Proverbes 3
1 Mon fils, n’oublie pas ma loi, et que ton cœur garde mes préceptes,
My sonne, forget not thou my Lawe, but let thine heart keepe my commandements.
2 Car ils t’apporteront la longueur des jours, des années de vie, et la paix.
For they shall increase the length of thy dayes and the yeeres of life, and thy prosperitie.
3 Que la miséricorde et la vérité ne t’abandonnent pas: mets-les autour de ton cou, grave-les sur les tables de ton cœur:
Let not mercie and trueth forsake thee: binde them on thy necke, and write them vpon the table of thine heart.
4 Et tu trouveras grâce et une bonne discipline devant Dieu et les hommes.
So shalt thou finde fauour and good vnderstanding in the sight of God and man.
5 Aie confiance dans le Seigneur de tout ton cœur, et ne t’appuie pas sur ta prudence.
Trust in the Lord with all thine heart, and leane not vnto thine owne wisdome.
6 Dans toutes tes voies, pense à lui, et lui-même dirigera tes pas.
In all thy wayes acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy wayes.
7 Ne sois pas sage à tes propres yeux: crains Dieu, et éloigne-toi du mal;
Be not wise in thine owne eyes: but feare the Lord, and depart from euill.
8 Car ce sera la santé pour ton corps et une irrigation pour tes os.
So health shalbe vnto thy nauel, and marowe vnto thy bones.
9 Honore le Seigneur de ton bien, et donne-lui des prémices de tous tes fruits;
Honour the Lord with thy riches, and with the first fruites of all thine increase.
10 Et tes greniers seront remplis d’abondance, et tes pressoirs regorgeront de vin.
So shall thy barnes be filled with abundance, and thy presses shall burst with newe wine.
11 Ne rejetteras, mon fils, la discipline du Seigneur: et ne te décourage pas, lorsque par lui tu es châtié;
My sonne, refuse not the chastening of the Lord, neither be grieued with his correction.
12 Car le Seigneur châtie celui qu’il aime, et il se complaît en lui comme un père en son fils.
For the Lord correcteth him, whome he loueth, euen as the father doeth the childe in whom he deliteth.
13 Bienheureux l’homme qui a trouvé la sagesse, et qui est riche en prudence:
Blessed is the man that findeth wisedome, and the man that getteth vnderstanding.
14 L’acquisition de la sagesse vaut mieux que le commerce de l’argent, et ses fruits sont préférables à l’or le meilleur et le plus pur;
For the marchandise thereof is better then the marchandise of siluer, and the gaine thereof is better then golde.
15 Elle est plus précieuse que toutes les richesses; et tout ce qu’on désire ne peut lui être comparé.
It is more precious then pearles: and all things that thou canst desire, are not to be compared vnto her.
16 La longueur des jours est dans sa droite; et dans sa gauche sont les richesses et la gloire.
Length of dayes is in her right hand, and in her left hand riches and glory.
17 Ses voies sont des voies belles, et tous ses sentiers sont pacifiques.
Her wayes are wayes of pleasure, and all her pathes prosperitie.
18 Elle est un arbre de vie pour ceux qui la saisissent, et celui qui la tient est bienheureux.
She is a tree of life to them that lay holde on her, and blessed is he that retaineth her.
19 Le Seigneur, par la sagesse, a fondé la terre: il a affermi les cieux par la prudence.
The Lord by wisdome hath layde the foundation of the earth, and hath stablished the heauens through vnderstanding.
20 Par sa sagesse ont paru tout à coup des abîmes, et les nuées se chargent de rosée.
By his knowledge the depthes are broken vp, and the cloudes droppe downe the dewe.
21 Mon fils, que ces choses ne s’éloignent pas de tes yeux; garde la loi et le conseil;
My sonne, let not these things depart from thine eyes, but obserue wisdome, and counsell.
22 Et ce sera la vie pour ton âme, et un ornement à ton cou;
So they shalbe life to thy soule, and grace vnto thy necke.
23 Alors tu marcheras avec assurance dans ta voie, et ton pied ne se heurtera pas;
Then shalt thou walke safely by thy way: and thy foote shall not stumble.
24 Si tu dors, tu ne craindras pas: tu reposeras, et doux sera ton sommeil;
If thou sleepest, thou shalt not bee afraide, and when thou sleepest, thy sleepe shalbe sweete.
25 Ne redoute pas une terreur soudaine, ni les puissances des impies fondant sur toi.
Thou shalt not feare for any sudden feare, neither for the destruction of the wicked, when it commeth.
26 Car le Seigneur sera à ton côté, et il gardera ton pied, afin que tu ne sois point pris.
For the Lord shall be for thine assurance, and shall preserue thy foote from taking.
27 N’empêche point de bien faire celui qui le peut: si tu es en état, fais toi-même bien.
Withhold not the good from the owners thereof, though there be power in thine hand to doe it.
28 Ne dis pas à ton ami: Va et reviens; demain je te donnerai, lorsqu’à l’instant tu peux donner.
Say not vnto thy neighbour, Go and come againe, and to morow wil I giue thee, if thou now haue it.
29 Ne machine pas de mal contre ton ami, puisque lui en toi a confiance.
Intend none hurt against thy neighbour, seeing he doeth dwell without feare by thee.
30 Ne dispute pas avec un homme sans sujet, lorsque lui-même ne t’a rien fait de mal.
Striue not with a man causelesse, when he hath done thee no harme.
31 Ne porte pas envie à un homme injuste, et n’imite pas ses voies,
Bee not enuious for the wicked man, neither chuse any of his wayes.
32 Parce que c’est l’abomination du Seigneur, qu’un moqueur; et que c’est avec les simples qu’est sa conversation.
For the frowarde is abomination vnto the Lord: but his secret is with the righteous.
33 La détresse viendra du Seigneur dans la maison de l’impie; mais les habitations des justes seront bénies.
The curse of the Lord is in the house of the wicked: but he blesseth the habitation of the righteous.
34 Il se jouera lui-même des moqueurs; et aux hommes doux il donnera sa grâce.
With the scornefull he scorneth, but hee giueth grace vnto the humble.
35 Les sages posséderont la gloire: l’élévation des insensés sera l’ignominie.
The wise shall inherite glorie: but fooles dishonour, though they be exalted.
