4 Mose 32

1 Die Kinder Ruben aber und die Kinder Gad hatten sehr viel Vieh und sahen das Land Jaeser und das Land Gilead, und siehe, es war ein geeignetes Land für ihr Vieh.

Now the children of Reuben and the children of Gad had a great number of cattle: and when they saw that the land of Jazer and the land of Gilead was a good place for cattle;

2 Da kamen die Kinder Gad und die Kinder Ruben und redeten mit Mose und Eleasar, dem Priester, und mit den Hauptleuten der Gemeinde und sprachen:

The children of Gad and the children of Reuben came and said to Moses and to Eleazar the priest and to the chiefs of the meeting,

3 Atarot, Dibon, Jaeser, Nimra, Hesbon, Eleale, Sebam,

Ataroth, and Dibon, and Jazer, and Nimrah, and Heshbon, and Elealeh, and Sebam, and Nebo, and Beon,

4 Nebo und Beon, das Land, welches der HERR vor der Gemeinde Israel geschlagen hat, ist geeignet für das Vieh; nun haben wir, deine Knechte, viel Vieh.

The land which the Lord gave into the hands of the children of Israel, is a land for cattle, and your servants have cattle.

5 Und sie sprachen: Haben wir Gnade vor dir gefunden, so gib dieses Land deinen Knechten zu eigen und führe uns nicht über den Jordan.

And they said, With your approval, let this land be given to your servants as their heritage: do not take us over Jordan.

6 Und Mose sprach zu den Kindern Gad und zu den Kindern Ruben: Sollen eure Brüder in den Streit ziehen, und ihr wollt hier bleiben?

And Moses said to the children of Gad and the children of Reuben, Are your brothers to go to the war, while you take your rest here?

7 Warum macht ihr doch das Herz der Kinder Israel abwendig, daß sie nicht hinüberziehen in das Land, das ihnen der HERR geben will?

Why would you take from the children of Israel the desire to go over into the land which the Lord has given them?

8 Also taten auch eure Väter, als ich sie von Kadesch-Barnea aussandte, das Land zu beschauen;

So did your fathers, when I sent them from Kadesh-barnea to see the land.

9 als sie bis zum Tal Eskol hinaufgekommen waren und das Land sahen, machten sie das Herz der Kinder Israel abwendig, daß sie nicht in das Land ziehen wollten, das ihnen der HERR gegeben hatte.

For when they went up to the valley of Eshcol, and saw the land, they took from the children of Israel the desire to go into the land which the Lord had given them.

10 Und der Zorn des HERRN entbrannte zu derselben Zeit, und er schwur und sprach:

And at that time the Lord was moved to wrath, and made an oath, saying,

11 Fürwahr, die Männer, die aus Ägypten gezogen sind, von zwanzig Jahren an und darüber sollen das Land nicht sehen, das ich Abraham, Isaak und Jakob geschworen habe, weil sie mir nicht gänzlich nachgefolgt sind;

Truly, not one of the men of twenty years old and over who came out of Egypt will see the land which I gave by oath to Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob; because they have not been true to me with all their heart;

12 ausgenommen Kaleb, der Sohn Jephunnes, der Kenisiter, und Josua, der Sohn Nuns; denn sie sind dem HERRN gänzlich nachgefolgt.

But only Caleb, the son of Jephunneh the Kenizzite, and Joshua, the son of Nun: because they have been true to the Lord.

13 Also entbrannte der Zorn des HERRN über Israel, und er ließ sie in der Wüste hin und herziehen vierzig Jahre lang, bis das ganze Geschlecht, das vor dem HERRN übel gehandelt hatte, aufgerieben war.

Then the Lord was angry with Israel, and he made them wanderers in the waste land for forty years? till all that generation who had done evil in the eyes of the Lord was dead.

14 Und siehe, ihr seid an eurer Väter Statt aufgekommen, eine Brut von Sündern, den Zorn und Grimm des HERRN wider Israel noch größer zu machen.

And now you have come to take the place of your fathers, another generation of sinners, increasing the wrath of the Lord against Israel.

15 Denn wenn ihr euch von seiner Nachfolge abwendet, so wird er auch sie noch länger in der Wüste lassen, und ihr werdet dieses ganze Volk verderben!

For if you are turned away from him, he will send them wandering again in the waste land; and you will be the cause of the destruction of all this people.

16 Da traten sie zu ihm und sprachen: Wir wollen nur Schafhürden hier bauen für unser Vieh und Städte für unsere Kinder.

Then they came to him, and said, We will make safe places for our cattle here, and towns for our little ones;

17 Wir aber wollen uns rüsten und eilends voranziehen vor den Kindern Israel, bis wir sie an ihren Ort bringen; unsre Kinder sollen in den verschlossenen Städten bleiben um der Einwohner des Landes willen.

But we ourselves will be ready armed to go before the children of Israel till we have taken them to their place: but our little ones will be safe in the walled towns against the people of the land.

18 Wir wollen nicht heimkehren, bis die Kinder Israel [das Land] eingenommen haben, ein jeder sein Erbteil.

We will not come back to our houses till every one of the children of Israel has come into his heritage.

19 Denn wir wollen nicht mit ihnen erben jenseits des Jordan und weiterhin, sondern unser Erbe soll uns diesseits des Jordan, gegen Morgen zufallen.

For we will not have our heritage with them on the other side of Jordan and forward; because our heritage has come to us on this side of Jordan to the east.

20 Mose sprach zu ihnen: Wenn ihr das tun wollt, daß ihr euch vor dem HERRN zum Streit rüstet,

Then Moses said to them, If you will do this, arming yourselves to go before the Lord to the war,

21 so zieht, wer unter euch gerüstet ist, über den Jordan vor dem HERRN, bis er seine Feinde vor seinem Angesicht austreibe.

Every armed man of you going across Jordan before the Lord till he has overcome and sent in flight all who are against him,

22 Wenn dann das Land vor dem HERRN unterworfen ist, dann erst sollt ihr umkehren; so werdet ihr vor dem HERRN und vor Israel unschuldig sein, und dieses Land soll euer Besitztum werden vor dem HERRN.

And the land is under the rule of the Lord: then after that you may come back, having done no wrong to the Lord and to Israel; and this land will be yours for your heritage before the Lord.

23 Wenn ihr aber nicht also tut, siehe, so habt ihr euch an dem HERRN versündigt und werdet erfahren, was für eine Strafe euch treffen wird!

But if you do not do this, then you are sinners against the Lord; and you may be certain that your sin will have its reward.

24 So baut euch nun Städte für eure Kinder und Hürden für eure Schafe, und tut, was ihr versprochen habt.

So get to work building your towns for your little ones, and safe places for your sheep; and do as you have said.

25 Die Kinder Gad und die Kinder Ruben sprachen zu Mose: Deine Knechte wollen tun, wie mein Herr geboten hat.

And the children of Gad and the children of Reuben said to Moses, Your servants will do as my lord says.

26 Unsre Kinder, unsre Weiber, unsre Habe und all unser Vieh sollen hier in den Städten Gileads bleiben;

Our little ones, our wives, and our flocks, and all our cattle, will be there in the towns of Gilead;

27 wir aber, deine Knechte, alle die zum Heereszug gerüstet sind, wollen in den Streit ziehen vor dem HERRN, wie mein Herr geredet hat.

But your servants will go over, every man armed for war, before the Lord to the fight, as my lord says.

28 Da gebot Mose Eleasar, dem Priester, und Josua, dem Sohne Nuns, und den Familienhäuptern der Stämme der Kinder Israel;

So Moses gave orders about them to Eleazar the priest and to Joshua, the son of Nun, and to the heads of families of the tribes of the children of Israel.

29 und Mose sprach zu ihnen: Wenn die Kinder Gad und die Kinder Ruben mit euch über den Jordan ziehen, alle, die zum Streit gerüstet sind vor dem HERRN, und das Land vor euch eingenommen ist, so gebt ihnen das Land Gilead zu eigen.

And Moses said to them, If the children of Gad and the children of Reuben go with you over Jordan, every man armed for the fight before the Lord, and all the land is given into your hands, then let them have the land of Gilead for a heritage:

30 Ziehen sie aber nicht gerüstet mit euch, so sollen sie unter euch im Lande Kanaan erben.

But if they do not go over with you armed, they will have to take their heritage with you in the land of Canaan.

31 Da antworteten die Kinder Gad und die Kinder Ruben und sprachen: Wie der HERR zu deinen Knechten geredet hat, also wollen wir tun!

Then the children of Gad and the children of Reuben said, As the Lord has said to your servants, so will we do.

32 Wir wollen gerüstet in das Land Kanaan ziehen vor dem HERRN und unser Erbe diesseits des Jordan besitzen.

We will go over armed before the Lord into the land of Canaan, and you will give us our heritage on this side of Jordan.

33 Also gab Mose den Kindern Gad und den Kindern Ruben und dem halben Stamm Manasse, des Sohnes Josephs, das Königreich Sihons, des Königs der Amoriter, und das Königreich Ogs, des Königs von Basan, das Land samt den Städten im ganzen Gebiet ringsum.

So Moses gave to them, even to the children of Gad and the children of Reuben and to the half-tribe of Manasseh, the son of Joseph, the kingdom of Sihon, king of the Amorites and Og, king of Bashan, all the land with its towns and the country round them.

34 Und die Kinder Gad bauten Dibon,

And the children of Gad were the builders of Dibon and Ataroth and Aroer;

35 Atarot und Aroer, und Atarot-Sophan, Jaeser und Jogbeha,

And Atroth-shophan and Jazer and Jogbehah;

36 auch Beth-Nimra, und Beth-Haran, befestigte Städte und Schafhürden.

And Beth-nimrah and Beth-haran: walled towns and shut-in places for sheep.

37 Die Kinder Ruben aber bauten Hesbon,

And the children of Reuben were the builders of Heshbon and Elealeh and Kiriathaim;

38 Eleale und Kirjataim; desgleichen Nebo und Baal-Meon, deren Namen verändert wurden, und Sibma, und sie gaben den Städten, die sie erbauten, andere Namen.

And Nebo and Baal-meon, (their names being changed, ) and Sibmah: and they gave other names to the towns they made.

39 Und die Kinder Machirs, des Sohnes Manasses, zogen nach Gilead und gewannen es und vertrieben die Amoriter, die darin wohnten.

And the children of Machir, the son of Manasseh, went to Gilead and took it, driving out the Amorites who were living there.

40 Da gab Mose dem Machir, dem Sohne Manasses, Gilead; und er wohnte darin.

And Moses gave Gilead to Machir, the son of Manasseh; and he made it his living-place.

41 Jair aber, der Sohn Manasses, ging hin und gewann ihre Dörfer und hieß sie Jairs-Dörfer.

And Jair, the son of Manasseh, went and took the towns of Gilead, naming them Havvoth-Jair.

42 Nobach ging auch hin und gewann Kenat samt ihren Dörfern und hieß sie nach seinem Namen Nobach.

And Nobah went and took Kenath and its small towns, naming it Nobah, after himself.
