1 Dem Vorsänger mit Saitenspiel. Ein Psalm von David. Wenn ich rufe, antworte mir, Gott meiner Gerechtigkeit! In Bedrängnis hast du mir Raum gemacht; sei mir gnädig und höre mein Gebet!
For the music director. A psalm of David, to be accompanied by string instruments. When I call, please answer me, God who vindicates me. When I was hemmed in by troubles, you gave me a way out. Be gracious to me and hear my prayer.
2 Ihr Männersöhne, bis wann soll meine Herrlichkeit zur Schande sein? Bis wann werdet ihr Eitles lieben, Lüge suchen? (Sela)
How long will you people ruin my reputation? How long will you love what is worthless and tell lies? (Selah)
3 Erkennet doch, daß Jehova den Frommen für sich abgesondert hat! Jehova wird hören, wenn ich zu ihm rufe.
You should realize that the Lord shows special favor to the faithful. The Lord listens when I call to him.
4 Seid erregt, und sündiget nicht! Denket nach in eurem Herzen auf eurem Lager, und seid stille! (Sela)
Be in awe, do not sin. When you rest, reflect on this, and keep quiet! (Selah)
5 Opfert Opfer der Gerechtigkeit, und vertrauet auf Jehova!
Offer sacrifices with the right attitude. Trust in the Lord.
6 Viele sagen: Wer wird uns Gutes schauen lassen? Erhebe, Jehova über uns das Licht deines Angesichts!
Many say, “Who is going to show us some good?” Lord, may your face shine upon us.
7 Du hast Freude in mein Herz gegeben, mehr als zur Zeit, da ihres Kornes und ihres Mostes viel war.
The happiness you give me is better than those who have a plentiful harvest of grain and new wine.
8 In Frieden werde ich sowohl mich niederlegen als auch schlafen; denn du, Jehova, allein lässest mich in Sicherheit wohnen.
I will lie down in peace and sleep, for you, Lord, alone keep me safe.
