Psaumes 51
1 Pour le chef musicien. Psaume de David, lorsque le prophète Nathan vint le trouver, après qu'il se fut rendu à Bethsabée. Aie pitié de moi, Dieu, selon ta bonté. Selon la multitude de vos tendres miséricordes, effacez mes transgressions.
“For the leader of the music. A psalm of David, when Nathan the prophet came unto him, after his intercourse with Bathsheba.” Be gracious unto me, O God! according to thy loving kindness; According to the greatness of thy mercy, blot out my transgressions!
2 Lave-moi complètement de mon iniquité. Purifie-moi de mes péchés.
Wash me thoroughly from my iniquity, And cleanse me from my sin!
3 Car je connais mes transgressions. Mon péché est constamment devant moi.
For I acknowledge my transgressions, And my sin is ever before me.
4 Contre toi, et toi seul, j'ai péché, et fait ce qui est mauvais à tes yeux, pour que vous puissiez avoir raison quand vous parlez, et justifié quand vous jugez.
Against thee, thee only, have I sinned, And in thy sight have I done evil; So that thou art just in thy sentence, And righteous in thy judgment.
5 Voici, je suis né dans l'iniquité. Ma mère m'a conçu dans le péché.
Behold! I was born in iniquity, And in sin did my mother conceive me.
6 Voici, vous désirez la vérité dans les parties intérieures. Tu m'enseignes la sagesse au plus profond de moi-même.
Behold! thou desirest truth in the heart; So teach me wisdom in my inmost soul!
7 Purifie-moi avec l'hysope, et je serai pur. Lave-moi, et je serai plus blanc que neige.
Purge me with hyssop, until I be clean; Wash me, until I be whiter than snow!
8 Que j'entende la joie et l'allégresse, pour que les os que tu as brisés puissent se réjouir.
Make me to hear joy and gladness, So that the bones which thou hast broken may rejoice!
9 Cachez votre visage de mes péchés, et efface toutes mes iniquités.
Hide thy face from my sins, And blot out all my iniquities!
10 Crée en moi un cœur pur, ô Dieu. Renouvelez un esprit droit en moi.
Create within me a clean heart, O God! Renew within me a steadfast spirit!
11 Ne me rejette pas loin de ta présence, et ne m'enlève pas ton Saint Esprit.
Cast me not away from thy presence, And take not thy holy spirit from me!
12 Rends-moi la joie de ton salut. Soutiens-moi avec un esprit volontaire.
Restore to me the joy of thy protection, And strengthen me with a willing spirit!
13 Alors j'enseignerai tes voies aux transgresseurs. Les pécheurs se convertiront à vous.
Then will I teach thy ways to transgressors, And sinners shall be converted to thee.
14 Délivre-moi de la culpabilité du sang versé, ô Dieu, le Dieu de mon salut. Ma langue chantera à haute voix ta justice.
Deliver me from the guilt of blood, O God, the God of my salvation! That my tongue may sing aloud of thy goodness!
15 Seigneur, ouvre mes lèvres. Ma bouche publiera tes louanges.
O Lord! open thou my lips, That my mouth may show forth thy praise!
16 Car tu ne prends pas plaisir aux sacrifices, sinon je les donnerais. Tu ne prends pas plaisir à l'holocauste.
For thou desirest not sacrifice, else would I give it; Thou delightest not in burnt-offerings.
17 Les sacrifices de Dieu, c'est un esprit brisé. O Dieu, tu ne méprises pas un cœur brisé et contrit.
The sacrifice which God loveth is a broken spirit; A broken and contrite heart, O God! thou wilt not despise!
18 Fais bien, selon ton bon plaisir, à Sion. Construisez les murs de Jérusalem.
Do good to Zion according to thy mercy; Build up the walls of Jerusalem!
19 Alors tu prendras plaisir aux sacrifices de la justice, en holocaustes et en holocaustes entiers. Puis ils offriront des taureaux sur ton autel.
Then shalt thou be pleased with sacrifices of righteousness, With burnt-offerings and complete offerings; Then shall bullocks be offered upon thine altar.
