Daniel 9
1 En la première année du règne de Darius, fils d'Assuérus, de la race des Mèdes, qui régna sur l'empire des Chaldéens,
In the first year of Darius the son of Assuerus of the seed of the Medes, who reigned over the kingdom of the Chaldeans:
2 Moi, Daniel, je compris, au moyen des livres, le nombre des années que la parole du Seigneur avait fait connaître à Jérémie le prophète, sur le temps que devait durer la désolation de Jérusalem, et qui devait être de soixante-dix années.
The first year of his reign, I Daniel understood by books the number of the years, concerning which the word of the Lord came to Jeremias the prophet, that seventy years should be accomplished of the desolation of Jerusalem.
3 Et je tournai mon visage vers le Seigneur mon Dieu, pour l'implorer et le prier, en jeûnant, et revêtu d'un cilice.
And I set my face to the Lord my God, to pray and make supplication with fasting, and sackcloth, and ashes.
4 Et je fis ma prière au Seigneur mon Dieu, et je lui rendis gloire, et je dis: Seigneur, Dieu grand et admirable, qui gardez votre alliance, et réservez votre miséricorde en faveur de ceux qui vous aiment et observent vos commandements;
And I prayed to the Lord my God, and I made my confession, and said: I beseech thee, O Lord God, great and terrible, who keepest the covenant, and mercy to them that love thee, and keep thy commandments.
5 Nous avons péché; nous avons commis l'injustice et l'iniquité; nous nous sommes retirés de vous; nous avons dévié de vos ordonnances et de vos jugements,
We have sinned, we have committed iniquity, we have done wickedly, and have revolted: and we have gone aside from thy commandments, and thy judgments.
6 Et nous n'avons point écouté vos serviteurs les prophètes, qui, en votre nom, parlaient à nos rois, à nos princes, à nos pères et à tout le peuple de la terre.
We have not hearkened to thy servants the prophets, that have spoken in thy name to our kings, to our princes, to our fathers, and to all the people of the land.
7 À vous, Seigneur, est la justice; à nous la honte au visage, comme aujourd'hui à tout homme de Juda, à tout habitant de Jérusalem, à tout Israël, soit près d'ici, soit au loin, en toute région où vous les avez dispersés à cause des prévarications qu'ils ont commises.
To thee, O Lord, justice: but to us confusion of face, as at this day to the men of Juda, and to the inhabitants of Jerusalem, and to all Israel to them that are near, and to them that are far off in all the countries whither thou hast driven them, for their iniquities by which they have sinned against thee.
8 En vous, Seigneur, est notre justice; à nous la honte au visage, à nous, à nos rois, à nos princes et à nos pères; car nous avons tous péchés contre vous.
O Lord, to us belongeth confusion of face, to our princes, and to our fathers that have sinned.
9 À vous, Seigneur notre Dieu, les miséricordes et le pardon; car nous nous sommes retirés de vous,
But to thee, the Lord our God, mercy and forgiveness, for we have departed from thee:
10 Et nous n'avons point écouté la voix du Seigneur notre Dieu, pour marcher dans les lois qu'il nous a données, face à face, par les mains de ses serviteurs les prophètes.
And we have not hearkened to the voice of the Lord our God, to walk in his law, which he set before us by his servants the prophets.
11 Tout Israël a transgressé votre loi; il s'est détourné tout entier, pour ne pas entendre votre parole. Et votre malédiction est tombée sur nous, ainsi que l'imprécation écrite dans la loi de Moise, serviteur de Dieu, parce que nous avons péché contre vous.
And all Israel have transgressed thy law, and have turned away from hearing thy voice, and the malediction, and the curse, which is written in the book of Moses the servant of God, is fallen upon us, because we have sinned against him.
12 Et Dieu a confirmé ses paroles prononcées contre nous et contre les juges qui nous jugeaient, et qui ont amené sur nous de si grands maux, que jamais rien sous le ciel n'advint comme ce qui est advenu à Jérusalem;
And he hath confirmed his words which he spoke against us, and against our princes that judged us, that he would bring in upon us a great evil, such as never was under all the heaven, according to that which hath been done in Jerusalem.
13 Comme il est écrit en la loi de Moïse: Tous ces maux sont arrivés sur nous, et nous n'avons point prié devant la face du Seigneur notre Dieu, pour qu'il nous retirât de nos iniquités, et nous fit comprendre toute sa vérité.
As it is written in the law of Moses, all this evil is come upon us: and we entreated not thy face, O Lord our God, that we might turn from our iniquities, and think on thy truth.
14 Mais le Seigneur a veillé sur nous, et il a amené sur nous ces maux, parce que le Seigneur notre Dieu est juste en toutes ses œuvres, et que nous n'avions point écouté sa voix.
And the Lord hath watched upon the evil, and hath brought it upon us: the Lord our God is just in all his works which he hath done: for we have not hearkened to his voice.
15 Et maintenant, Seigneur notre Dieu, qui par votre main puissante avez délivré votre peuple de la terre d'Égypte, et qui vous êtes fait alors un nom comme aujourd'hui, nous avons péché, nous avons commis l'iniquité!
And now, O Lord our God, who hast brought forth thy people out of the land of Egypt with a strong hand, and hast made thee a name as at this day: we have sinned, we have committed iniquity,
16 Seigneur, votre miséricorde est pour tous; que votre indignation et votre colère se détourne de votre ville de Jérusalem et de votre montagne sainte; car nous avons péché, et à cause de nos iniquités et de celles de nos pères, Jérusalem et votre peuple sont devenus un sujet d'opprobre pour tous ceux qui nous entourent.
O Lord, against all thy justice: let thy wrath and thy indignation be turned away, I beseech thee, from thy city Jerusalem, and from thy holy mountain. For by reason of our sins, and the iniquities of our fathers, Jerusalem, and thy people are a reproach to all that are round about us.
17 Et maintenant, Seigneur notre Dieu, écoutez la prière de votre serviteur et ses supplications; faites briller votre face dans votre sanctuaire délaissé; faites-le pour vous, Seigneur!
Now therefore, O our God, hear the supplication of thy servant, and his prayers: and shew thy face upon thy sanctuary which is desolate, for thy own sake.
18 Inclinez votre oreille, Seigneur mon Dieu, et exaucez-nous; ouvrez les yeux, et voyez notre anéantissement et celui de la cité à laquelle était donné votre nom; car ce n'est point dans l'attente de vos jugements que nous jetons devant vous notre cri de pitié, mais en vue de vos abondantes miséricordes, O Seigneur.
Incline, O my God, thy ear, and hear: open thy eyes, and see our desolation, and the city upon which thy name is called: for it is not for our justifications that we present our prayers before thy face, but for the multitude of thy tender mercies.
19 Exaucez-moi, Seigneur; apaisez-vous, Seigneur; aimez-moi, Seigneur: ne différez pas, ô mon Dieu, pour l'amour de vous-même; car cette cité et ce peuple sont ceux à qui a été donné votre nom.
O Lord, hear: O Lord, be appeased: hearken and do: delay not for thy own sake, O my God: because thy name is invocated upon thy city, and upon thy people.
20 Et comme je parlais encore, comme je priais, et que je confessais mes péchés et les péchés d'Israël, mon peuple; comme je jetais en face du Seigneur mon Dieu mon cri de pitié pour la montagne sainte;
Now while I was yet speaking, and praying, and confessing my sins, and the sins of my people of Israel, and presenting my supplications in the sight of my God, for the holy mountain of my God:
21 Tandis que je parlais encore, voilà que l'homme Gabriel, qui m'était apparu au commencement de ma vision, vint en volant, et me toucha vers l'heure du sacrifice du soir.
As I was yet speaking in prayer, behold the man Gabriel, whom I had seen in the vision at the beginning, flying swiftly touched me at the time of the evening sacrifice.
22 Et il m'ouvrit l'intelligence, et il me parla et me dit: Daniel, je suis venu pour t'apporter l'intelligence.
And he instructed me, and spoke to me, and said: O Daniel, I am now come forth to teach thee, and that thou mightest understand.
23 Au commencement de ta prière, un ordre m'est venu, et je suis venu pour t'instruire; car tu es l'homme des désirs, dit-il. Réfléchis donc à ma parole et comprends ta vision.
From the beginning of thy prayers the word came forth: and I am come to shew it to thee, because thou art a man of desires: therefore do thou mark the word, and understand the vision.
24 Soixante-dix semaines ont été assignées à ton peuple et à la cité sainte, pour que le péché soit à sa fin, que les péchés soient abolis, que les iniquités soient effacées et expiées, que l'éternelle justice soit ramenée, que le sceau soit mis à la vision et au prophète, et que le Saint des saints soit marqué de l'onction.
Seventy weeks are shortened upon thy people, and upon thy holy city, that transgression may be finished, and sin may have an end, and iniquity may be abolished; and everlasting justice may be brought; and vision and prophecy may be fulfilled; and the saint of saints may be anointed.
25 Sache donc et comprends qu'à partir de l'ordre qui sera donné de parler et de rebâtir Jérusalem, jusqu'au roi Christ, il y aura sept semaines et soixante-deux semaines; et l'ancien temps reviendra, les places et les remparts seront relevés, et les temps accomplis.
Know thou therefore, and take notice: that from the going forth of the word, to build up Jerusalem again, unto Christ the prince, there shall be seven weeks, and sixty-two weeks: and the street shall be built again, and the walls in straitness of times.
26 Et après les soixante-deux semaines le Christ sera mis à mort, et il n'y aura pas en lui de sujet de condamnation; et il détruira la ville et le sanctuaire, à l'aide d'un chef qui surviendra; et ils disparaîtront dans un cataclysme, et à la fin de la guerre, qui sera abrégée, il livrera la ville aux désolations.
And after sixty-two weeks Christ shall be slain: and the people that shall deny him shall not be his. And a people with their leader that shall come, shall destroy the city and the sanctuary: and the end thereof shall be waste, and after the end of the war the appointed desolation.
27 Et durant une semaine il confirmera l'alliance avec plusieurs. Et au milieu de la semaine la victime et les libations me seront ôtées, et l'abomination de la désolation sera sur le temple, et la désolation aura sa fin à la consommation des temps.
And he shall confirm the covenant with many, in one week: and in the half of the week the victim and the sacrifice shall fall: and there shall be in the temple the abomination of desolation: and the desolation shall continue even to the consummation, and to the end.
