Job 35
1 Et Elihu répondit,
Moreover Elihu, responded and said: —
2 « Pensez-vous que c'est votre droit, ou dites-vous: « Ma justice est plus grande que celle de Dieu ».
This, dost thou think to be right? Thou hast said—My righteousness is more than GOD’S.
3 que vous demandez: « Quel avantage en tirerez-vous? Quel profit aurai-je, plus que si j'avais péché?
For thou dost say, How can one profit by thee? How can I benefit, more than by my sin?
4 Je vais vous répondre, et vos compagnons avec vous.
I, will answer thee plainly, and thy friends with thee.
5 Regardez vers les cieux, et voyez. Voyez les cieux, qui sont plus élevés que vous.
Look at the heavens and see, —and survey the skies—they are higher than thou.
6 Si tu as péché, quel effet as-tu sur lui? Si vos transgressions sont multipliées, que lui faites-vous?
If thou sinnest, what canst thou work against him? Or, if thy transgressions be multiplied, what canst thou do unto him?
7 Si tu es juste, que lui donnes-tu? Ou que reçoit-il de votre main?
If thou art righteous, what canst thou give unto him? Or what, at thy hand, can he accept?
8 Ta méchanceté peut blesser un homme comme toi, et ta justice peut profiter à un fils d'homme.
Unto a man like thyself, might thy lawlessness [reach], and, unto a son of the earth-born, thy righteousness.
9 « A cause de la multitude des oppressions, ils crient. Ils crient au secours à cause du bras du puissant.
By reason of the multitude of oppressions, [men] make outcry, They cry for help, by reason of the arm of the mighty;
10 Mais personne ne dit: « Où est Dieu, mon créateur? qui donne des chansons dans la nuit,
But none saith—Where is GOD my maker, Who giveth songs in the night;
11 qui nous enseigne plus que les animaux de la terre, et nous rend plus sages que les oiseaux du ciel?
Who teacheth us more than the beasts of the earth, and, beyond the bird of the heavens, giveth us wisdom?
12 Ils y crient, mais personne ne répond, à cause de l'orgueil des hommes mauvais.
There, [men] make outcry, and he answereth not, because of the arrogance of evil-doers.
13 Dieu n'entend pas un cri vide, et le Tout-Puissant n'en tiendra pas compte non plus.
Howbeit, vanity, will GOD not hear, Yea, the Almighty, will not regard it.
14 Combien moins quand vous dites que vous ne le voyez pas. La cause est devant lui, et vous l'attendez!
How much less when thou sayest thou wilt not regard him! The cause, is before him, and thou must wait for him.
15 Mais maintenant, parce qu'il n'a pas visité dans sa colère, Il ne fait pas non plus grand cas de l'arrogance,
But, now, because it is not so, [thou sayest] —His anger hath punished, and yet hath he not at all known of transgression;
16 C'est pourquoi Job ouvre la bouche avec des paroles vides, et il multiplie les paroles sans connaissance. »
Thus, Job, vainly openeth his mouth, Without knowledge, he multiplieth words.
