1 Samuel 30
1 Et il se trouva que, lors du retour de David et de son monde à Tsiklag le troisième jour, les Amalécites avaient fait une expédition sur le Midi et sur Tsiklag qu'ils avaient saccagée et incendiée,
And it comes to pass, in the coming in of David and his men to Ziklag on the third day, that the Amalekites have pushed toward the south, and to Ziklag, and strike Ziklag, and burn it with fire,
2 ayant emmené captives les femmes avec ceux qui y restaient, petits et grands: ils n'avaient tué personne; seulement ils avaient emmené leur prise, puis continué leur route.
and they take the women who [are] in it captive; they have not put anyone to death from small to great, and they lead [them] away, and go on their way.
3 Et au retour de David et de ses hommes à la ville, voilà qu'elle était incendiée et leurs femmes et leurs fils et leurs filles emmenées en captivité.
And David comes in—and his men—to the city, and behold, [it is] burned with fire, and their wives, and their sons, and their daughters have been taken captive.
4 Alors David et la troupe qui l'accompagnait laissèrent éclater leur voix et pleurèrent jusqu'à n'avoir plus la force de pleurer.
And David lifts up—and the people who [are] with him—their voice and weep, until they have no power to weep.
5 Et les deux femmes de David étaient prisonnières, Ahinoam de Jizréel, et Abigaïl, femme de Nabal, le carmélite.
And the two wives of David have been taken captive, Ahinoam the Jezreelitess, and Abigail wife of Nabal the Carmelite;
6 Et David était dans une détresse car la troupe parlait de le lapider parce que l'amertume était dans le cœur de tous, chacun regrettant ses fils et ses filles. Mais David prit sa force dans l'Éternel son Dieu.
and David has great distress, for the people have said to stone him, for the soul of all the people has been bitter, each for his sons and for his daughters; and David strengthens himself in his God YHWH.
7 Et David dit à Abiathar, le Prêtre, fils d'Ahimélech: Apporte-moi donc l'éphod! Et Abiathar apporta l'éphod à David.
And David says to Abiathar the priest, son of Ahimelech, “Please bring the ephod near to me”; and Abiathar brings the ephod near to David,
8 Et David interrogea l'Éternel en ces termes: Me mettrai-je à la poursuite de cette horde-là? l'atteindrai-je? Et Il répondit: Poursuis, car tu atteindras et délivreras.
and David inquires of YHWH, saying, “I pursue after this troop—do I overtake it?” And He says to him, “Pursue, for you certainly overtake, and certainly deliver.”
9 Alors David marcha avec les six cents hommes qui l'accompagnaient, et ils s'avancèrent jusqu'au torrent du Bésor, et les traîneurs firent halte.
And David goes on, he and six hundred men who [are] with him, and they come to the Brook of Besor, and those left have stood still,
10 Et David entreprit la poursuite avec quatre cents hommes, deux cents hommes ayant fait halte parce qu'ils étaient trop fatigués pour passer le torrent du Bésor.
and David pursues, he and four hundred men (and two hundred men stand still who have been too faint to pass over the Brook of Besor),
11 Et ils trouvèrent un Egyptien dans la campagne et ils l'amenèrent à David, et ils lui servirent des aliments et il mangea, et ils lui donnèrent de l'eau à boire;
and they find a man, an Egyptian, in the field, and take him to David, and give bread to him, and he eats, and they cause him to drink water,
12 ils lui donnèrent aussi un quartier de bol de figues et deux gâteaux de raisins secs, et il mangea, et fut ranimé, car il n'avait ni mangé, ni bu, ni pain, ni eau, trois jours et trois nuits.
and give to him a piece of a bunch of dried figs, and two bunches of raisins, and he eats, and his spirit returns to him, for he has not eaten bread nor drunk water [for] three days and three nights.
13 Et David lui dit: A qui es-tu? et d'où es-tu? Et il répondit: Je suis un jeune Egyptien, au service d'un Amalécite, et mon maître m'a laissé parce que je suis malade voici trois jours.
And David says to him, “Whose [are] you? And where [are] you from?” And he says, “I [am] an Egyptian youth, servant to a man, an Amalekite, and my lord forsakes me, for I have been sick [for] three days,
14 Nous avons fait une incursion dans le Midi des Chrétites et dans les dépendances de Juda et dans le Midi de Caleb et nous avons livré Tsiklag aux flammes.
we pushed [to] the south of the Cherethite, and against that which [is] to Judah, and against the south of Caleb, and we burned Ziklag with fire.”
15 Et David lui dit: Veux-tu être mon guide jusqu'à cette horde-là? Et il dit: Jure-moi devant Dieu que tu ne me feras pas mourir et ne me livreras pas à mon maître, et je te conduirai à cette horde.
And David says to him, “Do you bring me down to this troop?” And he says, “Swear to me by God [that] you do not put me to death, nor do you shut me up into the hand of my lord, and I bring you down to this troop.”
16 Et il fut leur guide. Et voilà que les Amalécites étaient épars dans toute la campagne mangeant et buvant et faisant fête pour tout le grand butin qu'ils avaient enlevé du pays des Philistins et du pays de Juda.
And he brings him down, and behold, they are spread out over the face of all the earth, eating, and drinking, and celebrating, with all the great spoil which they have taken out of the land of the Philistines, and out of the land of Judah.
17 Et depuis l'aube jusqu'au soir qui ouvrait le lendemain il en fit un tel carnage que pas un homme n'échappa sauf quatre cents jeunes gens qui montèrent sur des chameaux et s'enfuirent.
And David strikes them from the twilight even to the evening of the next day, and there has not escaped of them a man, except four hundred young men who have ridden on the camels and flee.
18 Et ainsi, David recouvra tout ce qu'avaient enlevé les Amalécites, et délivra aussi ses deux femmes.
And David delivers all that the Amalekites have taken; David has also delivered his two wives.
19 Et ils n'eurent à regretter personne, ni petit ni grand, ni fils ni fille, ni aucun objet du butin qui leur avait été pris; David fit tout rentrer.
And nothing of theirs has lacked, from small to great, and to sons and daughters, and from the spoil, even to all that they had taken to themselves, David has brought back the whole,
20 Et David prit tout le menu et le gros bétail; et ceux qui étaient en tête du troupeau disaient en le conduisant: C'est la capture de David.
and David takes the whole of the flock and of the herd [that] they have led on before these livestock, and they say, “This [is] David’s spoil.”
21 Et David ayant rejoint les deux cents hommes trop fatigués pour suivre David, qu'il avait laissés faire halte au torrent du Bésor, ils vinrent au devant de David et de la troupe qui l'accompagnait, et David les aborda en s'informant d'eux amicalement.
And David comes to the two hundred men who were too faint to go after David, and whom they cause to abide at the Brook of Besor, and they go out to meet David, and to meet the people who [are] with him, and David approaches the people, and asks of them of welfare.
22 Et tous les hommes mauvais et de bas aloi, parmi les compagnons de David, prirent la parole et dirent: Puisqu'ils n'ont pas marché avec nous, nous ne voulons leur donner aucune part au butin que nous avons reconquis, sinon à chacun sa femme et qu'il les emmène et parte.
And every bad and worthless man, of the men who have gone with David, answers, indeed, they say, “Because that they have not gone with us we do not give to them of the spoil which we have delivered, except each his wife and his children, and they lead away and go.”
23 Mais David dit: N'en usez pas ainsi, mes frères, avec ce que l'Éternel nous a donné, d'autant qu'Il nous a eus en sa garde et a livré entre nos mains la horde de nos envahisseurs.
And David says, “You do not do so, my brothers, with that which YHWH has given to us, and He preserves us, and gives the troop which comes against us into our hand;
24 Et qui vous écoutera dans ce que vous prononcez là… car telle la part de ceux qui sont descendus sur le champ de bataille, telle doit être la part de ceux qui sont restés auprès des bagages: ensemble ils partageront.
and who listens to you in this thing? For as the portion of him who was brought down into battle, so also [is] the portion of him who is abiding by the vessels—they share alike.”
25 Et c'est ce qui à partir de ce jour eut lieu postérieurement et dont on fit une règle et une pratique pour Israël jusqu'aujourd'hui.
And it comes to pass from that day and forward, that he appoints it for a statute and for an ordinance for Israel to this day.
26 Et revenu à Tsiklag, David envoya du butin aux Anciens de Juda, à ses amis, avec ces paroles: Voici pour vous un don sur le butin des ennemis de l'Éternel!
And David comes to Ziklag, and sends of the spoil to [the] elderly of Judah, to his friends, saying, “Behold, a blessing for you of the spoil of the enemies of YHWH,”
27 [il l'envoya] à ceux de Béthel et à ceux de Ramoth-Negeb, et à ceux de Jathir,
to those in Beth-El, and to those in South Ramoth, and to those in Jattir,
28 et à ceux d'Aroër, et à ceux de Siphmoth, et à ceux d'Esthmoha,
and to those in Aroer, and to those in Siphmoth, and to those in Eshtemoa,
29 et à ceux de Rachal, et à ceux des villes de Jehraméel, et à ceux des villes des Kénites,
and to those in Rachal, and to those in the cities of the Jerahmeelites, and to those in the cities of the Kenites,
30 et à ceux de Horma, et à ceux de Chor-Asan, et à ceux d'Athach,
and to those in Hormah, and to those in Chor-Ashan, and to those in Athach,
31 et à ceux de Hébron et dans tous les lieux où David avait erré lui et ses hommes.
and to those in Hebron, and to all the places where David—he and his men—had gone up and down.
