1 Chroniques 13

1 Et David se consulta avec les chefs de mille et de cent, avec la totalité des princes.

And David consults with the heads of the thousands and of the hundreds, [and] with every leader,

2 Et David dit à toute l'Assemblée d'Israël: Si vous le trouvez bon, et si c'est de par l'Éternel notre Dieu, promptement dépêchons vers nos frères restés dans tous les cantons d'Israël, et en même temps que vers eux, vers les Prêtres et les Lévites, dans leurs villes à banlieues pour qu'ils se joignent à nous.

and David says to all the assembly of Israel, “If it is good to you, and it has broken forth from our God YHWH—we send to our brothers, those left in all the lands of Israel, and the priests and the Levites with them in the cities of their outskirts, and they are gathered to us,

3 Et transférons l'Arche de notre Dieu près de nous, car nous n'en prenions point de souci au temps de Saül.

and we bring around the Ark of our God to us, for we did not seek Him in the days of Saul.”

4 Et toute l'Assemblée dit que c'était ce qu'il fallait faire, car la chose agréait à tout le peuple.

And all the assembly says to do so, for the thing is right in the eyes of all the people.

5 David convoqua donc tout Israël depuis le Nil d'Egypte jusque vers Hamath, afin d'amener de Kiriath-Jearim l'Arche de Dieu.

And David assembles all Israel from Shihor of Egypt even to the entering in of Hamath, to bring in the Ark of God from Kirjath-Jearim,

6 Et David avec tout Israël monta vers Baala, à Kiriath-Jearim qui est à Juda, pour en ramener l'Arche de Dieu, l'Éternel qui siège sur les Chérubins, où le Nom est invoqué.

and David goes up, and all Israel, to Ba‘alah, to Kirjath-Jearim that [belongs] to Judah, to bring up from there the Ark of God, YHWH, inhabiting the cherubim, where the Name is called on.

7 Et ils transportèrent l'Arche de Dieu sur un chariot neuf depuis la maison d'Abinadab; or Uzza et Ahio conduisaient le chariot.

And they place the Ark of God on a new cart from the house of Abinadab, and Uzza and Ahio are leading the cart,

8 Et David et tous les Israélites dansaient devant Dieu à toute force avec chants, et luths et harpes et tambourins et cymbales et trompettes.

and David and all Israel are playing before God, with all strength, and with songs, and with harps, and with psalteries, and with timbrels, and with cymbals, and with trumpets.

9 Et quand ils arrivèrent à l'aire de Chidon, Uzza étendit sa main pour saisir l'Arche parce que l'attelage récalcitrait.

And they come to the threshing-floor of Chidon, and Uzza puts forth his hand to seize the Ark, for the oxen were released,

10 Alors la colère de l'Éternel s'alluma contre Uzza et Il le frappa pour avoir porté la main sur l'Arche, et il mourut là devant Dieu.

and the anger of YHWH is kindled against Uzza, and He strikes him, because that he has put forth his hand on the Ark, and he dies there before God.

11 Et David fut attristé de ce que l'Éternel avait frappé Uzza d'un tel coup et il donna à ce lieu le nom de Pérets-Uzza (coup d'Uzza) qu'il porte encore aujourd'hui.

And it is displeasing to David, because YHWH has made a breach on Uzza, and one calls that place “Breach of Uzza” to this day.

12 Et David eut en ce jour peur de Dieu: il disait: Comment introduire chez moi l'Arche de Dieu?

And David fears God on that day, saying, “How do I bring the Ark of God to me?”

13 Et David ne fit pas prendre à l'Arche son chemin vers lui dans la Cité de David, mais il la dirigea de côté vers la maison d'Obed-Edom, de Gath.

And David has not turned aside the Ark to himself, to the City of David, and turns it aside to the house of Obed-Edom the Gittite.

14 Et l'Arche de Dieu séjourna ainsi dans la maison d'Obed-Edom, dans sa maison, durant trois mois. Et l'Éternel bénit la maison d'Obed-Edom et tout ce qui était à lui.

And the Ark of God dwells with the household of Obed-Edom, in his house, three months, and YHWH blesses the house of Obed-Edom, and all that he has.
