Jeremia 44

1 Das Wort erging an Jeremias über die Judäer alle, die sich im Land Ägypten, in Migdol, Tachpaneches, in Memphis und in dem Lande Patros niederließen:

The word that came to Jeremiah concerning all the Jews who lived in the land of Egypt, who lived at Migdol, and at Tahpanhes, and at Memphis, and in the country of Pathros, saying,

2 "So spricht der Heeresscharen Herr, Gott Israels: 'Ihr selber habt das ganze Unheil miterlebt, das ich Jerusalem und allen andern Städten Judas zugefügt. Sie sind jetzt eine menschenleere Wüste.

"Thus says the LORD of hosts, the God of Israel: 'You have seen all the evil that I have brought on Jerusalem, and on all the cities of Judah; and look, this day they are a desolation, and no man dwells in them,

3 Der bösen Taten wegen, die sie trieben, mir zum Verdrusse. Sie räucherten im Dienste unaufhörlich den andern vordem unbekannten Göttern, die euch und euren Vätern unbekannt gewesen.

because of their wickedness which they have committed to provoke me to anger, in that they went to burn incense, to serve other gods, that they did not know, neither they, nor you, nor your fathers.

4 Wohl sandte ich zu euch all meine Diener, die Propheten; ich sandte sie vom frühen Morgen an und ließ sie sprechen: 'Treibt doch nicht solchen Greuel, den ich hasse!'

However I sent to you all my servants the prophets, rising up early and sending them, saying, 'Oh, do not do this abominable thing that I hate.'

5 Sie aber hörten nicht und neigten nicht ihr Ohr, daß sie von ihrem bösen Tun gelassen und den andern Göttern nicht geräuchert hätten.

But they did not listen, nor inclined their ear to turn from their wickedness, to burn no incense to other gods.

6 Und so ergoß sich meine Wut, mein Zorn und loderte in Judas Städten auf und in den Straßen von Jerusalem. Sie wurden eine wüste Öde, wie sie's noch heute sind."

Therefore my wrath and my anger was poured forth, and was kindled in the cities of Judah and in the streets of Jerusalem; and they are wasted and desolate, as it is this day.'

7 Und nun spricht so der Herr der Heerscharen, Gott Israels: "Was tut ihr selbst euch solch ein großes Unheil an und rottet so aus Juda Mann und Weib und Kind und Säugling aus, laßt keinen Rest für euch mehr übrig?

Therefore now thus says the LORD, the God of hosts, the God of Israel: 'Why do you commit great evil against your own souls, to cut off from yourselves man and woman, infant and nursing child out of the midst of Judah, to leave yourselves none remaining;

8 Durch eurer Hände Werk verdrießt ihr mich, wenn andern Göttern im Ägypterland ihr räuchert. Ihr seid dahin zu Gast gezogen, um euch Vernichtung zuzuziehen. So werdet ihr zum Fluch und zum Gespött bei allen Erdenvölkern.

in that you provoke me to anger with the works of your hands, burning incense to other gods in the land of Egypt, where you have gone to live; that you may be cut off, and that you may be a curse and a reproach among all the nations of the earth?

9 Habt ihr vergessen schon die Übeltaten eurer Väter und die der Könige von Juda, die seiner Fürsten und eure eignen Übeltaten, die eurer Weiber auch, die sie im Judaland und in den Straßen von Jerusalem verübt?

Have you forgotten the wickedness of your fathers, and the wickedness of the kings of Judah, and the wickedness of their wives, and your own wickedness, and the wickedness of your wives which they committed in the land of Judah, and in the streets of Jerusalem?

10 Sie sind bis heute nicht zerknirscht und haben keine Angst und wandeln nicht nach meiner Lehre, meinen Satzungen, die ich dereinstens euch und euren Vätern vorgeschrieben."

They are not humbled even to this day, neither have they feared, nor walked in my law, nor in my statutes, that I set before you and before your fathers.'

11 Darum spricht so der Herr der Heerscharen, Gott Israels: "Ich bin zum Unheil gegen euch entschlossen, ganz Juda auszurotten.

Therefore thus says the LORD of hosts, the God of Israel: 'Look, I will set my face against you for evil, even to cut off all Judah.

12 Und Judas Rest, der drauf besteht, sich zum Agypterlande zu begeben, um dort als Gast zu weilen, soll im Ägypterlande gänzlich aufgerieben werden. Vom Kleinsten bis zum Größten sterben sie durch Schwert und Hunger und werden so zum Fluch und zum Entsetzen, zum Spott und Hohn.

I will take the remnant of Judah, that have set their faces to go into the land of Egypt to live there, and they shall all be consumed; in the land of Egypt shall they fall; they shall be consumed by the sword and by the famine; they shall die, from the least even to the greatest, by the sword and by the famine; and they shall be an object of horror, an astonishment, and a curse, and a reproach.

13 Bestrafen will ich, die im Land Ägypten sich niederlassen, so wie ich Jerusalem bestraft, durch Schwert, durch Hunger und durch Pest.

For I will punish those who dwell in the land of Egypt, as I have punished Jerusalem, by the sword, by the famine, and by the pestilence;

14 So gut wie keiner soll entrinnen und entkommen von Judas Rest, von denen, die gewillt sind, als Gäste im Ägypterland zu weilen, um später in das Judaland zurückzukehren, obwohl sie voller Sehnsucht sind, daselbst sich wieder anzusiedeln. Sie kehren nicht zurück; sie schwinden."

so that none of the remnant of Judah, who have gone into the land of Egypt to live there, shall escape or be left, to return into the land of Judah, to which they have a desire to return to dwell there: for none shall return save such as shall escape.'"

15 Darauf erwiderten dem Jeremias die Männer all, die wußten, daß ihre Weiber andern Göttern räucherten, und alle Weiber, die in großen Haufen daneben standen, und alles andre Volk, das im Ägypterland in Patros wohnte:

Then all the men who knew that their wives burned incense to other gods, and all the women who stood by, a great assembly, even all the people who lived in the land of Egypt, in Pathros, answered Jeremiah, saying,

16 "Was du uns in des Herren Namen angekündigt, dem stimmen wir nicht bei.

"As for the word that you have spoken to us in the name of the LORD, we will not listen to you.

17 Wir tun vielmehr, was wir gelobt, der Himmelskönigin zu räuchern und Trankopfer ihr zu spenden, wie wir und unsere Väter, unsere Könige und Fürsten in Judas Städten einst getan und in den Straßen von Jerusalem. Denn damals hatten wir noch Brot genug und lebten froh, von keinem Ungemach beschwert.

But we will certainly perform every word that is gone forth out of our mouth, to burn incense to the queen of heaven, and to pour out drink offerings to her, as we have done, we and our fathers, our kings and our leaders, in the cities of Judah, and in the streets of Jerusalem; for then had we plenty of food, and were well, and saw no evil.

18 Seitdem wir aber unterließen, der Himmelskönigin zu räuchern und Trankopfer ihr auszugießen, mangelt's uns an allem, und wir wurden durch das Schwert und durch den Hunger aufgerieben.

But since we left off burning incense to the queen of heaven, and pouring out drink offerings to her, we have wanted all things, and have been consumed by the sword and by the famine."

19 Wenn wir der Himmelskönigin jetzt räuchern und ihr Trankopfer spenden, bereiten wir ihr Kuchen als ihr Bild und gießen ihr Trankopfer aus wohl ohne Wissen unsrer Männer?"

And the women said, "When we burned incense to the queen of heaven, and poured out drink offerings to her, did we make her cakes to worship her, and pour out drink offerings to her, without our husbands?"

20 Da sprach zum ganzen Volke Jeremias, zu Männern, Weibern und dem ganzen andern Volk, das eine solche Antwort ihm gegeben:

Then Jeremiah said to all the people, to the men, and to the women, even to all the people who had given him an answer, saying,

21 "Das Räucherwerk, das ihr verbrannt in Judas Städten und in den Straßen von Jerusalem, ihr selber, eure Väter, eure Könige und eure Fürsten und die Landbevölkerung, ist dies dem Herrn nicht in Erinnerung geblieben? Zu Herzen ging es ihm.

"The incense that you burned in the cities of Judah, and in the streets of Jerusalem, you and your fathers, your kings and your leaders, and the people of the land. Did not the LORD remember them, and did not it come into his mind,

22 Der Herr hielt's länger nicht mehr aus ob eurer Taten Schlechtigkeit, der Greuel wegen, die ihr triebet. Und euer Land ward wüste, öde und verflucht und menschenleer, wie's heut noch ist.

so that the LORD could no longer bear because of the evil of your doings, and because of the abominations which you have committed? Therefore your land has become a desolation, and an astonishment, and a curse, without inhabitant, as it is this day.

23 Gerade, weil ihr räuchertet und euch damit am Herrn verfehltet, nicht auf des Herren Stimme hörtet und nicht nach seiner Lehre, seinen Satzungen und Überlieferungen lebtet, darum traf euch dies Ungemach."

Because you have burned incense, and because you have sinned against the LORD, and have not obeyed the voice of the LORD, nor walked in his law, nor in his statutes, nor in his testimonies; therefore this evil has happened to you, as it is this day."

24 Alsdann sprach Jeremias zum gesamten Volk und allen Weibern:"Vernehmt das Wort des Herrn, ganz Juda, das im Land Ägypten weilt!

Moreover Jeremiah said to all the people, and to all the women, "Hear the word of the LORD, all Judah who are in the land of Egypt:

25 So spricht der Herr der Heerscharen, Gott Israels: 'Was ihr und eure Weiber offen ausgesprochen, vollbringt ihr auch mit euren Händen, also sprechend: "Wir wollen unsere Gelöbnisse erfüllen, die wir gemacht, der Himmelskönigin zu räuchern und ihr Trankopfer darzubringen." Und sie erfüllen euere Gelöbnisse, vollziehn getreulich euere Gelübde.'

Thus says the LORD of hosts, the God of Israel, saying, 'You and your wives have both spoken with your mouths, and with your hands have fulfilled it, saying, "We will surely perform our vows that we have vowed, to burn incense to the queen of heaven, and to pour out drink offerings to her": establish then your vows, and perform your vows.'

26 Drum hör' das Wort des Herrn, ganz Juda, das du im Land Ägypten weilst! Fürwahr, bei meinem großen Namen schwöre ich', so spricht der Herr, 'mein Name soll nicht fernerhin im Munde irgendeines Judamannes sein, so daß er spräche: "Bei dem Herrn, dem Herrn!" in irgendeinem Teil Ägyptens.

Therefore hear the word of the LORD, all Judah who dwell in the land of Egypt: 'Look, I have sworn by my great name,' says the LORD, 'that my name shall no more be named in the mouth of any man of Judah in all the land of Egypt, saying, "As the LORD lives."

27 Ich wache über sie zum Unheil, nicht zum Heile, und aufgerieben werden sollen alle Männer Judas, die sich im Land Ägypten finden, durchs Schwert und durch den Hunger bis zur Vernichtung!

Look, I watch over them for disaster, and not for good; and all the men of Judah who are in the land of Egypt shall be consumed by the sword and by the famine, until they are all gone.

28 Nur die dem Schwert Entronnenen, sie dürfen aus Ägypterland zum Lande Juda kehren, nur wenige an Zahl, damit der ganze Rest von Juda, der nach Ägypterland zum Aufenthalt gezogen, erkenne, wessen Worte sich erfüllen, die meinen oder ihre.

Those who escape the sword shall return out of the land of Egypt into the land of Judah, few in number; and all the remnant of Judah, who have gone into the land of Egypt to live there, shall know whose word shall stand, mine, or theirs.

29 Und dies soll euch zum Zeichen sein', ein Spruch des Herren, 'daß ich euretwegen diese Stätte strafe, damit ihr daraus seht, daß meine Worte auch an euch zum Unheil sich erfüllen können.'

This shall be the sign to you,' says the LORD, 'that I will punish you in this place, that you may know that my words shall surely stand against you for evil':

30 So spricht der Herr: 'Ich liefere Ägyptens König, Pharao Hophra, aus an seine Feinde, seine Widersacher, so wie ich Judas König Sedekias ausgeliefert dem Babelkönige Nebukadrezar, seinem Feind und Widersacher.'"

Thus says the LORD, 'Look, I will give Pharaoh Hophra king of Egypt into the hand of his enemies, and into the hand of those who seek his life; as I gave Zedekiah king of Judah into the hand of Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon, who was his enemy, and sought his life.'"
