2 Chroniques 7
1 Lorsque Salomon eut achevé de se répandre en prières, le feu descendit du ciel, et consuma les holocaustes et les victimes; et la majesté du Seigneur remplit la maison.
And at Solomon’s finishing to pray, then the fire has come down from the heavens and consumes the burnt-offering and the sacrifices, and the glory of YHWH has filled the house,
2 Et les prêtres mêmes ne pouvaient entrer dans le temple du Seigneur, parce que la majesté du Seigneur avait rempli le temple du Seigneur.
and the priests have not been able to go into the house of YHWH, because the glory of YHWH has filled the house of YHWH.
3 Mais tous les enfants d’Israël aussi virent descendre le feu et la gloire du Seigneur sur la maison; et tombant, inclinés vers la terre, sur le pavé qui était de pierre, ils adorèrent et louèrent le Seigneur: Parce qu’il est bon, parce que sa miséricorde est éternelle.
And all the sons of Israel are looking on the descending of the fire, and the glory of YHWH on the house, and they bow—faces to the earth—on the pavement, and pay respect, and give thanks to YHWH, [saying], “For [He is] good, for His kindness [is] for all time!”
4 Or le roi et tout le peuple immolaient des victimes devant le Seigneur.
And the king and all the people are sacrificing a sacrifice before YHWH,
5 Le roi Salomon tua donc vingt-deux mille bœufs et cent vingt mille béliers; et le roi dédia, ainsi que tout le peuple, la maison du Seigneur.
and King Solomon sacrifices the sacrifice: twenty-two thousand of the herd and one hundred and twenty thousand of the flock; and the king and all the people dedicate the house of God.
6 Or les prêtres étaient appliqués à leurs fonctions, et les Lévites jouaient des instruments propres aux cantiques du Seigneur qu’a composés le roi David pour louer le Seigneur: Parce que sa miséricorde est éternelle; chantant les hymnes de David sur leurs instruments; mais les prêtres sonnaient des trompettes devant eux, et tout Israël était debout.
And the priests are standing over their charges, and the Levites with instruments of the song of YHWH that David the king made, to give thanks to YHWH, for His kindness [is] for all time, in David’s praising by their hand—and the priests are blowing trumpets opposite them, and all of Israel is standing.
7 Salomon consacra aussi le milieu du parvis devant le temple du Seigneur; car il avait offert là les holocaustes et les graisses des hosties pacifiques, parce que l’autel d’airain qu’il avait fait ne pouvait tenir les holocaustes, les sacrifices et les graisses.
And Solomon sanctifies the middle of the court that [is] before the house of YHWH, for he has made the burnt-offerings and the fat of the peace-offerings there, for the altar of bronze that Solomon made has not been able to contain the burnt-offering, and the present, and the fat.
8 Salomon fit donc en ce temps-là la solennité pendant sept jours, et tout Israël avec lui: assemblée très grande, venue depuis l’entrée d’Emath jusqu’au torrent d’Égypte.
And Solomon makes the celebration at that time [for] seven days, and all Israel with him—a very great assembly—from the entering in of Hamath to the Brook of Egypt.
9 Et au huitième jour, il fit une réunion, parce qu’il avait dédié l’autel durant sept jours, et qu’il avait célébré la solennité durant sept jours.
And they make a restraint on the eighth day, because they have made the dedication of the altar [for] seven days, and the celebration [for] seven days.
10 Ainsi, au vingt-troisième jour du septième mois, il renvoya dans leurs tabernacles les peuples se livrant à l’allégresse, et se réjouissant du bien qu’avait fait le Seigneur à David, à Salomon et à Israël son peuple.
And on the twenty-third day of the seventh month he has sent the people to their tents, rejoicing, and glad in heart, for the goodness that YHWH has done to David, and to Solomon, and to His people Israel.
11 Salomon acheva donc la maison du Seigneur, la maison du roi, et tout ce qu’il s’était proposé en son cœur de faire dans la maison du Seigneur et dans sa propre maison, et il prospéra.
And Solomon finishes the house of YHWH, and the house of the king; and all that has come on the heart of Solomon to do in the house of YHWH, and in his own house, he has caused to prosper.
12 Or le Seigneur lui apparut pendant la nuit, et dit: J’ai entendu ta prière, et choisi ce lieu pour moi, comme une maison de sacrifice.
And YHWH appears to Solomon by night and says to him, “I have heard your prayer, and have fixed on this place for Myself for a house of sacrifice.
13 Si je ferme le ciel, et qu’il ne tombe point de pluie; si j’ordonne et je commande à la sauterelle de dévorer la terre, et si j’envoie une peste à mon peuple,
If I restrain the heavens and there is no rain, and if I lay charge on the locust to consume the land, and if I send pestilence among My people—
14 Mais que, converti, mon peuple, sur qui a été invoqué mon nom. me prie, et qu’il recherche ma face, et qu’il fasse pénitence de ses voies très mauvaises, alors moi je les exaucerai du ciel, et je pardonnerai leurs péchés, et je purifierai leur terre.
and My people on whom My Name is called are humbled, and pray, and seek My face, and turn back from their evil ways, then I hear from the heavens, and forgive their sin, and heal their land.
15 Mes yeux aussi seront ouverts, et mes oreilles attentives à la prière de celui qui priera en ce lieu;
Now My eyes are open and My ears attentive to the prayer of this place;
16 Car j’ai choisi et j’ai sanctifié ce lieu, afin que mon nom y soit à jamais, et que mes yeux et mon cœur y demeurent constamment tous les jours.
and now, I have chosen and sanctified this house for My Name being there for all time; indeed, My eyes and My heart have been there [for] all the days.
17 Et toi-même, si tu marches devant moi comme a marché David ton père; si tu fais selon tout ce que je t’ai ordonné, et que tu gardes mes lois et mes ordonnances,
And you, if you walk before Me as your father David walked, even to do according to all that I have commanded you, and keep My statutes and My judgments—
18 J’élèverai le trône de ton règne comme je l’ai promis à David, ton père, disant: On n’enlèvera pas à ta race un homme qui doit être prince en Israël.
then I have established the throne of your kingdom, as I covenanted with your father David, saying, A man of yours is never cut off [from] ruling in Israel;
19 Mais si vous vous détournez, et que vous abandonniez mes lois et mes préceptes que je vous ai proposés, et que, vous en allant, vous serviez des dieux étrangers et les adoriez,
and if you turn back—you—and have forsaken My statutes and My commands that I have placed before you, and have gone and served other gods, and bowed yourselves to them—then I have plucked them from off My ground that I have given to them,
20 Je vous arracherai de ma terre que je vous ai donnée; et cette maison que j’ai consacrée à mon nom, je la rejetterai de ma face, et je la livrerai en proverbe et en exemple à tous les peuples.
and this house that I have sanctified for My Name, I cast from before My face, and make it for a proverb and for a byword among all the peoples.
21 Ainsi cette maison sera en dérision à tous ceux qui passeront, et ils diront, frappés d’étonnement: Pourquoi le Seigneur a-t-il fait ainsi à cette terre et à cette maison?
And this house that has been high is an astonishment to everyone passing by it, and he has said, Why has YHWH done thus to this land and to this house?
22 Et l’on répondra: Parce qu’ils ont abandonné le Seigneur Dieu de leurs pères, qui les retira de la terre d’Égypte, et qu’ils ont pris des dieux étrangers, et qu’ils les ont adorés et servis: c’est pour cela que sont venus sur eux tous ces maux.
And they have said, Because that they have forsaken YHWH, God of their fathers, who brought them out from the land of Egypt, and lay hold on other gods, and bow themselves to them, and serve them, therefore He has brought all this calamity on them.”
