1 He wode Galila dere hariza Herdosay asay Yesusa nashizaysa siydess.
At that time, Herod the tetrarch, hearing of the fame of Jesus,
2 Herdosay ba ashikaratas “Hessa gidikko xamaqiza Yanisay hayqoppe dendidi yidess gusakka! Haysi wuri gitta malatay iza kushen othetizay hessasa” gidess.
said to his servants, This is John the Immerser; he is raised from the dead and therefore miracles are performed by him.
3 Herdosay ba isha Piliposa machcho Herodiyada gason Yanisa oythidi qasho keth (woynene) yegidess.
For Herod had caused John to be apprehended, imprisoned, and bound, on account of Herodias, his brother Philip's wife;
4 Gaasoykka Yanisay Herodossa ne izo ekkana mala wogga gidena gida gishasa. Footnote- Pilip is stil alive
for John had said to him, It is not lawful for you to have her.
5 Heredosaykka yanisa wodhanas koyshin asay Yanisa nabe mala xeliza gish babidess.
And Herod would have put him to death, but was afraid of the populace, who accounted him a prophet.
6 Herodosay ba yeletetha galas Herodiyada naya yethan iza ufaysida gish naya iza oychidaz wursi imanas izis caqidess.
But when Herod's birthday was kept, the daughter of Herodias danced before the company, and pleased Herod,
7
wherefore he swore he would grant her whatever she would ask.
8 Nayakka ayeyi zoren xamaqiza Yanisa hu7ey keren wothada ah7i hanini tas imma gadus.
She being instigated by her mother, said, Give me here, in a basin, the head of John the Immerser.
9 He wode kawoy michetidess. Gido atin caaqida gishine izara diza imathata gish giidi nay oychoy polistanamala azazidess.
And the king was sorry; nevertheless, from a regard to his oath and his guests, he commanded that it should be given her.
10 Kiitidine Yanisay woyne kethan dishin qoodhdhe qanxisidess.
Accordingly John was beheaded in the prison by his order.
11 Qanxetida hu7eza keren wothidi nays imida. Nayakka ekkada ba ayeys immadus.
And his head was brought in a basin, and presented to the young woman; and she carried it to her mother.
12 Yanisa kalizayti iza aha ekidi moogidine hanidaysa wursi Yesusas yotida.
After which, his disciples went and brought the body, and having buried it, came and told Jesus.
13 Hessa siyida mala Yesusay kasse ba dizaso agidine wogolon gelidi berkka hara poqethaso bidess. Dereykka hessa siydi katamay dizasoppe tohora iza kaalidess.
When Jesus heard this, he embarked privately; and retired into a desert place; of which the people being informed followed him by land out of the cities.
14 Yesusay wogolozappe wodhishe daro asa beydi asas michetidess. Saketizaytakka pathidess.
Observing, as he landed, a great multitude, he had compassion on them, and healed their sick.
15 Galasaykka qammi qammi bizaysa beyidi iza kalizayti izako shiqidi haysi nu dizasoy bazokko, gadeykka qami qami biza gish gede mandara bidi bes manaz shamana mala asa yeda gida.
Toward the evening, his disciples accosted him, saying, This is a desert place, and the time is now past, dismiss the multitude, that they may go to the villages; and buy themselves provisions.
16 Gido atin Yesusay ista “inte asas manaz imite atin asay banas koshena gidess.
Jesus answered, They need not go. Supply them yourselves.
17 Istika istas zaridi “hayssan nus ichachu ukethine nam7u molistappe atin haray bawa” gida.
They said to him, We have here but five loaves and two fishes.
18 Izikka ista ane he dizayta ha tass ekki yite gidess.
He replied, Bring them hither to me.
19 Qassekka asay maata bola utana mala azazides ichachu ukethane nam7u molista ba kushen oykidi ba ayfe pude salo doqu histidi galatidi uketha menthidi bena kalizaytas imidess. Istika asaas imidda.
Then having commanded the people to recline upon the grass, he took the five loaves and the two fishes, and looking toward heaven, blessed them; then breaking the loaves, he gave them to the disciples, and they distributed them among the people.
20 Asay wurikka midi kalidess. Hessappe guye iza kalizayti asappe mishin atidaysa tamane nam7u masobe kumeth shishida.
When all had eat, and were satisfied, they carried off twelve baskets full of the fragments that remained.
21 Mida asay macashane gutha nayti gujetonta atumasi xalala ichachu shi gidana.
Now they that had eat were about five thousand men; besides women and children.
22 Herakka iza kalizayti wogolon gelidi gede he pinth izappe kasetidi pinana mala azazidi asa moyzanas bess guye atidess.
Immediately he obliged the disciples to embark and pass over before him, while he dismissed the multitude.
23 Dereza moyzidape guye wosa wossanas berkka zumma bolla kezidess. Gadey dhuminkka hen zumma bolla berkka dess.
Having dismissed the multitude, he retired by himself to a mountain to pray, and remained there alone.
24 Hessa wode wogoloya abba kantha bishin bulahey dendidi daro metotho oyqidess.
By that time the bark was half way over, tossed by the waves, for the wind was contrary.
25 Qaamappe koyro kutoy zamare baqishin (uushin) Yesusay abba bollara hamutidi iza kalizayti dizaso yidess.
In the fourth watch of the night Jesus went to them, walking on the sea.
26 Yesusa kalizaytikka izi abba bollara hamuti yishin beydi babidi iza moytil7e gidine babidi wasida.
When the disciples saw him walking on the sea, being terrified, they exclaimed, An apparition! and cried out for fear.
27 Yesusaykka herakka aykkoy ba tanakko babofite gidess.
Jesus immediately spoke to them, saying, Take courage; it is I, be not afraid.
28 Pexirosay Godo, nena gidikko ta abba bollara hamutada neekko bana mala tana azaza gidess.
Peter answering, said to him, If it be you, Master, bid me to come to you on the water.
29 izikka iza haya gidess. Pexirosaykka wogolozappe wodhidi hatha bolara hamutidi Yesusakko yidess.
Jesus said, Come. Then Peter getting out of the bark, walked on the water toward Jesus.
30 Gido atin carkoza wolqa beyidi babida gish hathan miteteth oyqidi “Godo tana asha gidi waasidess.”
But finding the wind boisterous, he was frightened; and beginning to sink, cried, Master, save me.
31 Yesusay herakka ba kushe yedi oykidi “neno amanoy pacidayso aazas sidhadi?” gidess.
Jesus instantly stretching out his hand, caught him; and said to him, Distrustful man, wherefore did you doubt?
32 Pexirosayne Yesusay wogolozan gelida mala carkoy sirphi gidess.
When they had gone aboard, the wind ceased.
33 Hessappe guye wogolon dizayti “Neni tumu Xoossa na” giidi izas goynida.
Then those in the bark came, and prostrated themselves before him, saying, You are assuredly God's son.
34 Aaba pinidi Genserexe gizaso gakida.
Having passed over, they landed on the territory of Gennesaret;
35 Hen dizayti Yesusa gididaysa erida wode he heran yuyi adhanas diza asas kiita yedida. Asaykka harganchata wursikka Yesusakko ehidess.
the inhabitants of which knowing him, sent through all that country, and brought to him all the diseased,
36 Harganchati iza afala xera xala bochana mala Yesusa wosida. Bochidayti wurikka paxida.
who besought him to let them touch but a tuft of his mantle; and as man as touched were cured.
