Psalmien 48
1 Koran lasten Veisu-Psalmi. Suuri on Herra, ja sangen kiitettävä, meidän Jumalamme kaupungissa, pyhällä vuorellansa.
A Song; a Psalm. Of the sons of Korah. Great is Jehovah, and greatly to be praised in the city of our God, in the hill of his holiness.
2 Zionin vuori on kauniilla paikalla, koko maan ilo, pohjan puolella, suuren kuninkaan kaupunki.
Beautiful in elevation, the joy of the whole earth, is mount Zion, [on] the sides of the north, the city of the great King.
3 Jumala on tunnettu huoneessansa, että hän sen varjelia on.
God is known in her palaces as a high fortress.
4 Sillä katso, kuninkaat olivat kokoontuneet, ja ynnä menivät ohitse.
For behold, the kings assembled themselves, they passed by together;
5 He ihmettelivät, kuin he tämän näkivät: he hämmästyivät, ja kiiruhtivat pois,
They saw, — so they marvelled; they were troubled, they fled in consternation:
6 Vavistus on heidät siellä käsittänyt, ahdistus niinkuin synnyttäväisen.
Trembling took hold upon them there; anguish, as of a woman in travail.
7 Sinä särjet haahdet meressä itätuulella.
With an east wind thou hast broken the ships of Tarshish.
8 Niinkuin me kuulimme, niin me sen näemme Herran Zebaotin kaupungissa, meidän Jumalamme kaupungissa: Jumala sen vahvistaa ijankaikkisesti, (Sela)
As we have heard, so have we seen, in the city of Jehovah of hosts, in the city of our God: God doth establish it for ever. (Selah)
9 Jumala! me odotamme sinun hyvyyttäs sinun templissäs.
We have thought, O God, of thy loving-kindness, in the midst of thy temple.
10 Jumala! niinkuin sinun nimes on, niin myös on sinun kiitokses hamaan maailman ääreen: sinun oikia kätes on täynnä vanhurskautta.
According to thy name, O God, so is thy praise unto the ends of the earth: thy right hand is full of righteousness.
11 Riemuitkaan Zionin vuori, ja Juudan tyttäret iloitkaan sinun oikeuttes tähden.
Let mount Zion rejoice, let the daughters of Judah be glad, because of thy judgments.
12 Menkäät Zionin ympäri ja piirittäkäät häntä: lukekaat hänen torninsa.
Walk about Zion, and go round about her: count the towers thereof;
13 Turvatkaat hänen muurinsa, vahvistakaat hänen salinsa, että te sitä juttelisitte tulevaisille sukukunnille.
Mark ye well her bulwarks, consider her palaces: that ye may tell it to the generation following.
14 Sillä tämä Jumala on meidän Jumalamme aina ja ijankaikkisesti: hän johdattaa meitä kuolemaan asti.
For this God is our God for ever and ever; he will be our guide until death.
