1 Korinttilaisille 14
1 Noudattakaat rakkautta, olkaat ahkerat hengellisten lahjain perään; mutta enemmin propheteeraamaan.
Strive to possess love; and desire earnestly the spiritual gifts, but especially that of prophesying.
2 Sillä joka kielillä puhuu, ei hän ihmisille puhu, vaan Jumalalle; sillä ei kenkään kuule, vaan hän puhuu salaisuudet hengessä.
For he that speaketh in an [[unknown]] tongue speaketh not to men, but to God; for no one heareth; but in the Spirit he speaketh mysteries;
3 Mutta joka propheteeraa, se puhuu ihmisille parannukseksi ja neuvoksi ja lohdutukseksi.
but he that prophesieth speaketh to men edification, and exhortation, and comfort.
4 Joka kielillä puhuu, hän parantaa itsensä; mutta joka propheteeraa, hän seurakunnan parantaa.
He that speaketh in an [[unknown]] tongue edifieth himself; but he that prophesieth edifieth the church.
5 Mutta minä tahtoisin, että te kaikki kielillä puhuisitte, mutta paljoa enemmin, että te propheteeraisitte; sillä se, joka propheteeraa, on suurempi kuin se, joka kielillä puhuu, paitsi sitä jos hän sen selittää, että seurakunta sais siitä parannuksen.
I would that ye all spoke with tongues, but rather that ye prophesied; for greater is he that prophesieth than he that speaketh with tongues, unless he interpret, that the church may receive edification.
6 Vaan nyt, rakkaat veljeni! jos minä tulen teidän tykönne kielillä puhuen, mitä minä olisin teille hyödyllinen, ellen minä puhuisi teille eli ilmoituksen kautta, eli tiedon kautta, eli prophetian kautta, taikka opin kautta?
But now, brethren, if I come to you speaking with tongues, what shall I profit you, unless I speak to you either by revelation, or by knowledge, or by prophesying, or by teaching?
7 Kuitenkin ne hengettömät, jotka äänen antavat, joko se on huilu eli kantele, koska ei ne anna eri ääntä itsestänsä, kuinka se tiedetään, mitä huilulla eli mitä kanteleella soitettu on?
And even things without life that give sound, whether pipe or harp, if they make no distinction in the sounds, how shall that be known which is piped or harped?
8 Ja jos vaskitorvi antaa ymmärtämättömän äänen itsestänsä, kuka tietää sotaan hankita?
For if the trumpet give an uncertain sound, who will prepare himself for the battle?
9 Niin myös te, jos te kielillä puhutte ja ette puhu selkiästi; kuinka se ymmärretään, mitä puhuttu on? Sillä te puhutte tuuleen.
So also ye, unless ye utter by the tongue words easy to be understood, how shall that be known which is spoken? For ye will be speaking into the air.
10 Moninaiset tosin ovat äänet maailmassa, ja ei yhtään niistä ole äänetöintä;
There are, it may be, so many kinds of languages in the world, and not one is without meaning.
11 Sentähden, ellen minä tiedä äänen tointa, niin minä olen puhujalle outo, ja se, joka puhuu, on myös minulle outo.
If then I know not the meaning of the language, I shall be to him that speaketh a foreigner, and he that speaketh a foreigner to me.
12 Niin tekin, koska te ahkerasti hengellisiä lahjoja etsitte, niin ahkeroitkaaat seurakunnan parannukseksi, että teillä kyllä olis.
So also ye, since ye are eager to possess spiritual gifts, be earnest to abound in them to the edification of the church.
13 Sentähden, joka kielillä puhuu, se rukoilkaan, että hän sen taitais myös selittää.
Wherefore let him that speaketh in an [[unknown]] tongue pray that he may interpret.
14 Sillä jos minä kielillä rukoilen, niin minun henkeni rukoilee, mutta minun mieleni on hedelmätöin.
For if I pray in an [[unknown]] tongue, my spirit prayeth, but my understanding is unfruitful.
15 Kuinkas se siis on? Minä rukoilen hengessä, ja rukoilen myös mielessäni: minä veisaan hengessä, ja veisaan myös mielessäni.
How stands it then? I will pray with the spirit, and I will pray with the understanding also; I will sing with the spirit, and I will sing with the understanding also.
16 Mutta koska sinä hengessä siunaat, kuinkas se, joka oppimattoman siassa on, pitää sinun kiitoksees amen sanoman? sillä ei hän ymmärrä, mitäs sanot.
Else, if thou bless with the spirit, how shall he that occupieth the place of the unlearned say the Amen at thy giving of thanks, since he understandeth not what thou art saying?
17 Sinä tosin hyvästi kiität, vaan ei se toinen siitä parane.
For thou indeed givest thanks well; but the other is not edified.
18 Minä kiitän minun Jumalaani, että minä taidan usiammalla kielellä puhua kuin te kaikki.
I thank God, I speak in an [[unknown]] tongue more than ye all;
19 Mutta seurakunnassa tahdon minä paremmin viisi sanaa puhua minun mielestäni, muita neuvoakseni, ennen kuin kymmenentuhatta sanaa kielillä.
yet in the church I would rather speak five words with my understanding, that I might also instruct others, than ten thousand words in an [[unknown]] tongue.
20 Rakkaat veljet, älkäät olko lapset taidossa; vaan olkaat lapset pahuudessa, mutta olkaat taidossa täydelliset.
Brethren, do not become children in understanding; yet in malice be children, but in understanding be men.
21 Laissa on kirjoitettu: minä tahdon puhua tälle kansalle toisilla kielillä ja toisilla huulilla, ja ei he sittekään minua kuule, sanoo Herra.
In the Law it is written: “With men of other tongues and with other lips will I speak to this people,
22 Niin siis kielet ovat merkiksi, ei niille, jotka uskovat, vaan niille, jotka ei usko; mutta ei prophetiat ole uskottomain, vaan uskovaisten tähden.
and yet for all that will they not hear me, saith the Lord.” Wherefore the tongues are for a sign, not to believers, but to unbelievers; but prophesying is not for unbelievers, but for believers.
23 Sentähden jos koko seurakunta yhteen paikkaan kokoontuis ja kaikki puhuisivat kielillä ja sinne tulisivat oppimattomat taikka uskottomat; eikö he teitä mielipuoleksi sanoisi?
If therefore the whole church be assembled in one place, and all be speaking with tongues, and there come in those who are unlearned, or unbelievers, will they not say that ye are mad?
24 Mutta jos te kaikki propheteeraisitte, ja sinne tulis joku uskomatoin taikka oppimatoin, ja hän nuhdeltaisiin kaikilta ja tuomittaisiin kaikilta,
But if all prophesy, and there come in one that is an unbeliever, or unlearned, he is convinced by all, he is searched through by all,
25 Ja niin hänen sydämensä salaudet julki tulisivat, ja hän lankeais kasvoillensa ja rukoilis Jumalaa, tunnustain että Jumala olis totisesti teissä.
the secrets of his heart become manifest; and so falling down on his face, he will worship God, and report that God is indeed within you.
26 Kuinkas se on, rakkaat veljet? Koska te kokoon tulette, niin kullakin teistä on psalmi, hänellä on opetus, hänellä on kieli, hänellä on ilmoitus, hänellä on selitys: ne tapahtukoon kaikki parannukseksi.
How is it then, brethren? When ye come together, every one of you hath a psalm, hath a lesson of instruction, hath a revelation, hath a tongue, hath an interpretation; let all things be done for edification.
27 Jos joku kielillä puhuu, se puhukaan itse toisena, taikka ensinnäkin itse kolmantena, ja vuorottain, ja yksi sen selittäkään.
If any one speak in an [[unknown]] tongue, let it be by two, or, at the most, by three, and in turn; and let one interpret.
28 Ellei hän selittäjä ole, niin olkaan seurakunnassa ääneti ja puhukaan itsellensä ja Jumalalle.
But if there be no interpreter, let him keep silence in the church; and let him speak to himself, and to God.
29 Mutta prophetat puhukaan itse toisena, eli itse kolmantena, ja ne muut tuomitkaan.
And of the prophets let two or three speak, and let the others judge;
30 Ja jos jollekulle tykönä istuvalle ilmoitus tapahtuu, niin olkaan ensimäinen ääneti.
if anything be revealed to another that sitteth by, let the first speaker be silent.
31 Sillä kyllä te kaikki propheteerata taidatte, yksi toisenne perään, että kaikki oppisivat ja tulisivat neuvotuksi.
For one by one ye can all prophesy, that all may learn, and all may be exhorted.
32 Ja prophetain henget ovat prophetaille alamaiset.
And spirits of prophets are subject to prophets;
33 Sillä ei Jumala ole sekaseuraisuuden, vaan rauhan Jumala, niinkuin kaikissa pyhäin seurakunnissa.
for God is not a God of confusion, but of peace. As in all the churches of the saints,
34 Teidän vaimonne pitää seurakunnissa ääneti oleman; sillä ei heille ole sallittu puhua, vaan että he ovat alamaiset, niinkuin myös laki sanoo.
let your women keep silence in the churches; for it is not permitted them to speak, but they are to be in subjection, as also saith the Law.
35 Mutta jos he jotain oppia tahtovat, niin kysykööt miehiltänsä kotona; sillä häijysti se vaimoille sopii, että he seurakunnassa puhuvat.
And if they desire to learn anything, let them ask their own husbands at home; for it is a shame for a woman to speak in the church.
36 Eli onko Jumalan sana teistä tullut? Taikka onko se ainoasti teidän tykönne tullut?
What! Did the word of God come forth from you? Or did it come to you alone?
37 Jos joku luulee itsensä prophetaksi, eli hengelliseksi, se tutkikaan, mitä minä teille kirjoitan, että ne ovat Herran käskyt.
If any one thinketh himself to be a prophet, or spiritual, let him know surely that the directions I am writing to you are the Lord's;
38 Mutta jos joku on tietämätöin, se olkoon tietämätöin.
but if any one be ignorant, let him be ignorant!
39 Sentähden rakkaat veljet, ahkeroitkaat propheteerata ja älkäät kieltäkö kielillä puhumasta.
Wherefore, brethren, desire earnestly to prophesy, and forbid not to speak with tongues;
40 Kaikki tapahtukoon soveliaasti ja säädyllisesti.
but let all things be done becomingly, and in order.
