1 Adam, Seth, Enos,
[The first person God created was Adam]. Adam’s [son was] Seth. [Seth’s son was] Enosh. [Enosh’s son was] Kenan.
2 Kênân, Mahalalêl, Yéred,
[Kenan’s son was] Mahalalel. [Mahalalel’s son was] Jared. [Jared’s son was] Enoch.
3 Hénoc, Mathusalem, Lamec,
[Enoch’s son was] Methuselah. [Methusalah’s son was] Lamech. [Lamech’s son was] Noah.
4 Noé, Sem, Cham et Japhet.
[Noah’s sons were] Shem, Ham, and Japheth.
5 Enfants de Japhet: Gomer, Magog, Madaï, Yavân, Toubal, Méchec et Tirâs.
The sons (OR, descendants) of Japheth were Gomer, Magog, Madai, Javan, Tubal, Meshech, and Tiras.
6 Enfants de Gomer: Achkenaz, Difath et Togarma.
The sons (OR, descendants) of Gomer were Ashkenaz, Riphath, and Togarmah.
7 Enfants de Yavân: Elicha, Tharsis, Kittim et Rodanim.
The descendants of Javan were Elishah, Tarshish, Kittim, and Rodanim.
8 Enfants de Cham: Kouch, Misraïm, Pout et Canaan.
The sons of Ham were Cush, Mizraim (OR, Egypt), Put, and Canaan.
9 Enfants de Kouch: Seba, Havila, Sabta, Râma et Sabteca; enfants de Râma: Cheba et Dedân.
The descendants of Cush were Seba, Havilah, Sabtah, Raamah, and Sabteca. The sons (OR, descendants) of Raamah were Sheba and Dedan.
10 Kouch engendra aussi Nemrod, celui qui, le premier, fut puissant sur la terre.
Another descendant of Cush was Nimrod. When he grew up, he became a mighty warrior on the earth.
11 Misraïm fut la souche des Loudim, des Anamim, des Lehabim, des Naftouhim,
Mizraim (OR, Egypt) was the ancestor of the Lud people-group, the Anam people-group, the Lehab people-group, the Naphtuh people-group,

18 Arphaxad engendra Chélah, et Chélah engendra Eber.
Arphaxad was the father of Shelah, who was the father of Eber.

Eber had two sons. One was named Peleg [which sounds like the word that means ‘divided’] because during the time that he lived, [the people on] the earth were divided [into various language groups]. Peleg’s [younger] brother was Joktan.

[After]’s [wife Sarah died, he took another wife named] Keturah. The sons of Abraham and Keturah were Zimran, Jokshan, Medan, Midian, Ishbak, and Shuah. Jokshan’s sons were Sheba and Dedan.
33 Enfants de Madiân: Efa, Efer, Hanoc, Abida et Eldaa. Tous ceux-là furent les enfants de Ketoura.
Midian’s sons were Ephah, Epher, Hanoch, Abida, and Eldaah.
34 Abraham engendra Isaac. Enfants d’Isaac: Esaü et Israël.
The son of Abraham [and his wife Sarah] was Isaac, and Isaac’s sons were Esau and [Jacob, whose name was later changed to] Israel.
35 Enfants d’Esaü: Elifaz, Reouêl, Yeouch, Yâlam et Korah.
The sons of Esau were Eliphaz, Reuel, Jeush, Jalam, and Korah.
36 Enfants d’Elifaz: Têmân, Omar, Cefi, Gâtam, Kenaz, Timna et Amalec.
The sons of Eliphaz were Teman, Omar, Zepho (OR, Zephi), Gatam, Kenaz, Timna, and Amalek.
37 Enfants de Reouêl: Nahath, Zérah, Chamma et Mizza.
Reuel’s sons were Nahath, Zerah, Shammah, and Mizzah.
38 Enfants de Séir: Lotân, Chobal, Cibôn, Ana, Dichôn, Ecer et Dichân.
[Another descendant of Esau was Seir. His descendants lived in the Edom region]. Seir’s sons were Lotan, Shobal, Zibeon, Anah, Dishon, Ezer, and Dishan.
39 Enfants de Lotân: Hori et Homam; la sœur de Lotân était Timna.
Lotan’s sons were Hori and Homam, and Lotan’s sister was Timna.
40 Enfants de Chobal: Alyân, Manahath, Ebal, Chefi et Onam. Enfants de Cibôn: Ayya et Ana.
Shobal’s sons were Alvan, Manahath, Ebal, Shepho, and Onam. Zibeon’s sons were Aiah and Anah.
41 Enfants de Ana: Dichôn… Enfants de Dichôn: Hamrân, Echbân, Yithrân et Kerân.
Anah’s son was Dishon. 1 Dishon’s sons were Hemdan (OR, Hamran), Eshban, Ithran, and Keran.
42 Enfants d’Ecer: Bilhân, Zaavân et Yaakân. Enfants de Dichôn: Ouç et Arân.
Ezer’s sons were Bilhan, Zaavan, and Akan (OR, Jaakan). Dishan’s sons were Uz and Aran.

[These are the names of] the kings that ruled [the] Edom [region] before any kings ruled over Israel: Bela, the son of Beor, was king in Edom, and the name of the city [in which he lived] was Dinhabah.

When Husham died, Hadad, the son of Bedad, became the king. He [ruled in] Avith city. Hadad’s [army] defeated [the army of the] Midian [people-group] in [the] Moab [region].

When Hadad died, Samlah became the king. He was from Masrekah [town].
48 Samla étant mort, à sa place régna Chaoul, de Rehoboth-sur-le-Fleuve.
When Samlah died, Shaul became the king. He was from Rehoboth [city] along the [Euphrates] river.
49 Chaoul étant mort, à sa place régna Baal-Hanân, fils d’Akhbor.
When Shaul died, Baal-Hanan, the son of Achbor, became the king.
50 Baal-Hanân étant mort à sa place régna Hadad, dont la ville avait nom Pâï et dont la femme s’appelait Mehêtabel, fille de Matred, fille de Mê-Zahab.
When Baal-Hanan died, Hadad became the king. He was from Pau city. His wife’s name was Mehetabel; she was the daughter of Matred and the granddaughter of Me-Zahab.
51 Hadad mourut, et voici quels furent les chefs d’Edom: le chef Timna, le chef Alva, le chef Yethêth,
Then Hadad died. The leaders of the clans of the Edom people-group were Timna, Alvah, Jetheth,
52 le chef Oholibama, le chef Ela, le chef Pinôn,
Oholibamah, Elah, Pinon,
53 le chef Kenaz, le chef Têmân, le chef Mibçar,
Kenaz, Teman, Mibzar,
54 le chef Magdiêl, le chef Iram. Tels furent les chefs d’Edom.
