Psaumes 84
1 Au chef des chantres. Sur la Ghitit. Par les fils de Koré. Psaume. Que tes demeures sont aimables, Eternel-Cebaot!
“To the chief musician upon Gittith, by the sons of Korach, a psalm.” How lovely are thy dwelling-places, O Lord of hosts!
2 Mon âme soupirait et languissait après les parvis du Seigneur: que mon cœur, tout mon être célèbrent le Dieu vivant!
My soul desired, yea, it also longed for the courts of the Lord: my heart and my flesh shout with joy unto the living God.
3 Même le passereau trouve un abri, l’hirondelle a son nid où elle dépose ses petits. Moi, je rêvais de tes autels, Eternel-Cebaot, mon roi et mon Dieu.
Even as the sparrow hath found a house, and the swallow a nest for herself, where she may lay her young: —[have I found] thy altars, O Lord of hosts, my King, and my God.
4 Heureux ceux qui habitent dans ta maison, et sans cesse récitent tes louanges! (Sélah)
Happy are they who dwell in thy house: they will be continually praising thee. (Selah)
5 Heureux l’homme qui met sa force en toi, dont le cœur connaît les vraies routes!
Happy is the man whose strong confidence is in thee, [all] whose heart reflecteth on the paths [of righteousness].
6 En traversant la vallée des larmes, ils en font un pays de sources, qu’en outre une pluie précoce couvre de bénédictions.
Passing through the valley of weeping, they will change it into a spring: also the early rain covereth it with blessings.
7 Ils s’avancent avec une force toujours croissante, pour paraître devant Dieu à Sion.
They go from strength to strength, each of them appeareth before God in Zion.
8 Eternel, Dieu-Cebaot, écoute donc ma prière, prête l’oreille, Dieu de Jacob. (Sélah)
O Lord God of hosts, hear my prayer: give ear, O God of Jacob. (Selah)
9 Regarde, ô Dieu, celui qui est notre bouclier, fixe les yeux sur la face de ton oint.
[Thou, ] our shield, behold, O God, and look upon the face of thy anointed.
10 Assurément, un jour dans tes parvis vaut mieux que mille autres; je préfère me tenir au seuil de la maison de mon Dieu, plutôt que de séjourner dans les tentes de l’impiété.
For better is a day in thy courts than a thousand [elsewhere]: I would rather choose to wait at the threshold of the house of my God, than to dwell in the tents of wickedness.
11 Car le Seigneur Dieu est un soleil, un bouclier: l’Eternel octroie grâce et honneurs; il ne refuse pas le bonheur à ceux qui marchent dans la droiture.
For a sun and shield is the Lord God; grace and glory will the Lord give; he will not withhold any good from those that walk with integrity.
12 Eternel-Cebaot, heureux l’homme qui a confiance en toi!
O Lord of hosts, happy is the man that trusteth in thee.
