1 Dies sind die Angehörigen des Bezirks, die aus der Exulantenschar heraufgezogen und die Babels König Nebukadrezar nach Babel geführt hatte. Sie kehrten heim nach Jerusalem und Juda, jeder in seine Stadt.
And these [are] the people of the land that went up, of the number of prisoners who were removed, whom Nabuchodonosor king of Babylon carried away to Babylon, and they returned to Juda and Jerusalem, every man to his city;
2 Sie, die mit Zerubbabel, Jesua, Nechemja, Seraja, Reelaja, Mordekai, Bilsan, Mispar, Bigwai, Rechum und Baana gekommen waren. Das ist die Zahl der Männer des Volkes Israel:

61 Und von den Priestersöhnen die Söhne des Chabaja und die des Hakkos, die Söhne Barzillais, der sich eine der Töchter des Gileaditers Barzillai zum Weibe genommen hatte und dann nach ihrem Namen benannt ward.
And of the children of the priests, the children of Labeia, the children of Akkus, the children of Berzellai, who took a wife of the daughter of Berzellai the Galaadite, and was called by their name.
62 Diese suchten die Schrift ihres Geschlechtsnachweises. Sie fand sich aber nicht vor, und so wurden sie vom Priestertum ausgeschlossen.
These sought their genealogy [as though] they had been reckoned, but they were not found; and they were removed, [as polluted], from the priesthood.
63 Der Tirsata sprach zu ihnen, sie dürften vom Hochheiligen nicht essen, bis ein Priester für Urim und Tummim erstünde.
And the Athersastha told them that they should not eat of the most holy things, until a priest should arise with Lights and Perfections.
64 Die ganze Gemeinde belief sich auf 42.360,
And all the congregation together [were] about forty-two thousand and three hundred and sixty;

68 Von den Familienhäuptern hatten manche, als sie zum Hause des Herrn in Jerusalem kamen, Spenden für das Gotteshaus gegeben, um es auf seiner Stelle zu errichten.
And [some] of the chiefs of families, when they went into the house of the Lord that was in Jerusalem, offered willingly for the house of God, to establish it on its prepared place.
69 Sie hatten für den Bauschatz je nach ihrer Habe an Gold 61.000 Drachmen gegeben, an Silber 5.000 Minen und 100 Priesterkleider.
According to their power they gave into the treasury of the work pure gold sixty-one thousand pieces, and five thousand pounds of silver, and one hundred priests' garments.
70 Die Priester, die Leviten und manche vom Volk, die Sänger, Torhüter und Tempelsklaven siedelten sich darin in ihren Städten an, ebenso das ganze übrige Israel in seinen Städten.
So the priests, and the Levites, and some of the people, and the singers, and the porters, and the Nathinim, lived in their cities, and all Israel in their cities.
