Josué 13
1 Josué était vieux et d’un âge fort avancé, et le Seigneur lui dit: Tu es vieux, et même très avancé en âge, et une terre très étendue est restée, qui n’a pas été encore divisée par le sort:
Now Joshua was old, well stricken in years; and the Lord said unto him, Thou art old, stricken in years, and of the land there remaineth yet very much to be taken possession of.
2 Savoir, toute la Galilée, la terre des Philistins et toute celle de Gessuri,
This is the land that yet remaineth: All the circles of the Philistines, and all [the land of the] Geshurites,
3 Depuis le fleuve fangeux qui arrose l’Egypte jusqu’aux confins d’Accaron, contre l’aquilon; la terre de Chanaan qui est partagée entre les cinq princes des Philistins, celui de Gaza, celui d’Azot, celui d’Ascalon, celui de Geth et celui d’Accaron.
From the Shichor, which runneth before Egypt, even unto the boundary of 'Ekron northward, is counted to the Canaanites; the five lords of the Philistines; the Gazzathites, and the Ashdodites, the Eshkelonites, the Gittites, and the 'Ekronites; also the 'Avvim;
4 Mais au midi sont les Hévéens, toute la terre de Chanaan, Maara des Sidoniens, jusqu’à Aphéca et jusqu’aux frontières des Amorrhéens,
On the south, all the land of the Canaanites, and Me'arah that belongeth to the Zidonians, up to Aphek, up to the border of the Emorites;
5 Et jusqu’aux pays qui leur sont voisins; de plus, la contrée du Liban contre l’orient, depuis Baalgad, au-dessous de la montagne d’Hermon, jusqu’à ce qu’on entre à Emath;
And the land of the Giblites, and all Lebanon, toward the rising of the sun, from Ba'al-gad under mount Chermon up to the entrance of Chamath.
6 La contrée de tous ceux qui habitent sur la montagne, depuis le Liban jusqu’aux eaux de Maséréphoth, et tous les Sidoniens. Je suis celui qui les exterminerai de la face des enfants d’Israël. Que cela entre donc dans la part de l’héritage d’Israël, comme je t’ai ordonné.
All the inhabitants of the mountain from Lebanon unto Missrephoth-mayim, all the Zidonians: these will I drive out from before the children of Israel; only divide thou it by lot unto the Israelites for an inheritance, as I have commanded thee.
7 Et maintenant partage la terre en possession aux neuf tribus, et à la demi-tribu de Manassé,
And now divide this land for an inheritance unto the nine tribes, and the half tribe of Menasseh.
8 Avec laquelle Ruben et Gad possédèrent déjà la terre que leur a livrée Moïse, serviteur du Seigneur, au-delà des courants du Jourdain, du côté oriental,
With him the Reubenites and the Gadites have received their inheritance, which Moses gave unto them, beyond the Jordan eastward, as Moses the servant of the Lord hath given them;
9 Depuis Aroer, qui est située sur la rive du torrent d’Arnon, et au milieu de la vallée; de plus, toute la campagne de Médaba, jusqu’à Dibon;
From 'Aro'er, that is upon the bank of the brook Arnon, and the city that is in the midst of the brook, and all the plain of Medeba up to Dibon;
10 Et toutes les villes de Séhon, roi de l’Amorrhéen, lequel a régné à Hésébon, jusqu’aux frontières des enfants d’Ammon:
And all the cities of Sichon the king of the Emorites, who reigned over Cheshbon, up to the border of the children of 'Ammon;
11 Galaad, les confins de Gessuri et de Machati; toute la montagne d’Hermon, et tout le Basan, jusqu’à Salécha,
And Gil'ad, and the territory of the Geshurites and Ma'achathites, and all mount Chermon, and all Bashan up to Salchah;
12 Tout le royaume d’Og en Basan, lequel a régné à Astaroth et à Edraï, et qui était des restes des Raphaïm; et Moïse les battit et les détruisit.
All the kingdom of 'Og in Bashan, who reigned in 'Ashtaroth and in Edre'i; who had been left of the remnant of the Rephaim; and Moses smote them, and cast them out.
13 Cependant les enfants d’Israël ne voulurent pas exterminer ceux de Gessuri et de Machati; aussi ont-ils habité au milieu d’Israël jusqu’au présent jour.
Nevertheless the children of Israel expelled not the Geshurites and the Ma'achathites; but the Geshurites and the Ma'achathites continued to dwell in the midst of the Israelites until this day.
14 Mais à la tribu de Lévi. Moïse ne donna point de possession, parce que les sacrifices et les victimes du Seigneur Dieu d’Israël sont son héritage, comme lui a dit le Seigneur.
Only unto the tribe of Levi he gave no inheritance: the fire-offerings of the Lord, the God of Israel, are their inheritance, as he hath spoken unto them.
15 Moïse donna donc des possessions à la tribu des enfants de Ruben, selon sa parenté.
And Moses gave unto the tribe of the children of Reuben according to their families;
16 Et sa limite fut depuis Aroer, qui est située sur la rive du torrent d’Arnon, et au milieu de la vallée du même torrent, toute la plaine qui conduit à Médaba,
And their territory was from 'Aro'er, that is on the bank of the brook Arnon, and the city that is in the midst of the brook, and all the plain by Medeba;
17 Hésébon, et tous leurs villages qui sont dans la campagne; Dibon aussi, Bamothbaal, la ville de Baalméon,
Cheshbon, and all its cities that are in the plain; Dibon, and Bamoth-ba'al, and Beth-ba'al-me'on,
18 Jassa, Cédimoth, Méphaath,
And Yahzah, and Kedemoth, and Mepha'ath,
19 Cariathaïm, Sabama, Sarathasar sur la montagne de la vallée,
And Kiryathayim, and Sibmah, and Zereth-hashachar on the mount of the valley,
20 Bethphogor et Asédoth, Phasga et Bethiésimoth,
And Beth-pe'or, and the declivities of Pisgah, and Beth-hayeshimoth,
21 Et toutes les villes de la plaine, tous les royaumes de Séhon, roi de l’Amorrhéen, qui régna à Hésébon, que Moïse battit avec les princes de Madian, Hévi, Résem, Sur, Hur et Rébé, chefs de Séhon, habitants de cette terre.
And all the cities of the plain, and all the kingdom of Sichon the king of the Emorites, who reigned in Cheshbon, whom Moses smote with the princes of Midian, Evi, and Rekem, and Zur, and Chur, and Reba', the dukes of Sichon, the dwellers of the country.
22 Et les enfants d’Israël firent mourir par le glaive Balaam le devin, fils de Béor, avec tous les autres qui furent tués,
And Bil'am the son of Be'or, the soothsayer, did the children of Israel slay with the sword among their slain.
23 Et le Jourdain devint la limite des enfants de Ruben. C’est là la possession des villes et des villages des Rubénites, selon leur parenté.
And the boundary of the children of Reuben was the Jordan, and its bordering territory. This was the inheritance of the children of Reuben after their families, the cities and their villages.
24 Moïse donna aussi à la tribu de Gad et a ses enfants, selon leur parenté, une possession dont voici la division:
And Moses gave unto the tribe of Gad, unto the children of Gad according to their families;
25 Sa limite fut Jaser, toutes les villes de Galaad, et la moitié de la terre des enfants d’Ammon, jusqu’à Aroer, qui est contre Rabba,
And their territory was Ya'zer, and all the cities of Gil'ad, and half the land of the children of 'Ammon, up to 'Aro'er that is before Rabbah;
26 Depuis Hésébon jusqu’à Ramoth, Masphé et Betonim, et depuis Manaïm jusqu’aux confins de Dabir;
And from Cheshbon unto Ramath-mizpeh, and Betonim; and from Machanayim up to the border of Debir;
27 De plus, dans la vallée de Betharan, de Bethnemra, de Socoth et de Saphon, reste du royaume de Séhon, roi d’Hésébon; sa limite est aussi le Jourdain jusqu’à l’extrémité de la mer de Généreth, au-delà du Jourdain, du côté oriental.
And in the valley, Beth-haram, and Beth-nimrah, and Succoth, and Zaphon, the rest of the kingdom of Sichon the king of Cheshbon, the Jordan and its bordering territory, up to the edge of the sea of Kinnereth on the other side of the Jordan eastward.
28 Voilà la possession des enfants de Gad, selon leurs familles, voilà les villes et les villages de ces familles.
This is the inheritance of the children of Gad after their families, the cities and their villages.
29 Moïse donna aussi à la demi-tribu de Manassé et à ses enfants, selon leur parenté, une possession,
And Moses gave unto the half tribe of Menasseh; and it belonged to the half tribe of the children of Menasseh after their families;
30 Dont voici le commencement: Depuis Manaïm, tout Basan, tous les royaumes d’Og, roi de Bazan, tous les bourgs de Jaïr qui sont en Basan, soixante villes;
And their territory was from Machanayim, all Bashan, all the kingdom of 'Og the king of Bashan, and all the villages of Ya'ir, which are in Bashan, sixty cities;
31 Et la moitié de Galaad, Astaroth et Edraï, villes du royaume d’Og, en Basan, aux enfants de Machir, fils de Manassé, c’est-à-dire à la moitié des enfants de Machir, selon leur parenté.
And half Gil'ad and 'Ashtaroth, and Edre'i, the cities of the kingdom of 'Og in Bashan, [belonged] unto the children of Machir the son of Menasseh, even to the one half of the children of Machir after their families.
32 Moïse partagea cette possession dans la plaine de Moab, au-delà du Jourdain, contre Jéricho, du côté oriental.
These are they to whom Moses did distribute an inheritance in the plans of Moab, on the other side of the Jordan, by Jericho, eastward.
33 Mais à la tribu de Lévi, il ne donna pas de possession, parce que le Seigneur Dieu d’Israël est lui-même sa possession, comme il lui a dit.
But unto the tribe of Levi Moses gave not any inheritance: the Lord the God of Israel is himself their inheritance, as he hath spoken unto them.
