Exode 7
1 Et l'Éternel dit à Moïse: Vois, je te fais Dieu pour Pharaon, et Aaron, ton frère, sera ton prophète.
And Jehovah said to Moses, See, I have made thee God to Pharaoh; and Aaron thy brother shall be thy prophet.
2 Tu diras tout ce que je te prescris, et Aaron, ton frère, le redira à Pharaon, afin qu'il laisse sortir de son pays les enfants d'Israël.
Thou shalt speak all that I command thee; and Aaron thy brother shall speak unto Pharaoh, that he let the children of Israel go out of his land.
3 Et moi, j'endurcirai le cœur de Pharaon et je multiplierai mes signes et mes miracles dans le pays d'Egypte.
And I will render Pharaoh's heart obdurate, and multiply my signs and my wonders in the land of Egypt.
4 Et Pharaon ne vous écoutera pas; et je mettrai la main sur l'Egypte, et je ferai par de grands jugements sortir du pays d'Egypte ma milice, mon peuple, les enfants d'Israël.
And Pharaoh will not hearken unto you; and I will lay my hand upon Egypt, and bring forth my hosts, my people, the children of Israel, out of the land of Egypt by great judgments.
5 Et les Égyptiens sentiront que je suis l'Éternel, lorsque j'étendrai ma main sur l'Egypte et que je tirerai du milieu d'eux les enfants d'Israël.
And the Egyptians shall know that I am Jehovah, when I stretch forth my hand on Egypt, and bring out the children of Israel from among them.
6 Et Moïse et Aaron firent ainsi que l'Éternel le leur ordonnait; ainsi firent-ils.
And Moses and Aaron did as Jehovah had commanded them: so did they.
7 Or Moïse était âgé de quatre-vingts ans, et Aaron de quatre-vingt-trois ans, lorsqu'ils s'adressèrent à Pharaon.
And Moses was eighty years old, and Aaron was eighty-three years old, when they spoke to Pharaoh.
8 Et l'Éternel parla à Moïse et à Aaron en ces termes:
And Jehovah spoke to Moses and to Aaron, saying,
9 Si Pharaon vous parle et vous dit: Opérez un miracle, dis à Aaron: Prends ton bâton et le jette devant Pharaon; qu'il devienne serpent!
When Pharaoh shall speak to you, saying, Do a miracle for yourselves, — then thou shalt say unto Aaron, Take thy staff and cast [it] before Pharaoh — it will become a serpent.
10 Et Moïse et Aaron étant venus chez Pharaon firent ce que l'Éternel avait ordonné; et Aaron jeta son bâton devant Pharaon et devant ses serviteurs, et il devint serpent.
And Moses and Aaron went in to Pharaoh, and did so, as Jehovah had commanded; and Aaron cast down his staff before Pharaoh, and before his bondmen, and it became a serpent.
11 Et Pharaon de son côté manda les sages et les enchanteurs, et eux aussi, les hiérogrammates de l'Egypte, en firent autant par leurs charmes.
And Pharaoh also called the sages and the sorcerers; and they too, the scribes of Egypt, did so with their enchantments:
12 Et ils jetèrent chacun son bâton, et les bâtons devinrent des serpents; mais le bâton d'Aaron engloutit les leurs.
they cast down every man his staff, and they became serpents; but Aaron's staff swallowed up their staves.
13 Et le cœur de Pharaon s'endurcit, et il ne les écouta point, ainsi que l'avait annoncé l'Éternel.
And Pharaoh's heart was stubborn, and he hearkened not to them, as Jehovah had said.
14 Alors l'Éternel dit à Moïse: Le cœur de Pharaon s'obstine, il refuse de laisser partir le peuple.
And Jehovah said to Moses, Pharaoh's heart is hardened: he refuseth to let the people go.
15 Va trouver Pharaon le matin; voici, il ira à la rivière, et présente-toi à sa rencontre sur le bord du Nil; et prends en ta main le bâton qui a été changé en serpent,
Go unto Pharaoh in the morning — behold, he will go out unto the water — and take thy stand by the bank of the river in front of him; and take in thy hand the staff that was turned into a serpent.
16 et dis-lui: L'Éternel, Dieu des Hébreux, m'a envoyé auprès de toi pour te dire: Laisse partir mon peuple pour me servir dans le désert; mais voici, jusqu'à présent tu n'as point écouté.
And say unto him, Jehovah the God of the Hebrews has sent me to thee, saying, Let my people go, that they may serve me in the wilderness; but behold, hitherto thou hast not hearkened.
17 Ainsi parle l'Éternel: A ceci tu connaîtras que je suis ]'Éternel: voici, du bâton qui est dans ma main, je vais frapper les eaux du Nil et elles seront changées en sang;
Thus saith Jehovah: In this shalt thou know that I am Jehovah — behold, I will smite with the staff that is in my hand upon the water which is in the river, and it shall be turned into blood.
18 et les poissons qui sont dans le Nil périront; et le Nil sera fétide, et les Égyptiens auront peine à boire l'eau du Nil.
And the fish that is in the river shall die; and the river shall stink; and the Egyptians shall loathe to drink the water out of the river.
19 Et l'Éternel dit à Moïse: Dis à Aaron: Prends ton bâton et étends ta main sur les eaux de l'Egypte, sur ses courants, sur ses canaux et sur ses lacs et sur tous ses amas d'eaux; et qu'elles deviennent du sang; et il y aura du sang dans tout le pays d'Egypte, dans le bois et dans la pierre.
And Jehovah said to Moses, Say unto Aaron, Take thy staff, and stretch out thy hand upon the waters of the Egyptians — upon their streams, upon their rivers, and upon their ponds, and upon all their reservoirs of water, that they may become blood; and there shall be blood throughout the land of Egypt, both in [vessels of] wood and in [vessels of] stone.
20 Et Moïse et Aaron exécutèrent ce que leur commandait l'Éternel; et il leva son bâton et frappa les eaux du Nil sous les yeux de Pharaon et sous les yeux de ses serviteurs, et toute l'eau du fleuve fut changée en sang.
And Moses and Aaron did so, as Jehovah had commanded; and he lifted up the staff, and smote the waters that were in the river before the eyes of Pharaoh, and before the eyes of his bondmen; and all the waters that were in the river were turned into blood.
21 Et les poissons du Nil périrent, et le Nil devint fétide, et les Égyptiens ne pouvaient plus boire l'eau du Nil, et il y eut du sang dans tout le pays d'Egypte.
And the fish that was in the river died; and the river stank, and the Egyptians could not drink the water of the river; and the blood was throughout the land of Egypt.
22 Mais les hiérogrammates d'Egypte en firent autant par leurs charmes; et le cœur de Pharaon s'endurcit, et il ne les écouta point, ainsi que l'Éternel l'avait annoncé.
And the scribes of Egypt did so with their sorceries; and Pharaoh's heart was stubborn, neither did he hearken to them, as Jehovah had said.
23 Et Pharaon se tourna et rentra dans sa demeure et cela même ne le fit point réfléchir.
And Pharaoh turned and went into his house, and took not this to heart either.
24 Et tous les Égyptiens creusaient aux alentours du fleuve pour trouver de l'eau à boire; car ils ne pouvaient boire, l'eau du Nil.
And all the Egyptians dug round about the river for water to drink; for they could not drink of the water of the river.
25 Et sept jours s'écoulèrent après que l'Éternel eut frappé le fleuve.
And seven days were fulfilled, after Jehovah had smitten the river.
