Lévitique 11
1 Et l'Éternel parla à Moïse et Aaron et leur dit:
And the Lord spoke to Moses and Aaron, saying,
2 Parlez aux enfants d'Israël en ces termes: Voici les animaux que vous pouvez manger parmi toutes les bêtes qui sont sur la terre.
Speak ye to the sons of Israel, saying, These are the beasts which ye shall eat of all beasts that are upon the earth.
3 Tout animal ayant le pied fourché et la corne fendue de part en part et qui rumine, vous servira d'aliment;
Every beast parting the hoof and making divisions of two claws, and chewing the cud among beasts, these ye shall eat.
4 parmi ceux qui ruminent et ont le pied fourché, voici seulement ceux dont vous vous abstiendrez, le chameau, car il rumine, mais n'a pas la corne fendue de part en part; vous le tiendrez pour impur;
But of these ye shall not eat, of those that chew the cud, and of those that part the hoofs, and divide claws; the camel, because it chews the cud, but does not divide the hoof, this is unclean to you.
5 et la gerboise, car elle rumine, mais n'a pas de corne fendue de part en part; vous la tiendrez pour impure;
And the rabbit, because it chews the cud, but does not divide the hoof, this is unclean to you.
6 et le lièvre, car il rumine, mais n'a pas de corne fendue de part en part; vous le tiendrez pour impur;
And the hare, because it does not chew the cud, and does not divide the hoof, this is unclean to you.
7 et le porc, car il a bien le pied fourché et une corne fendue de part en part, mais il ne rumine pas; vous le tiendrez pour impur.
And the swine, because this [animal] divides the hoof, and makes claws of the hoof, and it does not chew the cud, is unclean to you.
8 Vous ne mangerez pas de leur chair, ni ne toucherez leurs corps morts; vous les tiendrez pour impurs.
Ye shall not eat of their flesh, and ye shall not touch their carcases; these are unclean to you.
9 Parmi les animaux qui sont dans les eaux, ceux que vous pouvez manger sont tous ceux qui portent nageoires et écailles dans les eaux, les mers, les rivières, ils vous serviront d'aliments;
And these [are] what ye shall eat of all that are in the waters: all things that have fins and scales in the waters, and in the seas, and in the brooks, these ye shall eat.
10 mais tous ceux qui ne portent pas nageoires et écailles dans les mers et les rivières parmi tous ceux qui fourmillent dans les eaux et les êtres qui vivent dans les eaux, seront pour vous une souillure.
And all things which have not fins or scales in the water, or in the seas, and in the brooks, of all which the waters produce, and of every soul living in the water, are an abomination; and they shall be abominations to you.
11 Ils seront pour vous une souillure; vous ne mangerez point de leur chair, vous regarderez leur corps mort comme immonde.
Ye shall not eat of their flesh, and ye shall abhor their carcases.
12 Tout ce qui dans les eaux ne porte pas nageoires et écailles sera pour vous immonde.
And all things that have not fins or scales of those that are in the waters, these are an abomination to you.
13 Et parmi les oiseaux voici ceux que vous regarderez comme immondes, qui ne se mangeront pas, qui seront pour vous une souillure, l'aigle et l'orfraie et l'aigle de mer,
And these are the things which ye shall abhor of birds, and they shall not be eaten, they are an abomination: the eagle and the ossifrage, and the sea-eagle.
14 et le faucon et l'espèce de l'émerillon,
And the vulture, and the kite, and the like to it;
15 toutes les espèces de corbeaux,
and the sparrow, and the owl, and the sea-mew, and the like to it:
16 et l'autruche femelle et l'autruche mâle et la mouette, et l'espèce du vautour
and every raven, and the birds like it, and the hawk and his like,
17 et le hibou et le pélican sauteur et l'ibis,
and the night-raven and the cormorant and the stork,
18 et le cygne et le pélican et le percnoptère
and the red-bill, and the pelican, and swan,
19 et la cigogne et l'espèce du perroquet et la huppe et la chauve-souris.
and the heron, and the lapwing, and the like to it, and the hoopoe and the bat.
20 Vous regarderez comme immonde tout insecte ailé marchant sur quatre pieds.
And all winged creatures that creep, which go upon four feet, are abominations to you.
21 Les seuls insectes ailés marchant sur quatre pieds qui vous serviront d'aliments sont ceux qui ont les pieds surmontés de jambes pour sauter sur la terre.
But these ye shall eat of the creeping winged animals, which go upon four feet, which have legs above their feet, to leap with on the earth.
22 Ceux de cette famille que vous mangerez, sont l'espèce de l'arbeh, l'espèce du solam, et l'espèce du hargal, et l'espèce du hagab.
And these of them ye shall eat: the caterpillar and his like, and the attacus and his like, and the cantharus and his like, and the locust and his like.
23 Mais tous les autres insectes ailés à quatre pieds seront immondes pour vous; ils vous rendront impurs,
Every creeping thing from among the birds, which has four feet, is an abomination to you.
24 quiconque aura touché leurs corps morts, sera jusqu'au soir en état d'impureté,
And by these ye shall be defiled; every one that touches their carcases shall be unclean till the evening.
25 et quiconque aura porté de leurs corps morts, lavera ses habits et sera jusqu'au soir en état d'impureté.
And every one that takes of their dead bodies shall wash his garments, and shall be unclean till the evening.
26 Vous tiendrez pour immonde tout animal qui a le pied fourché, mais n'a pas une corne fendue de part en part et ne rumine pas; quiconque le touchera sera en état d'impureté.
And whichever among the beasts divides the hoof and makes claws, and does not chew the cud, shall be unclean to you; every one that touches their dead bodies shall be unclean till evening.
27 Et tout ce qui marche sur ses pattes et tous les animaux qui marchent sur quatre pieds, vous les tiendrez pour immondes,
And every one among all the wild beasts that moves upon its fore feet, which goes on all four, is unclean to you; every one that touches their dead bodies shall be unclean till evening.
28 et quiconque touchera leurs corps morts sera jusqu'au soir en état d'impureté. Et celui qui portera leurs corps morts, lavera ses habits et sera jusqu'au soir en état d'impureté; vous les regarderez comme immondes.
And he that takes of their dead bodies shall wash his garments, and shall be unclean till evening: these are unclean to you.
29 Et parmi les menus animaux qui frétillent sur la terre, vous tiendrez pour impurs les taupes, les souris et les lézards selon leur espèce,
And these [are] unclean to you of reptiles upon the earth, the weasel, and the mouse, and the lizard,
30 et l'Anaka et le Coch, et la Letaa et le colimaçon et le caméléon.
the ferret, and the chameleon, and the evet, and the newt, and the mole.
31 Tenez-les pour impurs parmi tous ceux qui frétillent; quiconque les touchera morts, sera jusqu'au soir en état d'impureté.
These are unclean to you of all the reptiles which are on the earth; every one who touches their carcases shall be unclean till evening.
32 Et tout objet sur lequel tombera un de ces animaux morts sera souillé, meuble quelconque de bois, ou vêtements, ou cuir, ou sac, tout ustensile servant à un usage quelconque; il sera mis dans l'eau et restera souillé jusqu'au soir, après quoi il se retrouvera pur.
And on whatsoever one of their dead bodies shall fall it shall be unclean; whatever wooden vessel, or garment, or skin, or sack it may be, every vessel in which work should be done, shall be dipped in water, and shall be unclean till evening; and [then] it shall be clean.
33 Et tout vase de terre dans lequel il en tombera sera souillé avec tout son contenu, et vous briserez le vase.
And every earthen vessel into which one of these things shall fall, whatsoever is inside it, shall be unclean, and it shall be broken.
34 Et tout comestible sur lequel il tombera de cette eau sera souillé, et toute liqueur à boire contenue dans ce vase sera souillée.
And all food that is eaten, on which water shall come [from such a vessel], shall be unclean; and every beverage which is drunk in any [such] vessel, shall be unclean.
35 Et tout objet sur lequel il tombera quelque chose de leurs corps morts, sera souillé, fourneau et foyer seront mis en pièces, comme souillés, et vous devez les regarder comme immondes.
And every thing on which there shall fall of their dead bodies shall be unclean; ovens and stands for jars shall be broken down: these are unclean, and they shall be unclean to you.
36 Les sources, les citernes et les réservoirs d'eau seuls n'en contracteront point de souillure. Mais quiconque touchera leur corps mort, tombera en état d'impureté.
Only [if the water be] of fountains of water, or a pool, or confluence of water, it shall be clean; but he that touches their carcases shall be unclean.
37 S'il tombe quelque chose de leur corps mort sur une semence quelconque qui doit être semée, elle ne cessera pas d'être pure;
And if one of their carcases should fall upon any sowing seed which shall be sown, it shall be clean.
38 mais si l'on a humecté cette semence et qu'il y tombe quelque chose de leurs corps morts, tenez-la pour souillée.
But if water be poured on any seed, and one of their dead bodies fall upon it, it is unclean to you.
39 Et si l'un des animaux qui vous servent d'aliment, périt, celui qui touchera son corps mort sera jusqu'au soir en état d'impureté.
And if one of the cattle die, which it is lawful for you to eat, he that touches their carcases shall be unclean till evening.
40 Et celui qui mangera de son corps mort lavera ses habits et sera jusqu'au soir en état d'impureté; et celui qui portera son corps mort lavera ses habits et sera jusqu'au soir en état d'impureté.
And he that eats of their carcases shall wash his garments, and be unclean till evening; and he that carries any of their carcases shall wash his garments, and bathe himself in water, and be unclean till evening.
41 Et tout reptile rampant sur la terre sera pour vous un animal immonde dont vous ne ferez pas un aliment.
And every reptile that creeps on the earth, this shall be an abomination to you; it shall not be eaten.
42 En fait de reptiles rampant sur la terre, tous ceux qui se traînent sur le ventre et tous ceux qui marchent sur quatre pieds ou plus, quel qu'en soit le nombre, ne vous serviront point d'aliment: ce sont des souillures.
And every [animal] that creeps on its belly, and every one that goes on four [feet] continually, which abounds with feet among all the reptiles creeping upon the earth—ye shall not eat it, for it is an abomination to you.
43 Ne souillez vos personnes par aucun reptile qui se traîne, et ne vous exposez pas à leur contact immonde pour tomber par là dans l'état d'impureté.
And ye shall not defile your souls with any of the reptiles that creep upon the earth, and ye shall not be polluted with them, and ye shall not be unclean by them.
44 Car je suis l'Éternel, votre Dieu, et vous devez vous sanctifier et être saints, car je suis Saint, et éviter de souiller vos personnes par aucun des reptiles qui se traînent sur la terre.
For I am the Lord your God; and ye shall be sanctified, and ye shall be holy, because I the Lord your God am holy; and ye shall not defile your souls with any of the reptiles creeping upon the earth.
45 Car je suis l'Éternel qui vous ai retirés du pays d'Egypte, pour être votre Dieu: Soyez donc saints, car je suis Saint.
For I am the Lord who brought you up out of the land of Egypt to be your God; and ye shall be holy, for I the Lord am holy.
46 Telle est la loi qui parmi les bestiaux et les oiseaux et tous les êtres vivants qui se meuvent dans les eaux, et tous les êtres vivants qui rampent sur la terre,
This is the law concerning beasts and birds and every living creature moving in the water, and every living creature creeping on the earth;
47 vous apprendra à discerner ce qui est pur ou impur, l'animal qui se mange et celui qui ne se mange pas.
to distinguish between the unclean and the clean; and between those that bring forth alive, such as should be eaten, and those that bring forth alive, such as should not be eaten.
