2 Chroniques 3
1 Salomon commença à bâtir la maison de Yahweh à Jérusalem, sur le mont Moria, qui avait été indiqué à David, son père, au lieu qu’avait préparé David, sur l’aire d’Ornan le Jébuséen.
And Solomon began to build the house of the Lord in Jerusalem, in mount Moria, which had been shewn to David his father, in the place which David had prepared in the thrashingfloor of Ornan the Jebusite.
2 Il commença à bâtir le deuxième jour du deuxième mois, en la quatrième année de son règne.
And he began to build in the second month, in the fourth year of his reign.
3 Voici les fondements que posa Salomon pour bâtir la maison de Dieu. La longueur, en coudées de l’ancienne mesure, était de soixante coudées, et la largeur de vingt coudées.
Now these are the foundations, which Solomon laid, to build the house of God, the length by the first measure sixty cubits, the breadth twenty cubits.
4 Le portique qui était sur le devant de la longueur, répondant à la largeur de la maison, avait vingt coudées de longueur et cent vingt coudées de hauteur; Salomon le couvrit d’or pur à l’intérieur.
And the porch in the front, which was extended in length according to the measure of the breadth of the house, twenty cubits: and the height was a hundred and twenty cubits: and he overlaid it within with pure gold.
5 Il revêtit la grande maison de bois de cyprès, il la revêtit d’or pur et y fit sculpter des palmes et des chaînettes.
And the greater house he ceiled with deal boards, and overlaid them with plates of fine gold throughout: and he graved in them palm trees, and like little chains interlaced with one another.
6 Il revêtit la maison de pierres précieuses pour la décorer, et l’or était de Parvaïm.
He paved also the floor of the temple with most precious marble, of great beauty.
7 Il revêtit d’or la maison, les poutres, les seuils, les murs et les portes, et il fit sculpter des chérubins sur les murs.
And the gold of the plates with which he overlaid the house, and the beams thereof, and the posts, and the walls, and the doors was of the finest: and he graved cherubims on the walls.
8 Il fit la maison du Saint des saints; sa longueur, répondant à la largeur de la maison, était de vingt coudées, et sa largeur de vingt coudées. Il la revêtit d’or pur, pour une valeur de six cents talents;
He made also the house of the holy of holies: the length of it according to the breadth of the temple, twenty cubits, and the breadth of it in like manner twenty cubits: and he overlaid it with plates of gold, amounting to about six hundred talents.
9 et le poids de l’or pour les clous était de cinquante sicles. Il revêtit aussi d’or les chambres hautes.
He made also nails of gold, and the weight of every nail was fifty sicles: the upper chambers also he overlaid with gold.
10 Il fit dans la maison du Saint des saints deux chérubins, œuvre de sculpture, et on les revêtit d’or.
He made also in the house of the holy of holies two cherubims of image work: and he overlaid them with gold.
11 Les ailes des chérubins avaient ensemble vingt coudées de longueur. Une aile du premier, longue de cinq coudées, touchait au mur de la maison, et l’autre aile, longue de cinq coudées, touchait à l’aile de l’autre chérubin.
The wings of the cherubims were extended twenty cubits, so that one wing was five cubits long, and reached to the wall of the house: and the other was also five cubits long, and reached to the wing of the other cherub.
12 Une aile du second chérubin, longue de cinq coudées, touchait au mur de la maison; et l’autre aile, longue de cinq coudées, rejoignait l’aile de l’autre chérubin.
In like manner the wing of the other cherub, was five cubits long, and reached to the wall: and his other wing was five cubits long, and touched the wing of the other cherub.
13 Les ailes de ces chérubins, déployées, avaient vingt coudées. Ils étaient debout sur leurs pieds, la face tournée vers la maison.
So the wings of the two cherubims were spread forth, and were extended twenty cubits: and they stood upright on their feet, and their faces were turned toward the house without.
14 Salomon fit un voile de pourpre violette, de pourpre rouge, de cramoisi et de fin lin, et il y broda des chérubins.
He made also a veil of violet, purple, scarlet, and silk: and wrought in it cherubims.
15 Il fit devant la maison deux colonnes de trente-cinq coudées de hauteur, et le chapiteau qui était sur leur sommet avait cinq coudées.
He made also before the doors of the temple two pillars, which were five and thirty cubits high: and their chapiters were five cubits.
16 Il fit des chaînettes, comme dans le sanctuaire, et les mit au haut des colonnes, et il fit cent grenades qu’il mit dans les chaînettes.
He made also as it were little chains in the oracle, and he put them on the heads of the pillars: and a hundred pomegranates, which he put between the little chains.
17 Il dressa les colonnes sur le devant du temple, l’une à droite, l’autre à gauche; il nomma celle de droite Jachin, et celle de gauche Booz.
These pillars he put at the entrance of the temple, one on the right hand, and the other on the left: that which was on the right hand, he called Jachin: and that on the left hand, Boot.
