2 Chroniques 29

1 Ezéchias devint roi à l’âge de vingt cinq ans, et il régna vingt-neuf ans à Jérusalem. Sa mère s’appelait Abia, fille de Zacharias.

And, Hezekiah, began to reign when he was twenty-five years old, and, twenty-nine years, reigned he in Jerusalem, —and, the name of his mother, was Abijah, daughter of Zechariah.

2 Il fit ce qui est droit aux yeux de Yahweh, selon tout ce qu’avait fait David, son père.

And he did that which was right in the eyes of Yahweh, —according to all that, David his father, had done.

3 La première année de son règne, le premier mois, il ouvrit les portes de la maison de Yahweh et il les répara.

He, in the first year of his reign, in the first month, opened the doors of the house of Yahweh, and repaired them.

4 Il fit venir les prêtres et les lévites et, les ayant réunis sur la place orientale,

And he brought in the priests, and the Levites, —and gathered them together in the broadway on the east;

5 il leur dit: « Ecoutez-moi, lévites! Sanctifiez-vous maintenant, sanctifiez la maison de Yahweh, le Dieu de vos pères, et faites sortir du sanctuaire ce qui est impur.

and said unto them, Hear me, O Levites! Now, hallow yourselves, and hallow the house of Yahweh, God of your fathers, and take forth the impure thing out of the holy place.

6 Car nos pères ont péché, ils ont fait ce qui est mal aux yeux de Yahweh, notre Dieu, ils l’ont abandonné, ils ont détourné leur visage de la demeure de Yahweh et lui ont tourné le dos.

For our fathers have acted unfaithfully and done the thing that was wicked in the eyes of Yahweh our God, and have forsaken him, -and have turned round their faces from the habitation of Yahweh, and have offered their backs.

7 Ils ont même fermé les portes du portique et éteint les lampes, et ils n’ont pas fait brûler de parfums ni offert d’holocaustes dans le sanctuaire au Dieu d’Israël.

Moreover they have shut up the doors of the porch, and have quenched the lamps, and, incense, have they not burned, -and, ascending-sacrifice, have they not caused to go up in the holy place, unto the God of Israel.

8 Et la colère de Yahweh a été sur Juda et Jérusalem, et il en a fait un objet de terreur, de stupeur et de moquerie, comme vous le voyez de vos yeux;

Thus hath it come to pass, that, the wrath of Yahweh, hath been upon Judah and Jerusalem, —and he hath delivered them up as a terror and as an astonishment and as hissing, even as, ye, can see with your own eyes.

9 et voici qu’à cause de cela, nos pères sont tombés par l’épée, et nos fils, nos filles et nos femmes sont en captivité.

And lo! our fathers have fallen by the sword, and, our sons and our daughters and our wives, are in captivity for this.

10 Maintenant, j’ai l’intention de faire alliance avec Yahweh, le Dieu d’Israël, pour que l’ardeur de sa colère se détourne de nous.

Now, is it near my heart, to solemnise a covenant unto Yahweh, God of Israel, —that he may turn from him the glow of his anger.

11 Maintenant, mes enfants, ne soyez plus négligents; car c’est vous que Yahweh a choisis pour vous tenir devant lui à son service, pour être ses serviteurs et pour lui offrir des parfums. »

My sons! now, do not be faulty, —for, of you, hath Yahweh made choice, to stand before him, and to wait upon him, and to be his attendants and burners of incense.

12 Alors les lévites se levèrent: Mahath, fils d’Amasaï, Joël, fils d’Azarias, des fils des Caathites; des fils de Mérari, Cis fils d’Abdi, Azarias, fils de Jalaléel; des Gersonites, Joah, fils de Zemma, Eden, fils de Joah;

Then arose the Levites—Mahath son of Amasai, and Joel son of Azariah, of the sons of the Kohathites, and, of the sons of Merari, Kish son of Abdi, and Azariah son of Jehallelel, —and, of the Gershonites, Joah son of Zimmah, and Eden son of Joah;

13 des fils d’Elisaphan, Samri et Jahiel; des fils d’Asaph, Zacharias et Mathanias;

and, of the sons of Elizaphan, Shimri and Jeiel, —and, of the sons of Asaph, Zechariah, and Mattaniah;

14 des fils d’Héman, Jahiel et Seméï; et des fils d’Idithun, Séméïas et Oziel.

and, of the sons of Heman, Jehiel and Shimei, —and, of the sons of Jeduthun, Shemaiah, and Uzziel;

15 Ils réunirent leurs frères et, après s’être sanctifiés, ils vinrent, selon l’ordre du roi, d’après les paroles de Yahweh, pour purifier la maison de Yahweh.

and they gathered together their brethren, who hallowed themselves, and came in according to the command of the king, in the things of Yahweh, —to purify the house of Yahweh.

16 Les prêtres entrèrent dans l’intérieur de la maison de Yahweh pour la purifier; ils firent sortir dans le parvis de la maison de Yahweh toutes les impuretés qu’ils trouvèrent dans le temple de Yahweh, et de là les lévites les prirent pour les emporter dehors à la vallée de Cédron.

So the priests entered into the inner part of the house of Yahweh, to make purification, and they brought out every unclean thing which they found in the temple of Yahweh, into the court of the house of Yahweh, —where the Levites received it, to carry it forth to the Kidron ravine outside.

17 Ils commencèrent à purifier le premier jour du premier mois; le huitième jour du mois, ils entrèrent dans le portique de Yahweh, et ils mirent huit jours à purifier la maison de Yahweh; le seizième jour du premier mois, ils avaient achevé.

And they began, on the first of the first month, to hallow, —and, on the eighth day of the month, they came to the porch of Yahweh, so they hallowed the house of Yahweh in eight days, —and, on the sixteenth day of the first month, they finished.

18 Ils se rendirent ensuite chez le roi Ezéchias et dirent: « Nous avons purifié toute la maison de Yahweh, l’autel des holocaustes et tous ses ustensiles, et la table de proposition et tous ses ustensiles.

Then came they in unto Hezekiah the king, and said, We have purified all the house of Yahweh, —the altar of ascending-sacrifice, and all the utensils thereof, and the table for setting in array, and all the utensils thereof.

19 Et tous les ustensiles que le roi Achaz avait profanés pendant son règne, lors de ses transgressions, nous les avons remis en état et purifiés; ils sont devant l’autel de Yahweh. »

And, all the utensils which King Ahaz in his reign rejected when he acted unfaithfully, have we made ready and hallowed, —and, there they are, before the altar of Yahweh.

20 Le roi Ezéchias, s’étant levé de bon matin, assembla les chefs de la ville et monta à la maison de Yahweh.

So Hezekiah the king rose up early, and gathered together the rulers of the city, —and went up to the house of Yahweh.

21 Ils présentèrent sept taureaux, sept béliers, sept agneaux et sept boucs, en sacrifice pour le péché, pour le royaume, pour le sanctuaire et pour Juda. Le roi dit aux prêtres, fils d’Aaron, de les offrir sur l’autel de Yahweh.

And they brought in seven bullocks, and seven rams, and seven young sheep, and seven he-goats for bearing sin, for the kingdom and for the sanctuary and for Judah, —and he bade the sons of Aaron, the priests, cause them to ascend upon the altar of Yahweh.

22 Ils immolèrent les bœufs, et les prêtres recueillirent le sang, qu’ils répandirent sur l’autel; ils immolèrent les béliers, et répandirent le sang sur l’autel; ils immolèrent les agneaux, et répandirent le sang sur l’autel.

So they slaughtered the bullocks, and the priests received the blood, and dashed it against the altar, —and they slaughtered the rams, and dashed the blood against the altar, and slaughtered the young sheep, and dashed the blood against the altar.

23 Puis ils firent approcher les boucs pour le péché devant le roi et l’assemblée, et tous posèrent la main sur eux.

And they brought near the he-goats for bearing sin, before the king, and the convocation, —and they leaned their hands upon them;

24 Les prêtres les égorgèrent et avec leur sang ils firent l’expiation à l’autel, faisant l’expiation pour tout Israël; car c’était pour tout Israël que le roi avait ordonné l’holocauste et le sacrifice pour le péché.

and the priests slaughtered them, and sin-cleansed, with their blood, the altar, to put a propitiatory-covering over all Israel, -because, for all Israel, did the king appoint the ascending-sacrifice and the offering for bearing sin.

25 Il fit placer les lévites dans la maison de Yahweh avec des cymbales, des cithares et des harpes, selon l’ordre de David, de Gad, le voyant du roi, et de Nathan le prophète; car cet ordre venait de Yahweh, par l’organe de ses prophètes.

And he caused the Levites to stand in the house of Yahweh, with cymbals and with harps and with lyres, by the commandment of David, and of Gad the seer of the king, and of Nathan the prophet, —for, by the hand of Yahweh, came the commandment by the hand of his prophets.

26 Les lévites prirent place avec les instruments de David, et les prêtres avec les trompettes.

So the Levites took their stand, with the instruments of David, and the priests, with the trumpets.

27 Et Ezéchias dit d’offrir l’holocauste, sur l’autel. Au moment où commença l’holocauste, commencèrent aussi le chant de Yahweh et le son des trompettes, accompagnés avec les instruments de David, roi d’Israël.

And Hezekiah gave word, to cause the ascending-sacrifice to go up on the altar, —and, when the ascending-sacrifice began, the singing unto Yahweh began, and the trumpets, even under the direction of the instruments of David, king of Israel.

28 Toute l’assemblée se prosterna, on chanta le cantique et l’on sonna des trompettes, le tout jusqu’à ce que l’holocauste fut achevé.

And, all the convocation, were bowing themselves in prostration, and, the song, was resounding and the trumpets were blowing, -the whole, until the completing of the ascending-sacrifice.

29 Quand l’holocauste fut achevé, le roi et tous ceux qui étaient avec lui fléchirent le genou et adorèrent.

And, when the offering was complete, the king knelt down and all who were present with him, and bowed themselves in prostration.

30 Le roi Ezéchias et les chefs dirent aux lévites de célébrer Yahweh avec les paroles de David et d’Asaph le voyant, et ils célébrèrent avec joie, et, s’inclinant, ils adorèrent.

And Hezekiah the king and the rulers gave word to the Levites, to offer praise unto Yahweh, in the words of David, and of Asaph the seer, —so they offered praise right joyfully, and bent their heads and bowed themselves in prostration.

31 Alors Ezéchias prit la parole et dit: « Maintenant, vous vous êtes consacrés de nouveau à Yahweh, approchez-vous, présentez des sacrifices et des actions de grâce dans la maison de Yahweh. » Et l’assemblée présenta des sacrifices et des actions de grâces, et tous ceux dont le cœur était généreux offrirent des holocaustes.

Then responded Hezekiah and said—Now, have ye consecrated yourselves unto Yahweh. Draw near, and bring in sacrifices and thank-offerings unto the house of Yahweh, -So the convocation brought sacrifices and thank-offerings, and, everyone of a willing heart, [brought] ascending-sacrifices.

32 Le nombre des holocaustes qu’offrit l’assemblée fut de soixante dix bœufs, cent béliers et deux cents agneaux: tout cela pour un holocauste à Yahweh.

And it came to pass that, the number of ascending-sacrifices which the convocation brought, was—seventy bullocks, and a hundred rams, and two hundred young sheep, —as an ascending-sacrifice unto Yahweh, all these.

33 On consacra en outre six cents bœufs et trois mille brebis.

But, the hallowed beasts, were six hundred bullocks, and three thousand sheep.

34 Mais les prêtres, étant en petit nombre, ne purent dépouiller tous les holocaustes; leurs frères, les lévites, les aidèrent jusqu’à ce que l’ouvrage fut fini et jusqu’à ce que les autres prêtres se fussent sanctifiés, car les lévites avaient mis plus de sincérité de cœur que les prêtres à se sanctifier.

Only, the priests, were too few, and were unable to flay all the ascending-sacrifices, —so their brethren the Levites strengthened them, until the work was complete and until the priests had hallowed themselves, for, the Levites, were more upright in heart to hallow themselves, than the priests.

35 Il y avait d’ailleurs beaucoup d’holocaustes, outre les graisses des sacrifices pacifiques et les libations pour les holocaustes. Ainsi fut rétabli le service de la maison de Yahweh.

Moreover also, the ascending-sacrifices, were in abundance, with the fat portions of the peace-offerings, and with the drink-offerings to every ascending-sacrifice, -thus was established the service of the house of Yahweh.

36 Ezéchias et tout le peuple se réjouirent de ce que Dieu avait préparé pour le peuple, car la chose s’était faite subitement.

And Hezekiah rejoiced, and all the people, because God had established it for the people, —for, suddenly, had the thing come about.
