Psalmien 35
1 Davidin Psalmi. Riitele, Herra, riitaveljeini kanssa: sodi vihollisiani vastaan.
[A Psalm] of David. Strive, O Jehovah, with them that strive with me; fight against them that fight against me:
2 Tempaa kilpi ja keihäs, ja nouse minua auttamaan.
Take hold of shield and buckler, and stand up for my help;
3 Sivalla ase ja suojele minua sortajiani vastaan: sano sielulleni: minä olen apus.
And draw out the spear, and stop [the way] against my pursuers: say unto my soul, I am thy salvation.
4 Häpiään ja pilkkaan tulkoon kaikki, jotka sieluani väijyvät: palatkoon takaperin ja nauruksi tulkoon, jotka minulle pahaa suovat.
Let them be put to shame and confounded that seek after my life; let them be turned backward and brought to confusion that devise my hurt:
5 Olkoon he niinkuin akanat tuulessa; ja Herran enkeli sysätköön heitä pois.
Let them be as chaff before the wind, and let the angel of Jehovah drive [them] away;
6 Heidän tiensä olkaan pimiä ja niljakas; ja Herran enkeli vainotkoon heitä.
Let their way be dark and slippery, and let the angel of Jehovah pursue them.
7 Sillä he ovat ilman syytä verkkonsa virittäneet minua kadottaaksensa, ja ilman syytä ovat sielulleni kaivaneet haudan.
For without cause have they hidden for me their net [in] a pit; without cause they have digged [it] for my soul.
8 Tulkoon hänelle vaiva, jota ei hän tiedä, ja verkko, jonka hän viritti, käsittäköön hänen: siihen hän langetkoon.
Let destruction come upon him unawares, and let his net which he hath hidden catch himself: for destruction let him fall therein.
9 Mutta minun sieluni iloitkoon Herrassa ja riemuitkaan hänen avustansa.
And my soul shall be joyful in Jehovah; it shall rejoice in his salvation.
10 Kaikki minun luuni sanokaan: Herra, kuka on sinun vertaises? sinä joka päästät nöyrän väkevämmän käsistä, raadollisen ja köyhän raatelialtansa.
All my bones shall say, Jehovah, who is like unto thee, who deliverest the afflicted from one stronger than he, yea, the afflicted and the needy from him that spoileth him!
11 Väärät todistajat astuvat edes, jotka minua niihin soimaavat, joista en mitään tiedä.
Unrighteous witnesses rise up; they lay to my charge things which I know not.
12 He tekevät minulle pahaa hyvästä, minulle mielikarvaudeksi.
They reward me evil for good, [to] the bereavement of my soul.
13 Mutta minä, kuin he sairastivat, puin säkin päälleni, vaivasin itsiäni paastolla, ja rukoilin sydämestäni;
But as for me, when they were sick, my clothing was sackcloth; I chastened my soul with fasting, and my prayer returned into mine own bosom:
14 Minä käytin itseni kuin he olisivat olleet minun ystäväni ja veljeni: niinkuin se joka äitiänsä murehtii, kävin minä kumarruksissa murhevaatteissa.
I behaved myself as though [he had been] a friend, a brother to me; I bowed down in sadness, as one that mourneth [for] a mother.
15 Mutta he iloitsevat minun vahingostani ja kokoontuvat: ontuvat myös kokoovat heitänsä havaitsematta minua vastaan, he repivät ja ei lakkaa.
But at my halting they rejoiced, and gathered together: the slanderers gathered themselves together against me, and I knew [it] not; they did tear [me], and ceased not:
16 Ulkokullattuin seassa, jotka leipäkyrsänkin tähden pilkkaavat, kiristävät he hampaitansa minun päälleni.
With profane jesters for bread, they have gnashed their teeth against me.
17 Herra, kuinka kauvan sinä tätä katselet? Päästä siis sieluni heidän hävityksestänsä, ja yksinäiseni nuorista jalopeuroista.
Lord, how long wilt thou look on? Rescue my soul from their destructions, my only one from the young lions.
18 Minä kiitän sinua suuressa seurakunnassa; paljon kansan keskellä minä sinua ylistän.
I will give thee thanks in the great congregation; I will praise thee among much people.
19 Älä salli niiden iloita minusta, jotka syyttömästi minun viholliseni ovat, eli silmää iskeä, jotka minua ilman syytä vihaavat.
Let not them that are wrongfully mine enemies rejoice over me; let them not wink with the eye that hate me without cause.
20 Sillä ei he puhu ystävällisesti, vaan etsivät vääriä syitä hiljaisia vastaan maan päällä,
For they speak not peace; and they devise deceitful words against the quiet in the land.
21 Ja levittävät kitansa avaralta minua vastaan, ja sanovat: niin, niin: sen me mielellämme näemme.
And they opened their mouth wide against me; they said, Aha! aha! our eye hath seen [it].
22 Herra, sinä sen myös näet, älä siis vaiti ole: Herra, älä kaukana ole minusta.
Thou hast seen [it], Jehovah: keep not silence; O Lord, be not far from me.
23 Herää ja nouse katsomaan minun oikeuttani ja asiatani, minun Jumalani ja Herrani.
Stir up thyself, and awake for my right, for my cause, my God and Lord!
24 Herra minun Jumalani, tuomitse minua vanhurskautes jälkeen, ettei he riemuitsisi minusta.
Judge me, Jehovah my God, according to thy righteousness, and let them not rejoice over me.
25 Älä salli heidän sydämissänsä sanoa: niin, niin me tahdomme; ja älä anna heidän sanoa: me olemme hänen nielleet.
Let them not say in their heart, Aha! so would we have it. Let them not say, We have swallowed him up.
26 Häväistäköön ja nauruksi joutukoon kaikki, jotka onnettomuudestani iloitsevat: puetettakoon häpiällä ja pilkalla, jotka itsiänsä minusta kerskaavat.
Let them be ashamed and brought to confusion together that rejoice at mine adversity; let them be clothed with shame and dishonour that magnify themselves against me.
27 Iloitkaan ja riemuitkaan, jotka minun vanhurskauttani rakastavat, ja sanokaan aina: Herra olkoon suuresti kiitetty, joka suo palveliallensa rauhan.
Let them exult and rejoice that delight in my righteousness; and let them say continually, Jehovah be magnified, who delighteth in the prosperity of his servant.
28 Ja minun kieleni puhuu sinun vanhurskauttas, ja kiittää sinua joka päivä.
And my tongue shall talk of thy righteousness, [and] of thy praise, all the day.
