Aggée 2
1 Au septième mois le vingt et un du mois, la parole de Yahweh se fit entendre par l’intermédiaire d’Aggée, le prophète, en ces termes:
On October 17 [of that year], Yahweh gave [me], the prophet Haggai, [another] message.
2 Parle donc à Zorobabel, fils de Salathiel, gouverneur de Juda, à Jésus, fils de Josédec, le grand prêtre, et au reste du peuple, en ces termes:
[The message was that I should] say this to Zerubbabel, Jeshua, and to the other people who were still alive [in Jerusalem]:
3 Quel est parmi vous le survivant qui a vu cette maison dans sa gloire première, et en quel état la voyez-vous maintenant? Ne paraît-elle pas à vos yeux comme rien?
“Do any of you remember how glorious our former temple was? [If you do, ] what does it look like to you now? It must seem like nothing at all.
4 Et maintenant, courage Zorobabel! — oracle de Yahweh. Courage, Jésus fils de Josédec, grand prêtre! Courage, tout le peuple du pays, — oracle de Yahweh, — et agissez! Car je suis avec vous, — oracle de Yahweh des armées.
But now the Commander of the armies of angels says to [all of you], to Zerubbabel and Jeshua and the rest of you people who live in this nation, ‘[Do not be discouraged; ] be strong [DOU], and work [to build this new temple], because I will (be with/help) you.
5 Il y a l’engagement que j’ai pris que j’ai pris avec vous, quand vous êtes sortis d’Égypte; et mon Esprit demeure au milieu de vous: ne craignez rien!
My Spirit remains among you, like I promised your [ancestors] when they left Egypt. [So] do not be afraid!’”
6 Car ainsi parle Yahweh des armées: Une fois encore, et ce sera dans peu, j’ébranlerai les cieux et la terre, la mer et le continent.
This is what the Commander of the armies of angels says: “Soon I will shake the sky and the earth, the oceans and the land again.
7 J’ébranlerai toutes les nations, et les trésors de toutes les nations viendront; et je remplirai de gloire cette maison, dit Yahweh des armées.
I will shake [again the people of] all the nations, and as a result they will bring their treasures [to this temple]. I will fill this temple with [my] glory.
8 A moi l’argent, à moi l’or, — oracle de Yahweh des armées.
The silver and the gold [that they own] are [really] mine, [so they will bring them to me].
9 Grande sera la gloire de cette maison; la dernière plus que la première; et en ce lieu je mettrai la paix, — oracle de Yahweh des armées.
[Then] this temple will be more glorious than the former/previous [temple was]. And I will cause things to go well for you all. [That will surely happen because I, ] the Commander of the armies of angels, have said it.”
10 Le vingt-quatrième jour du neuvième mois, la deuxième année de Darius, la parole de Yahweh se fit entendre par l’intermédiaire d’Aggée, le prophète, en ces termes:
On December 18 of that year, Yahweh gave [another] message to [me], the prophet Haggai.
11 Ainsi parle Yahweh des armées: Demande aux prêtres une décision en ces termes:
This is what the Commander of the armies of angels said to me: “Ask the priests [this question] about what is written in the laws [of Moses about sacrifices]:
12 Voici qu’un homme porte dans le pan de son vêtement de la viande consacrée; il touche de ce pan du pain, un mets bouilli, du vin, de l’huile, ou tout autre aliment: sera-ce consacré? Les prêtres répondirent et dirent: Non.
‘If one [of you priests takes from the altar some] meat that was sacrificed and is carrying it in his robes, if his robe touches [some] bread or stew or wine or [olive] oil or some other food, does that food also become (holy/acceptable for a sacrifice)?’” [When he said that to] the priests, they replied, “No.”
13 — Et Aggée dit: si un homme souillé par le contact d’un mort touche à toutes ces choses, seront-elles souillées? Les prêtres répondirent et dirent: elles seront souillées.
Then Haggai asked them, “If someone becomes unacceptable to God by touching a corpse, and [then he] touches any of those foods, will the food [also] become unacceptable to God?” The priests replied, “Yes.”
14 — Alors Aggée, reprenant la parole, dit: Tel est ce peuple, telle est cette nation devant moi, — oracle de Yahweh; telles sont toutes les œuvres de leurs mains: ce qu’ils offrent là est souillé.
Then Haggai replied, “Yahweh says [this]: ‘It is the same with you people and with this nation. Everything that you do and [all the sacrifices] that you all offer are unacceptable to me [because of the sins that you have committed].
15 Et maintenant, portez votre attention de ce jour-ci en arrière, avant qu’on n’eut encore mis pierre sur pierre, au temple de Yahweh.
Think about what has been happening to you before you began to lay the foundation of my temple.
16 Alors, quand on venait à un tas de vingt mesures, il n’y en avait que dix; quand on venait au pressoir pour y puiser cinquante mesures, il n’y en avait que vingt.
When you expected [to harvest] 20 bushels [of grain, you harvested] only ten bushels. When someone went to a [big] wine vat to get 50 gallons [of wine], there were only 20 [gallons in the vat].
17 Je vous ai frappés par la rouille, la nielle et la grêle, j’ai frappé tout le travail de vos mains; et vous n’êtes pas revenus à moi, — oracle de Yahweh.
I sent (blight/hot winds) and mildew and hail to destroy all your crops. But still you did not return to me.
18 Portez donc votre attention de ce jour-ci en arrière; depuis le vingt-quatrième jour du neuvième mois jusqu’à partir du jour où a été fondé le temple de Yahweh, portez votre attention!
Starting from this day, December 18, the day when [you] have laid the foundation of my [new] temple, continue to think carefully [about your situation].
19 La semence était-elle encore dans le grenier? Même la vigne, le figuier, le grenadier et l’olivier n’ont rien produit: mais à partir de ce jour, je bénirai.
Is there now [RHQ] [any grain] seed left in your barns? [No, because you have eaten the small amount that you harvested]. And there is no fruit on your grapevines and fig trees and pomegranate [trees] and olive trees. But, from now on, I will bless you!’”
20 La parole de Yahweh fut adressée une seconde fois à Aggée le vingt-quatrième jour du mois en ces termes:
On that same day, Yahweh gave another message to me.
21 Parle ainsi à Zorobabel, gouverneur de Juda: J’ébranlerai les cieux et la terre;
[He said, ] “Tell Zerubbabel the governor of Judah that I am going to shake the sky and the earth.
22 je renverserai le trône des royaumes, je détruirai la puissance des royaumes des nations; je renverserai les chars et ceux qui les montent; les chevaux avec leurs cavaliers tomberont, par l’épée les uns des autres.
I will end the power of the kings of [many] nations [DOU]. I will cause their chariots and their drivers, their horses and [the soldiers] who are riding on them to be destroyed. [What will happen is that I will cause the soldiers] to kill each other with their swords.
23 En ce jour-là, — oracle de Yahweh des armées, je te prendrai, Zorobabel, fils de Salathiel, mon serviteur, — oracle de Yahweh, et je ferai de toi comme un cachet; car je t’ai élu, — oracle de Yahweh des armées.
Zerubbabel, you serve [me well]. So [I], the Commander of the armies of angels, declare that [like kings wear] signet rings [to show that they have authority to rule people], I will appoint you and cause you [to have authority to rule]. I will do that because I have chosen you. [That will surely happen because I, ] the Commander of the armies of angels, have said it.”
