in the middes of their campe euen round about their habitations.
29 Da aßen sie und wurden allzu satt; was sie gewünscht hatten, gewährte er ihnen.
So they did eate and were well filled: for he gaue them their desire.
30 Sie hatten sich ihres Gelüstes noch nicht entschlagen, und ihre Speise war noch in ihrem Munde,
They were not turned from their lust, but the meate was yet in their mouthes,
31 als der Zorn Gottes sich wider sie erhob und die Fetten unter ihnen erwürgte und die Jungmannschaft Israels darniederstürzte.
When the wrath of God came euen vpon them, and slew the strongest of them, and smote downe the chosen men in Israel.
32 Trotz alledem sündigten sie weiter und glaubten nicht an seine Wunder.
For all this, they sinned stil, and beleeued not his wonderous woorkes.
33 Darum ließ er ihre Tage wie einen Hauch vergehen und ihre Jahre durch plötzlichen Untergang.
Therefore their daies did hee consume in vanitie, and their yeeres hastily.
34 Wenn er sie tötete, so suchten sie ihn und kehrten sich wieder zu Gott
And when hee slewe them, they sought him and they returned, and sought God earely.
35 und dachten daran, daß Gott ihr Fels sei, und Gott, der Höchste, ihr Erlöser.
And they remembred that God was their strength, and the most high God their redeemer.
36 Aber sie heuchelten ihm mit ihrem Munde und logen mit ihren Zungen;
But they flattered him with their mouth, and dissembled with him with their tongue.
37 denn ihr Herz war nicht aufrichtig gegen ihn, und sie hielten nicht treu an seinem Bund.
For their heart was not vpright with him: neither were they faithfull in his couenant.
38 Er aber war barmherzig und vergab die Schuld und vertilgte sie nicht und hat oftmals seinen Zorn abgewandt und nicht allen seinen Grimm erweckt;
Yet he being merciful forgaue their iniquitie, and destroied them not, but oft times called backe his anger, and did not stirre vp all his wrath.
39 denn er dachte daran, daß sie Fleisch seien, ein Wind, der hinfährt und nicht wiederkehrt.
For he remembered that they were flesh: yea, a winde that passeth and commeth not againe.
40 Wie oft empörten sie sich wider ihn in der Wüste und betrübten ihn in der Einöde!
How oft did they prouoke him in the wildernes? and grieue him in the desert?
41 Und sie versuchten Gott immer wieder und kränkten den Heiligen Israels.
Yea, they returned, and tempted God, and limited the Holie one of Israel.
42 Sie sind seiner Hand nicht eingedenk gewesen, des Tages, da er sie vom Feinde erlöste;
They remembered not his hand, nor the day when he deliuered them from the enemie,
43 da er seine Zeichen tat in Ägypten und seine Wunder im Gefilde Zoan;
Nor him that set his signes in Egypt, and his wonders in the fielde of Zoan,
44 als er ihre Ströme in Blut verwandelte und ihre Bäche, so daß man nicht trinken konnte;
And turned their riuers into blood, and their floods, that they could not drinke.
45 da er Ungeziefer unter sie sandte, das sie fraß, und Frösche, die sie verderbten;
Hee sent a swarme of flies among them, which deuoured them, and frogs, which destroyed them.
46 da er den Fressern ihre Früchte gab und den Heuschrecken ihre Erzeugnisse;
He gaue also their fruites vnto the caterpiller, and their labour vnto the grassehopper.
47 da er ihre Weinstöcke mit Hagel schlug und ihre Maulbeerbäume mit Schlossen
He destroied their vines with haile, and their wilde figge trees with the hailestone.
48 und ihr Vieh dem Hagel preisgab und ihre Herden den Wetterstrahlen;
He gaue their cattell also to the haile, and their flockes to the thunderboltes.
49 da er gegen sie die Glut seines Zornes entsandte, Grimm und Ungnade und Drangsal, Scharen von Unglücksengeln;
Hee cast vpon them the fiercenesse of his anger, indignation and wrath, and vexation by the sending out of euill Angels.
50 da er seinem Zorn den Lauf ließ, ihre Seele nicht vor dem Tod bewahrte, sondern ihr Leben der Pest preisgab;
He made a way to his anger: he spared not their soule from death, but gaue their life to the pestilence,
51 da er alle Erstgeburt in Ägypten schlug, die Erstlinge ihrer Kraft in den Hütten Hams.
And smote al the firstborne in Egypt, euen the beginning of their strength in the tabernacles of Ham.
52 Und er ließ sein Volk ausziehen wie Schafe und leitete sie wie eine Herde in der Wüste
But hee made his people to goe out like sheepe, and led them in the wildernes like a flocke.
53 und führte sie sicher, daß sie sich nicht fürchteten; ihre Feinde aber bedeckte das Meer.
Yea, he caried them out safely, and they feared not, and the Sea couered their enemies.
54 Und er brachte sie in die Grenzen seines Heiligtums; zu diesem Berg, den seine Rechte erworben.
And he brought them vnto the borders of his Sanctuarie: euen to this Mountaine, which his right hand purchased.
55 Und er vertrieb vor ihnen her die Heiden und teilte ihnen das Erbe aus mit der Meßschnur und ließ in ihren Zelten die Stämme Israels wohnen.
He cast out the heathe also before them, and caused them to fall to the lot of his inheritance, and made the tribes of Israel to dwell in their tabernacles.
56 Aber sie versuchten und erzürnten den höchsten Gott und hielten seine Zeugnisse nicht,
Yet they tempted, and prouoked the most high God, and kept not his testimonies,
57 sondern wichen zurück und fielen ab wie ihre Väter; sie gingen fehl wie ein trügerischer Bogen.
But turned backe and delt falsely like their fathers: they turned like a deceitfull bowe.
58 Und sie reizten ihn zum Zorn durch ihre Höhen und zur Eifersucht durch ihre Götzen.
And they prouoked him to anger with their high places, and mooued him to wrath with their grauen images.
59 Gott hörte es und entrüstete sich und verabscheute Israel sehr.
God heard this and was wroth, and greatly abhorred Israel,
60 Und er verließ seine Wohnung zu Silo, das Zelt, wo er unter den Menschen wohnte,
So that hee forsooke the habitation of Shilo, euen the Tabernacle where hee dwelt among men,
61 und gab seine Macht in Gefangenschaft und seine Herrlichkeit in Feindeshand,
And deliuered his power into captiuitie, and his beautie into the enemies hand.
62 und überlieferte sein Volk dem Schwert und war entrüstet über sein Erbe.
And hee gaue vp his people to the sworde, and was angrie with his inheritance.
63 Seine Jünglinge hat das Feuer verzehrt, und seine Jungfrauen mußten ohne Brautlied bleiben.
The fire deuoured their chosen men, and their maides were not praised.
64 Seine Priester sind durchs Schwert gefallen, und seine Witwen konnten nicht weinen.
Their Priestes fell by the sworde, and their widowes lamented not.
65 Da erwachte der Herr wie ein Schlafender, wie ein Starker, der sich Mut zugetrunken.
But the Lord awaked as one out of sleepe, and as a strong man that after his wine crieth out,
66 Und er schlug seine Feinde zurück, ewige Schande fügte er ihnen zu.
And smote his enemies in the hinder parts, and put them to a perpetuall shame.
67 Und er verwarf das Zelt Josephs und erwählte nicht den Stamm Ephraim,
Yet he refused the tabernacle of Ioseph, and chose not the tribe of Ephraim:
68 sondern erwählte den Stamm Juda, den Berg Zion, welchen er liebt.
But chose the tribe of Iudah, and mount Zion which he loued.
69 Und er baute sein Heiligtum wie Himmelshöhen, gleich der Erde, die er auf ewig gegründet hat.
And he built his Sanctuarie as an high palace, like the earth, which he stablished for euer.
70 Und er erwählte seinen Knecht David und nahm ihn von den Schafhürden weg.
He chose Dauid also his seruant, and tooke him from the shepefolds.
71 Da er den tragenden Schafen nachging, holte er ihn, daß er weiden sollte Jakob, sein Volk, und Israel, sein Erbe.
Euen from behinde the ewes with yong brought he him to feede his people in Iaakob, and his inheritance in Israel.
72 Und er weidete sie mit aller Treue seines Herzens und leitete sie mit geschickter Hand.
So he fed them according to the simplicitie of his heart, and guided them by the discretion of his hands.
