Jérémie 32

1 La parole qui fut adressée à Jérémie par l'Éternel, la dixième année de Sédécias, roi de Juda: c'était la dix-huitième année de Nébucadnézar.

The worde that came vnto Ieremiah from the Lord, in the tenth yere of Zedekiah king of Iudah, which was the eightenth yeere of Nebuchad-nezzar.

2 Or l'armée du roi de Babel assiégeait alors Jérusalem, et Jérémie, le prophète, était enfermé dans le vestibule de la prison qui était dans la maison du roi de Juda,

For then the King of Babels hoste besieged Ierusalem: And Ieremiah the Prophet was shutte vp in the court of the prison, which was in the King of Iudahs house.

3 où l'avait enfermé Sédécias, roi de Juda, en disant: Pourquoi prophétises-tu disant: « Ainsi parle l'Éternel: Voici, je vais livrer cette ville aux mains du roi de Babel, pour qu'il s'en empare,

For Zedekiah King of Iudah had shut him vp, saying, Wherefore doest thou prophesie, and say, Thus saith the Lord, Beholde, I will giue this citie into the handes of the King of Babel, and he shall take it?

4 et Sédécias, roi de Juda, n'échappera pas aux mains des Chaldéens, mais il sera livré aux mains du roi de Babel, et il lui parlera bouche à bouche, et ses yeux rencontreront ses yeux;

And Zedekiah the King of Iudah shall not escape out of the hande of the Caldeans, but shall surely be deliuered into the handes of the King of Babel, and shall speake with him mouth to mouth, and his eyes shall beholde his face,

5 et il conduira Sédécias à Babel, où il demeurera jusqu'à ce que je le visite, dit l'Éternel. Si vous vous battez contre les Chaldéens, vous n'aurez point de succès »?

And he shall lead Zedekiah to Babel, and there shall he be, vntil I visit him, saith ye Lord: though ye fight with the Caldeans, ye shall not prosper.

6 Alors Jérémie dit: La parole de l'Éternel m'a été adressée en ces mots:

And Ieremiah said, The word of the Lord came vnto me, saying,

7 Voici, Hanaméel, fils de Sallum ton oncle, s'approchera de toi pour te dire: Achète mon champ qui est à Anathoth, car tu as le droit de retrait pour le rachat.

Beholde, Hanameel, the sonne of Shallum thine vncle, shall come vnto thee and say, Bye vnto thee my fielde, that is in Anathoth: for the title by kindred appertaineth vnto thee to bye it.

8 Et Hanaméel, fils de mon oncle, s'approcha de moi selon la parole de l'Éternel, dans le vestibule de la prison, et me dit: Achète mon champ qui est à Anathoth, dans le pays de Benjamin, car tu as le droit de succession et de retrait; achète-le! Et je reconnus que c'était là la parole de l'Éternel.

So Hanameel, mine vncles sonne, came to mee in the court of the prison, according to the word of the Lord, and said vnto me, Bye my field, I pray thee, that is in Anathoth, which is in the countrey of Beniamin: for the right of the possession is thine, and the purchase belongeth vnto thee: bye it for thee. Then I knewe that this was the worde of the Lord.

9 Et j'achetai le champ de Hanaméel, fils de mon oncle, à Anathoth, et je lui pesai le prix, sept sicles [d'or], et dix sicles d'argent.

And I bought the field of Hanameel, mine vncles sonne, that was in Anathoth, and weighed him the siluer, euen seuen shekels, and tenne pieces of siluer.

10 Et je consignai cela dans une lettre que je scellai; et je pris des témoins, et je pesai l'argent à la balance.

And I writ it in the booke and signed it, and tooke witnesses, and weighed him the siluer in the balances.

11 Puis je pris la lettre d'achat, celle qui était scellée selon l'ordonnance et les statuts, et celle qui était ouverte;

So I tooke the booke of the possession, being sealed according to the Lawe, and custome, with the booke that was open,

12 et je remis la lettre d'achat à Baruch, fils de Nérija, fils de Mahaséïa, en présence de Hanaméel, mon parent, et en présence des témoins signataires de la lettre d'achat, et en présence de tous les Juifs assis dans le vestibule de la prison;

And I gaue the booke of the possession vnto Baruch the sonne of Neriah, the sonne of Maaseiah, in the sight of Hanameel mine vncles sonne, and in the presence of the witnesses, written in the booke of the possession, before al the Iewes that sate in the court of the prison.

13 et en leur présence je donnai cet ordre à Baruch:

And I charged Baruch before them, saying,

14 Ainsi parle l'Éternel des armées, Dieu d'Israël: Prends ces lettres, cette lettre d'achat scellée, et cette lettre ouverte, et mets-les dans un vase de terre, afin qu'elles se conservent longtemps.

Thus saith the Lord of hostes, the God of Israel, Take the writings, euen this booke of the possession, both that is sealed, and this booke that is open, and put them in an earthen vessell, that they may continue a long time.

15 Car ainsi parle l'Éternel des armées, Dieu d'Israël: Il sera encore acheté des maisons, et des champs, et des vignes dans ce pays-ci.

For the Lord of hostes, the God of Israel saith thus, Houses and fieldes, and vineyardes shall be possessed againe in this land.

16 Et je priai l'Éternel, après avoir remis la lettre d'achat à Baruch, fils de Nérija, disant:

Now when I had deliuered the booke of the possession vnto Baruch, the sonne of Neriah, I prayed vnto the Lord, saying,

17 Ah! Seigneur Éternel, voici, tu as formé les Cieux et la terre par ta grande force et ton bras étendu: rien n'est trop difficile pour toi.

Ah Lord God, beholde, thou hast made the heauen and the earth by thy great power, and by thy stretched out arme, and there is nothing hard vnto thee.

18 Tu fais grâce à mille [générations] et tu fais retomber la peine du péché des pères dans le sein de leurs enfants après eux. Dieu grand et puissant, dont le nom est l'Éternel des armées,

Thou shewest mercie vnto thousands, and recompensest the iniquitie of the fathers into the bosome of their children after them: O God the great and mightie, whose Name is ye Lord of hostes,

19 toi qui es grand en conseil et puissant en action, toi dont les yeux sont ouverts sur toutes les voies des enfants des hommes, pour rendre à chacun selon ses voies et selon le fruit de ses œuvres,

Great in counsell, and mightie in worke, (for thine eyes are open vpon all the wayes of ye sonnes of men, to giue to euery one according to his wayes, and according to the fruite of his workes)

20 toi qui fis des signes et des miracles au pays d'Egypte jusqu'à ce jour, et pour Israël, et pour d'autres hommes, et qui t'es fait un nom tel qu'[il est] aujourd'hui;

Which hast set signes and wonders in the land of Egypt vnto this day, and in Israel, and among all men, and hast made thee a Name, as appeareth this day,

21 et qui tiras du pays d'Egypte ton peuple d'Israël, avec des signes et des miracles, et d'une main forte et d'un bras étendu, et avec une grande terreur,

And hast brought thy people Israel out of the land of Egypt with signes, and with wonders, and with a strong hand, with a stretched out arme, and with great terrour,

22 et qui leur donnas ce pays que tu avais juré à leurs pères de leur donner, pays découlant de lait et de miel;

And hast giuen them this land, which thou diddest sweare to their fathers to giue them, euen a land, that floweth with milke and hony,

23 et ils sont venus et en ont pris possession; mais ils n'ont point obéi à ta voix, ni suivi ta loi, ne pratiquant point tout ce que tu leur avais commandé de faire; et tu as fait fondre sur eux toutes ces calamités!

And they came in, and possessed it, but they obeyed not thy voyce, neither walked in thy Law: all that thou commaundedst them to doe, they haue not done: therefore thou hast caused this whole plague to come vpon them.

24 Voici, les terrasses atteignent déjà cette ville, en sorte qu'elle sera prise, puis livrée aux mains des Chaldéens qui lui sont hostiles, par l'épée et la famine et la peste; et ce que tu as dit arrive, et voici, tu en es témoin.

Beholde, the mounts, they are come into the citie to take it, and the citie is giuen into the hande of the Caldeans, that fight against it by meanes of the sword, and of the famine, and of the pestilence, and what thou hast spoken, is come to passe, and beholde, thou seest it.

25 Et néanmoins tu m'as dit, Seigneur, Éternel: « Achète-toi un champ pour de l'argent, et prends des témoins; » et cette ville est livrée aux mains des Chaldéens!

And thou hast sayd vnto me, O Lord God, Bye vnto thee the fielde for siluer, and take witnesses: for the citie shall be giuen into the hand of the Caldeans.

26 Et la parole de l'Éternel fut adressée à Jérémie en ces mots:

Then came the worde of the Lord vnto Ieremiah, saying,

27 Voici, moi l'Éternel, je suis le Dieu de toute chair; y a-t-il rien de trop difficile pour moi?

Beholde, I am the LORD GOD of all flesh: is there any thing too hard for me?

28 Aussi, ainsi parle l'Éternel: Voici, je livre cette ville aux mains des Chaldéens, et aux mains de Nébucadnézar, roi de Babel, pour qu'il s'en empare.

Therefore thus saith the Lord, Beholde, I wil giue this citie into the hand of the Caldeans, and into the hand of Nebuchad-nezzar, King of Babel, and he shall take it.

29 Et les Chaldéens qui font la guerre à cette ville, vont arriver, et mettre le feu à cette ville, et la brûler, ainsi que les maisons sur les toits desquelles ils ont encensé Baal, et offert des libations à d'autres dieux, afin de me provoquer.

And the Caldeans shall come and fight against this citie, and set fire on this citie and burne it, with the houses, vpon whose rouses they haue offred incense vnto Baal, and powred drinke offrings vnto other gods, to prouoke me vnto anger.

30 Car les enfants d'Israël et les enfants de Juda n'ont fait que ce qui est mal à mes yeux dès leur jeunesse; car les enfants d'Israël n'ont fait que me provoquer par l'œuvre de leurs mains, dit l'Éternel,

For the children of Israel, and the children of Iudah haue surely done euill before me from their youth: for the children of Israel haue surely prouoked me to anger with the workes of their hands, saith the Lord.

31 car dans la colère et le courroux que cette ville me donne depuis le jour où elle fut bâtie, jusques aujourd'hui, j'ai résolu de l'ôter de ma vue,

Therefore this citie hath bene vnto me as a prouocation of mine anger, and of my wrath, from the day, that they built it, euen vnto this day, that I should remoue it out of my sight,

32 à cause de tout le mal qu'ont fait les enfants d'Israël et les enfants de Juda pour me provoquer, eux, leurs rois, leurs princes, leurs sacrificateurs et leurs prophètes, et les hommes de Juda et les habitants de Jérusalem.

Because of all the euill of the children of Israel, and of the children of Iudah, which they haue done to prouoke mee to anger, euen they, their Kings, their Princes, their Priests, and their Prophets, and the men of Iudah, and the inhabitants of Ierusalem.

33 Et ils m'ont présenté le dos et non point le visage; dès le matin je les ai instruits et instruits; mais ils ne furent point dociles à recevoir la remontrance;

And they haue turned vnto me the backe and not the face: though I taught them rising vp earely, and instructing them, yet they were not obedient to receiue doctrine,

34 et ils ont placé leurs abominations dans la maison appelée de mon nom pour la souiller,

But they set their abominations in ye house (whereupon my Name was called) to defile it,

35 et ils ont élevé des tertres à Baal dans la vallée des fils de Hinnom, pour offrir leurs fils et leurs filles à Moloch; ce que je n'avais point ordonné et qui ne m'était point venu dans la pensée, qu'on fît de telles horreurs pour porter Juda à pécher.

And they built the hie places of Baal, which are in the valley of Ben-hinnom, to cause their sonnes and their daughters to passe through the fire vnto Molech, which I commanded them not, neither came it into my minde, that they should doe such abomination, to cause Iudah to sinne.

36 Et maintenant, ainsi prononce cependant l'Éternel, Dieu d'Israël, sur cette ville dont vous dites: Elle sera livrée aux mains du roi de Babel par l'épée et la famine et la peste:

And nowe therefore, thus hath the Lord God of Israel spoken, concerning this citie, whereof ye say, It shalbe deliuered into the hand of the King of Babel by the sword, and by the famine, and by the pestilence,

37 Voici, je les recueillerai de tous les pays où je les aurai dispersés dans ma colère, et dans ma fureur, et dans mon grand courroux, et je les ferai revenir en ce lieu et habiter en sécurité,

Beholde, I will gather them out of all countreys, wherein I haue scattered them in mine anger, and in my wrath, and in great indignation, and I wil bring them againe vnto this place, and I will cause them to dwell safely.

38 et ils seront mon peuple, et je serai leur Dieu;

And they shall be my people, and I will be their God.

39 et je leur donnerai un seul cœur et une seule voie pour me craindre toujours, afin d'être heureux, eux et leurs enfants après eux.

And I wil giue them one heart and one way that they may feare me for euer for ye wealth of them, and of their children after them.

40 Et je leur donne cette alliance éternelle, que je ne cesserai de leur faire du bien, et je mettrai ma crainte dans leurs cœurs, afin qu'ils ne s'éloignent pas de moi.

And I wil make an euerlasting couenant with them, that I wil neuer turne away from them to doe them good, but I wil put my feare in their hearts, that they shall not depart from me.

41 Et ma joie à leur égard sera de leur faire du bien, et je les planterai dans ce pays, véritablement, de tout mon cœur et de toute mon âme.

Yea, I wil delite in them to do them good, and I wil plant them in this land assuredly with my whole heart, and with all my soule.

42 Car ainsi parle l'Éternel: De même que j'ai fait venir sur ce peuple tous ces grands maux, de même je ferai venir sur eux tous les biens que je leur ai promis;

For thus sayth the Lord, Like as I haue brought all this great plague vpon this people, so wil I bring vpon them all the good that I haue promised them.

43 et des champs seront achetés dans ce pays duquel vous dites: « C'est un désert sans hommes ni bestiaux, il est livré aux mains des Chaldéens; »

And the fields shalbe possessed in this land, whereof ye say, It is desolate without man or beast, and shalbe giuen into the hand of the Caldeans.

44 on achètera des champs pour de l'argent, les lettres en seront écrites et scellées, munies du témoignage des témoins, dans le pays de Benjamin, et dans les alentours de Jérusalem, et dans les villes de Juda, et dans les villes de la montagne, et dans les villes du bas-pays, et dans les villes du Midi; car je ramènerai leurs captifs, dit l'Éternel.

Men shall buy fields for siluer, and make writings and seale them, and take witnesses in the land of Beniamin, and round about Ierusalem, and in the cities of Iudah, and in the cities of the mountaines, and in the cities of the plaine, and in the cities of the South: for I wil cause their captiuitie to returne, saith the Lord.
