Lévitique 4
1 L’Éternel parla à Moïse en ces termes:
Adonai spoke to Moses [Drawn out], saying,
2 "Parle ainsi aux enfants d’Israël: lorsqu’un individu, violant par mégarde une des défenses de l’Éternel, aura agi contrairement à l’une d’elles;
“Speak to the children of Israel [God prevails], saying, ‘If anyone does sin ·err (the standard goal)· that is an unintentional mistake sin ·error· against any of the mitzvot ·instructions· that Adonai has ordered not to be done, if he does any one of them,
3 si c’est le pontife-oint qui a péché, au détriment du peuple, il offrira au Seigneur, pour le péché qu’il a commis, un jeune taureau sans défaut, comme expiatoire.
then if the anointed priest sins ·errs (the standard goal)· so as to bring trespass guilt on the people, then let him offer for his habitual sin ·missing the mark·, which he has sinned ·deviated (from the standard goal)·, a young bull without defect to Adonai for a habitual sin ·miss the mark· offering.
4 présentera ce taureau à l’entrée de la Tente d’assignation, devant le Seigneur, appuiera sa main sur la tête du taureau, et l’immolera devant le Seigneur.
He shall bring the bull to the door of the Tent of Meeting before Adonai; and he shall lay his hand on the head of the bull, and kill the bull before Adonai.
5 Puis le pontife-oint prendra du sang de ce taureau et l’apportera dans la Tente d’assignation;
The anointed priest shall take some of the blood of the bull, and bring it to the Tent of Meeting.
6 le pontife trempera son doigt dans le sang, et il en fera aspersion sept fois devant l’Éternel, vers le voile du sanctuaire;
The priest shall dip his finger in the blood, and sprinkle some of the blood seven times before Adonai, before the veil of the sanctuary.
7 le pontife mettra aussi de ce sang sur les cornes de l’autel où l’on brûle les parfums devant le Seigneur, et qui est dans la Tente d’assignation; et le reste du sang du taureau, il le jettera dans le réceptacle de l’autel aux holocaustes, situé à l’entrée de la Tente d’assignation.
The priest shall put some of the blood on the horns of the altar of sweet incense before Adonai, which is in the Tent of Meeting; and he shall pour out all of rest of the blood of the bull at the base of the altar of burnt offering, which is at the door of the Tent of Meeting.
8 Alors il prélèvera toute la graisse du taureau expiatoire: la graisse qui s’étend sur les intestins, toute la graisse qui y adhère;
He shall take all the fat of the bull of the habitual sin ·miss the mark· offering off of it; the fat that covers the innards, and all the fat that is on the innards,
9 les deux rognons, avec la graisse adjacente du côté des flancs; et la membrane du foie, qu’il détachera avec les rognons.
and the two kidneys, and the fat that is on them, which is by the loins, and the cover on the liver, with the kidneys, he shall take away,
10 Ces portions, prélevées comme sur la victime d’un sacrifice rémunératoire, le pontife les fera fumer sur l’autel aux holocaustes.
as it is taken off of the bull of the sacrifice of peace offerings. The priest shall burn them on the altar of burnt offering.
11 Mais la peau du taureau et toute sa chair, conjointement avec sa tête et ses jambes, ses intestins avec sa fiente,
The bull’s skin, all its meat, with its head, and with its legs, its innards, and its dung,
12 bref, le taureau entier, on le transportera hors du camp, en lieu pur, au déversoir des cendres, et on le consumera sur du bois, par le feu: c’est au déversoir des cendres qu’il doit être consumé.
he shall carry the whole bull outside of the camp to a clean place, where the ashes are poured out, and burn it on wood with fire. Where the ashes are poured out, it shall be burned.
13 Si toute la communauté d’Israël commet une erreur, de sorte qu’un devoir se trouve méconnu par l’assemblée, que celle-ci contrevienne à quelqu’une des défenses de l’Éternel et se rende ainsi coupable;
“‘If the whole congregation of Israel [God prevails] is led astray, intoxicated, unintentional sin ·error· and you fail to observe, and the thing is hidden from the eyes of the assembly, and they have done something against any the mitzvot ·instructions· of Adonai concerning things which should not be done, they are condemned guilty.
14 lorsqu’on aura connaissance du péché qu’on aura commis, l’assemblée offrira un jeune taureau comme expiatoire, qu’on amènera devant la Tente d’assignation.
When the habitual sin ·missing the mark· in which they have sinned ·deviated (from the standard goal)· is known, then the assembly shall offer a young bull for a habitual sin ·missing the mark· offering, and bring it before the Tent of Meeting.
15 Les anciens de la communauté appuieront leurs mains sur la tête du taureau, devant l’Éternel, et on immolera le taureau devant l’Éternel.
The elders of the congregation shall lay their hands on the head of the bull before Adonai; and the bull shall be killed before Adonai.
16 Puis le pontife-oint apportera du sang de ce taureau dans la Tente d’assignation;
The anointed priest shall bring of the blood of the bull to the Tent of Meeting:
17 le pontife teindra son doigt de ce sang et en fera sept aspersions devant l’Éternel, dans la direction du voile;
and the priest shall dip his finger in the blood, and sprinkle it seven times before Adonai, before the veil.
18 appliquera de ce sang sur les cornes de l’autel qui est devant le Seigneur, dans la Tente d’assignation; et le reste du sang, il le répandra dans le réceptacle de l’autel aux holocaustes, qui est à l’entrée de la Tente d’assignation.
He shall put some of the blood on the horns of the altar which is before Adonai, that is in the Tent of Meeting; and the rest of the blood he shall pour out at the base of the altar of burnt offering, which is at the door of the Tent of Meeting.
19 Puis, il en enlèvera toute la graisse qu’il fera fumer sur l’autel,
All its fat he shall take from it, and burn it on the altar.
20 procédant pour ce taureau comme il l’a fait pour le taureau expiatoire: ainsi procédera-t-il à son égard. Et le pontife obtiendra propitiation pour eux, et il leur sera pardonné.
Thus shall he do with the bull; as he did with the bull of the habitual sin ·miss the mark· offering, so shall he do with this; and the priest shall make atonement for them, and they shall be forgiven.
21 Et il fera transporter le taureau hors du camp, et il le brûlera comme il a brûlé le taureau précédent. C’Est un expiatoire public.
He shall carry the bull outside the camp, and burn it as he burned the first bull. It is the habitual sin ·miss the mark· offering for the assembly.
22 Si un prince a péché en faisant, par inadvertance, quelqu’une des choses que l’Éternel son Dieu défend de faire, et se trouve ainsi en faute;
“‘When a ruler sins ·errs (the standard goal)· that is an unintentional mistake sin ·error· against any the mitzvot ·instructions· of Adonai concerning things which should not be done, he is condemned guilty.
23 s’il vient à connaître le péché qu’il a commis, il apportera pour offrande un bouc mâle sans défaut.
If his habitual sin ·missing the mark·, in which he has sinned ·deviated (from the standard goal)·, is made known to him, he shall bring as his offering a goat, a male without defect.
24 Il appuiera sa main sur la tête de ce bouc, et l’égorgera à l’endroit où l’on égorge l’holocauste, devant l’Éternel: c’est tin expiatoire.
He shall lay his hand on the head of the goat, and kill it in the place where they kill the burnt offering before Adonai. It is a habitual sin ·miss the mark· offering.
25 Le pontife prendra, avec son doigt, du sang de l’expiatoire, qu’il appliquera sur les cornes de l’autel aux holocaustes, et il répandra le reste du sang dans le réceptacle du même autel.
The priest shall take some of the blood of the habitual sin ·miss the mark· offering with his finger, and put it on the horns of the altar of burnt offering. He shall pour out the rest of its blood at the base of the altar of burnt offering.
26 Il en fera fumer toute la graisse sur l’autel, comme la graisse de la victime rémunératoire. Le pontife lui obtiendra ainsi propitiation pour sa faute, et elle lui sera remise.
All its fat he shall burn on the altar, like the fat of the sacrifice of peace offerings; and the priest shall make atonement for him concerning his habitual sin ·missing the mark·, and he will be forgiven.
27 Si un individu d’entre le peuple pèche par inadvertance, en faisant une des choses que l’Éternel défend de faire, et se trouve ainsi en faute;
“‘If anyone of the common people sins ·errs (the standard goal)· that is an unintentional mistake sin ·error·, and they have done something against any the mitzvot ·instructions· of Adonai concerning things which should not be done, they are condemned guilty.
28 s’il vient à connaître le péché qu’il a commis, il apportera pour son offrande une chèvre sans défaut, une femelle, à cause du péché qu’il a commis.
If his habitual sin ·missing the mark·, which he has sinned ·deviated (from the standard goal)·, is made known to him, then he shall bring for his offering a goat, a female without defect, for his habitual sin ·missing the mark· which he has sinned ·deviated (from the standard goal)·.
29 appuiera sa main sur la tête de l’expiatoire, et l’égorgera au même lieu que l’holocauste.
He shall lay his hand on the head of the habitual sin ·miss the mark· offering, and kill the habitual sin ·miss the mark· offering in the place of burnt offering.
30 Le pontife prendra de son sang avec le doigt, et l’appliquera sur les cornes de l’autel aux holocaustes; le reste du sang, il le jettera dans le réceptacle de l’autel.
The priest shall take some of its blood with his finger, and put it on the horns of the altar of burnt offering; and the rest of its blood he shall pour out at the base of the altar.
31 Il enlèvera toute la graisse, de même que la graisse a été enlevée de la victime rémunératoire; et le pontife la fera fumer sur l’autel, comme odeur agréable au Seigneur. Le pontife fera ainsi expiation pour lui, et il lui sera pardonné.
All its fat he shall take away, like the fat is taken away from off of the sacrifice of peace offerings; and the priest shall burn it on the altar for a pleasant aroma to Adonai; and the priest shall make atonement for him, and he will be forgiven.
32 Si c’est un agneau qu’il présente comme son offrande expiatoire, il l’offrira femelle sans défaut.
“‘If he brings a lamb as his offering for a habitual sin ·missing the mark· offering, he shall bring a female without defect.
33 Il appuiera sa main sur la tête de l’expiatoire, et on l’égorgera, à titre d’expiatoire, à l’endroit où l’on égorge l’holocauste.
He shall lay his hand on the head of the habitual sin ·miss the mark· offering, and kill it for a habitual sin ·miss the mark· offering in the place where they kill the burnt offering.
34 Le pontife prendra, avec son doigt, du sang de l’expiatoire, qu’il appliquera sur les cornes de l’autel aux holocaustes; et le reste du sang, il le jettera dans le réceptacle de l’autel.
The priest shall take some of the blood of the habitual sin ·miss the mark· offering with his finger, and put it on the horns of the altar of burnt offering; and all the rest of its blood he shall pour out at the base of the altar.
35 Il enlèvera toute la graisse, comme on enlève la graisse de l’agneau dans le sacrifice rémunératoire, et le pontife la fera fumer sur l’autel parmi les combustions destinées au Seigneur. Le pontife lui obtiendra ainsi l’expiation du péché commis, et il lui sera pardonné.
All its fat he shall take away, like the fat of the lamb is taken away from the sacrifice of peace offerings; and the priest shall burn them on the altar, on the offerings of Adonai made by fire; and the priest shall make atonement for him concerning his habitual sin ·missing the mark· that he has sinned ·deviated (from the standard goal)· from, and he will be forgiven.
