Proverbes 4
1 Écoutez, fils, l'instruction d'un père. Soyez attentif et sachez comprendre;
Hear, ye children, the instruction of a father, And attend, that ye may learn understanding!
2 car je vous donne un apprentissage solide. N'abandonnez pas ma loi.
For I give you good instruction; Forsake ye not my commandments.
3 Car j'étais un fils pour mon père, tendre et enfant unique aux yeux de ma mère.
For I was my father's son, A tender and only child in the sight of my mother.
4 Il m'a enseigné, et m'a dit: « Que ton cœur retienne mes paroles. Gardez mes commandements, et vivez.
He taught me, and said to me, Let thy heart hold fast my words; Keep my commandments, and live.
5 Obtenez la sagesse. Comprendre. N'oubliez pas, et ne déviez pas des paroles de ma bouche.
Get wisdom, get understanding; Forget not, and depart not from, the words of my mouth.
6 Ne l'abandonne pas, et elle te préservera. Aimez-la, et elle vous gardera.
Forsake her not, and she will guard thee: Love her, and she will preserve thee.
7 La sagesse est suprême. Faites preuve de sagesse. Oui, même si cela vous coûte tous vos biens, soyez compréhensif.
Wisdom is the principal thing; therefore gain wisdom, And with all thy gain, gain understanding.
8 Estime-la, et elle t'élèvera. Elle vous fera honneur lorsque vous l'embrasserez.
Exalt her, and she will promote thee; She will bring thee to honor, when thou dost embrace her;
9 Elle donnera à ta tête une guirlande de grâce. Elle vous délivrera une couronne de splendeur. »
She will give to thy head a graceful wreath, A beautiful crown will she bestow upon thee.
10 Écoute, mon fils, et reçois mes paroles. Les années de votre vie seront nombreuses.
Hear, O my son! and receive my sayings! So shall the years of thy life be many.
11 Je vous ai enseigné la voie de la sagesse. Je vous ai conduit dans des chemins droits.
I have taught thee the way of wisdom, I have guided thee in the right path.
12 Quand tu iras, tes pas ne seront pas entravés. Quand vous courrez, vous ne trébucherez pas.
When thou goest, thy steps shall not be confined; And, when thou runnest, thou shalt not stumble.
13 Saisissez fermement l'instruction. Ne la laisse pas partir. Garde-la, car elle est ta vie.
Take fast hold of instruction; let her not go; Keep her, for she is thy life.
14 N'entrez pas dans le chemin des méchants. Ne marchez pas dans la voie des hommes mauvais.
Enter not into the path of the wicked, And go not in the way of evil men;
15 Évitez-le, et ne passez pas à côté. Détournez-vous et passez votre chemin.
Avoid it, pass not upon it, Turn from it, and go away.
16 Car ils ne dorment pas s'ils ne font pas le mal. On leur enlève le sommeil, sauf s'ils font tomber quelqu'un.
For they sleep not, unless they have done mischief; Yea, their sleep is taken away, unless they have caused some to fall.
17 Car ils mangent le pain de la méchanceté et boire le vin de la violence.
For they eat the bread of wickedness, And drink the wine of violence.
18 Mais le chemin des justes est comme la lumière qui se lève. qui brille de plus en plus jusqu'au jour parfait.
But the path of the righteous is as the light of dawn, Which groweth brighter and brighter unto the perfect day.
19 La voie des méchants est comme les ténèbres. Ils ne savent pas sur quoi ils butent.
The way of the wicked is as thick darkness; They know not at what they stumble.
20 Mon fils, sois attentif à mes paroles. Prêtez l'oreille à mes paroles.
My son, attend to my words; Incline thine ear to my sayings;
21 Qu'ils ne s'éloignent pas de tes yeux. Gardez-les au centre de votre cœur.
Let them not depart from thine eyes; Keep them in the midst of thy heart!
22 Car ils sont la vie pour ceux qui les trouvent, et la santé à l'ensemble de leur corps.
For they are life to those who find them, And health to all their flesh.
23 Garde ton cœur avec toute la diligence requise, car de lui jaillit la source de la vie.
More than any thing which thou watchest, watch thy heart; For from it goeth forth life.
24 Éloigne de toi une bouche perverse. Mettez les lèvres corrompues loin de vous.
Put away from thee a deceitful mouth, And remove far from thee perverse lips.
25 Laissez vos yeux regarder droit devant vous. Fixez votre regard directement devant vous.
Let thine eyes look straight forward, And thine eyelids be directed before thee.
26 Faites en sorte que la trajectoire de vos pieds soit de niveau. Que toutes tes voies soient établies.
Give heed to the path of thy foot, And let all thy ways be steadfast.
27 Ne vous tournez ni vers la droite ni vers la gauche. Retirez votre pied du mal.
Turn not to the right hand or to the left; Remove thy foot from evil.
