Jesaja 58
1 Rufe aus voller Kehle, halte nicht zurück! erhebe deine Stimme gleich einer Posaune, und tue meinem Volke seine Übertretung [Eig. ihren Abfall] kund, und dem Hause Jakob seine Sünden!
Give a roar from the throat! Don't hold back! Shout out like a trumpet! Announce to my people how rebellious they are; denounce to the descendants of Jacob their sins.
2 Und doch fragen sie nach mir Tag für Tag und begehren meine Wege zu kennen; gleich einer Nation, welche Gerechtigkeit übt und das Recht ihres Gottes nicht verlassen hat, fordern sie von mir Gerichte der Gerechtigkeit, begehren das Herannahen Gottes.
Every day they come to me, pleased to know my ways as if they were a nation that does what is right and follow the laws of their God! They ask me to treat them right; they like to be close to their God.
3 "Warum haben wir gefastet, und du hast es nicht gesehen, unsere Seelen kasteit, und du hast es nicht gemerkt?" Siehe, am Tage eures Fastens geht ihr euren Geschäften nach und dränget alle eure Arbeiter. [O. und fordert streng alle eure Arbeiten]
“Didn't you see that we fasted?” they ask. “Didn't you notice how we denied ourselves?” That's because whenever you fast you still do whatever you want, and you treat your workers badly.
4 Siehe, zu Hader und Zank fastet ihr, und um zu schlagen mit boshafter Faust. Heutzutage fastet ihr nicht, um eure Stimme hören zu lassen in der Höhe.
Can't you see that when you're fasting you quarrel and argue, and end up having a vicious fist-fight? When you fast like this you can't expect your prayers to be heard on high!
5 Ist dergleichen ein Fasten, an dem ich Gefallen habe, ein Tag, an welchem der Mensch seine Seele kasteit? Seinen Kopf zu beugen wie ein Schilf, und Sacktuch und Asche unter sich zu betten, nennst du das ein Fasten und einen dem Jehova wohlgefälligen Tag?
Is this the kind of fast I want when people act out their humility by bowing their heads down like a reed and by lying around in sackcloth and ashes? Is that what you call a fast, a day the Lord appreciates?
6 Ist nicht dieses ein Fasten, an dem ich Gefallen habe: daß man löse die Schlingen der Bosheit, daß man losmache die Knoten des Joches und gewalttätig Behandelte als Freie entlasse, und daß ihr jedes Joch zersprenget?
No, this is the fast I want: set free those who have been unjustly imprisoned, untie the cords of the yoke used to burden people, set free those who are oppressed, and get rid of every form of abuse.
7 Besteht es nicht darin, dein Brot dem Hungrigen zu brechen, und daß du verfolgte [O. umherirrende] Elende ins Haus führst? wenn du einen Nackten siehst, daß du ihn bedeckst und deinem Fleische dich nicht entziehst?
Share your food with the hungry, take the poor and homeless into your house. When you see people naked, give them clothes, and don't reject your own relatives.
8 Dann wird dein Licht hervorbrechen wie die Morgenröte, und deine Heilung wird eilends sprossen; und deine Gerechtigkeit wird vor dir herziehen, die Herrlichkeit Jehovas wird deine Nachhut sein.
Then your light will shine out like the dawn, and you will be healed quickly; your salvation will go before you, and the glory of the Lord will go behind you.
9 Dann wirst du rufen, und Jehova wird antworten; du wirst um Hülfe schreien, und er wird sagen: Hier bin ich! Wenn du das Joch, das Fingerausstrecken [d. h. das Fingerdeuten, als Verhöhnung; wie Spr. 6,13] und unheilvolle Reden aus deiner Mitte hinwegtust,
Then when you call, the Lord will answer; when you cry out for help, the Lord will say, “I'm here.” If you get rid of oppression among you, if you stop pointing the finger and slandering others,
10 und deine Speise [W. Seele; od.: Gier, Hunger; d. h. also hier was den Hunger stillt] dem Hungrigen darreichst und die niedergedrückte Seele sättigst: so wird dein Licht aufgehen in der Finsternis, und dein Dunkel wird sein wie der Mittag.
if you dedicate yourselves to helping the hungry and give the poor what they need, then your light will shine out in the darkness, and your night will be like the sun at noon.
11 Und beständig wird Jehova dich leiten, und er wird deine Seele sättigen in Zeiten [O. an Örtern] der Dürre und deine Gebeine rüstig machen. Und du wirst sein wie ein bewässerter Garten und wie ein Wasserquell, dessen Gewässer nicht trügen.
The Lord will always lead you; he will give you all you need in you in a desolate land; he will make you strong again. You will be like a well-watered garden, like a spring that never runs dry.
12 Und die aus dir kommen, werden die uralten Trümmer aufbauen; die Grundmauern vergangener Geschlechter wirst du aufrichten; und du wirst genannt werden: Vermaurer der Lücken, Wiederhersteller bewohnbarer Straßen.
Some among you will rebuild the ancient ruins; you will restore generations-old foundations. You will be called the Repairer of the Break in the Wall, the Restorer of Life's Pathways.
13 Wenn du deinen Fuß vom Sabbath zurückhältst, daß du dein Geschäft nicht tust an meinem heiligen Tage, und den Sabbath ein Ergötzen und den heiligen Tag Jehovas ehrwürdig nennst; und wenn du ihn ehrst, so daß du nicht deine Wege verfolgst, [Eig. tust] dein Geschäft treibst und eitle Worte redest:
If you make sure you don't break the Sabbath by doing whatever you please on my holy day, if you say the Sabbath brings you pleasure and the Lord's day is to be honored, and if you honor it by leaving aside your own ways, by not doing whatever you please, and by avoiding everyday chatting,
14 dann wirst du dich an Jehova ergötzen, und ich werde dich einherfahren lassen auf den Höhen der Erde, [Vergl. 5. Mose 32,13;33,29] und werde dich speisen mit dem Erbteil Jakobs, deines Vaters; denn der Mund Jehovas hat geredet.
then you'll find the Lord is the one who truly makes you happy, and I will give you high positions on the earth and give you what I promised to Jacob, your forefather. I, the Lord, have spoken.
