1 Und Simson ging nach Timnat hinab und sah daselbst ein Weib unter den Töchtern der Philister.
Nowe Samson went downe to Timnath, and saw a woman in Timnath of the daughters of the Philistims,
2 Und als er wieder heraufkam, sagte er es seinem Vater und seiner Mutter und sprach: Ich habe ein Weib gesehen zu Timnat, unter den Töchtern der Philister; nehmt mir sie doch zum Weibe!
And he came vp and told his father and his mother and saide, I haue seene a woman in Timnath of the daughters of the Philistims: now therfore giue me her to wife.
3 Sein Vater und seine Mutter sprachen zu ihm: Ist denn kein Weib unter den Töchtern deiner Brüder oder unter meinem Volk, daß du hingehst und ein Weib nimmst bei den Philistern, die unbeschnitten sind? Simson sprach zu seinem Vater: Nimm mir diese, denn sie ist recht in meinen Augen!
Then his father and his mother sayde vnto him, Is there neuer a wife among the daughters of thy brethren, and among all my people, that thou must go to take a wife of the vncircumcised Philistims? And Samson sayd vnto his father, Giue mee her, for she pleaseth me well.
4 Aber sein Vater und seine Mutter wußten nicht, daß es von dem HERRN kam, und daß er gegenüber den Philistern einen Anlaß suchte. Die Philister herrschten nämlich zu jener Zeit über Israel.
But his father and his mother knewe not that it came of the Lord, that he should seeke an occasion against the Philistims: for at that time the Philistims reigned ouer Israel.
5 Also ging Simson mit seinem Vater und mit seiner Mutter gen Timnat hinab. Und als sie an die Weinberge bei Timnat kamen, siehe, da begegnete ihm ein junger brüllender Löwe!
Then went Samson and his father and his mother downe to Timnath, and came to ye vineyardes at Timnath: and beholde, a young Lyon roared vpon him.
6 Da kam der Geist des HERRN über ihn, so daß er den Löwen zerriß, als ob er ein Böcklein zerrisse, und er hatte doch gar nichts in seiner Hand; er verriet aber seinem Vater und seiner Mutter nicht, was er getan hatte.
And the Spirit of the Lord came vpon him, and he tare him, as one should haue rent a kid, and had nothing in his hand, neither told he his father nor his mother what he had done.
7 Als er nun hinabkam, redete er mit dem Weibe, und sie war in Simsons Augen recht.
And he went down, and talked with the woman which was beautifull in the eyes of Samson.
8 Und nach etlichen Tagen kam er wieder, um sie zu nehmen, und trat aus dem Wege, um das Aas des Löwen zu besehen; und siehe, da war ein Bienenschwarm und Honig in dem Aas des Löwen.
And within a fewe dayes, when he returned to receiue her, he went aside to see the karkeis of the Lion: and behold, there was a swarme of bees, and hony in the body of the Lyon.
9 Und er nahm davon in seine Hand und aß davon unterwegs und ging zu seinem Vater und zu seiner Mutter und gab ihnen, und sie aßen auch. Er verriet ihnen aber nicht, daß er den Honig von dem Aas des Löwen genommen hatte.
And he tooke therof in his handes, and went eating, and came to his father and to his mother, and gaue vnto them, and they did eate: but hee told not them, that he had taken the hony out of the body of the lyon.
10 Und als sein Vater zu dem Weibe hinabkam, machte Simson daselbst ein Hochzeitsmahl; denn also pflegten die Jünglinge zu tun.
So his father went down vnto the woman, and Samson made there a feast: for so vsed the yong men to doe.
11 Sobald sie ihn aber sahen, gaben sie ihm dreißig Gefährten, die bei ihm sein sollten.
And when they sawe him, they brought thirtie companions to be with him.
12 Zu diesen sagte Simson: Ich will euch doch ein Rätsel aufgeben; wenn ihr mir dasselbe erratet und löset innert der sieben Tage des Hochzeitsmahles, so will ich euch dreißig Hemden und dreißig Feierkleider geben.
Then Samson sayd vnto them, I will nowe put forth a riddle vnto you: and if you can declare it me within seuen dayes of the feast, and finde it out, I will giue you thirty sheetes, and thirtie change of garments.
13 Könnt ihr es aber nicht erraten, so sollt ihr mir dreißig Hemden und dreißig Feierkleider geben. Und sie sprachen: Gib dein Rätsel auf, wir wollen es hören!
But if you cannot declare it mee, then shall yee giue mee thirty sheetes and thirtie change of garments. And they answered him, Put forth thy riddle, that we may heare it.
14 Er sprach zu ihnen: «Speise ging aus von dem Fresser, und Süßigkeit ging aus von dem Starken.» Und sie konnten in drei Tagen das Rätsel nicht erraten.
And he sayd vnto them, Out of the eater came meate, and out of the strong came sweetenesse: and they could not in three dayes expound the riddle.
15 Am siebenten Tage sprachen sie zu Simsons Weib: Überrede deinen Mann, daß er uns dieses Rätsel verrate, sonst werden wir dich und deines Vaters Haus mit Feuer verbrennen! Habt ihr uns darum hierher geladen, um uns arm zu machen?
And when the seuenth day was come, they said vnto Samsons wife, Entise thine husband, that he may declare vs the riddle, lest wee burne thee and thy fathers house with fire. Haue ye called vs, to possesse vs? is it not so?
16 Da weinte Simsons Weib vor ihm und sprach: Du bist mir nur gram und hast mich nicht lieb! Du hast den Kindern meines Volkes dieses Rätsel aufgegeben und hast es mir nicht verraten! Er aber sprach zu ihr: Siehe, ich habe es meinem Vater und meiner Mutter nicht verraten; und sollte es dir verraten?
And Samsons wife wept before him, and said, Surely thou hatest mee and louest mee not: for thou hast put forth a riddle vnto the children of my people, and hast not told it mee. And hee sayd vnto her, Beholde, I haue not told it my father, nor my mother, and shall I tell it thee?
17 Sie weinte aber sieben Tage lang vor ihm, während sie das Hochzeitsmahl hielten; aber am siebenten Tage verriet er es ihr; denn sie nötigte ihn. Und sie verriet das Rätsel den Kindern ihres Volkes.
Then Samsons wife wept before him seuen dayes, while their feast lasted: and when the seuenth day came he tolde her, because she was importunate vpon him: so she told the riddle to the children of her people.
18 Da sprachen die Männer der Stadt am siebenten Tage, ehe die Sonne unterging, zu ihm: Was ist süßer als Honig? Und wer ist stärker als der Löwe? Er aber sprach zu ihnen: Hättet ihr nicht mit meinem Rinde gepflügt, so hättet ihr mein Rätsel nicht erraten!
And the men of ye citie sayde vnto him the seuenth day before the Sunne went downe, What is sweeter then honie? and what is stronger then a lyon? Then sayd hee vnto them, If yee had not plowed with my heiffer, yee had not found out my riddle.
19 Und der Geist des HERRN kam über ihn, und er ging hinab gen Askalon und erschlug dreißig Männer unter ihnen und nahm ihre Kleider und gab denen die Feierkleider, welche das Rätsel erraten hatten. Und weil sein Zorn entbrannt war, ging er hinauf in seines Vaters Haus.
And the Spirite of the Lord came vpon him, and he went downe to Ashkelon, and slew thirtie men of them and spoyled them, and gaue chaunge of garments vnto them, which expounded the riddle: and his wrath was kindled, and he went vp to his fathers house.
20 Aber das Weib Simsons ward einem seiner Gefährten gegeben, der ihm beigesellt gewesen war.
Then Samsons wife was giuen to his companion, whom he had vsed as his friend.
