1 Esi ŋu ke ŋdi kanya la, nunɔlagãwo, dumegãwo, agbalẽfialawo kple ʋɔnudrɔ̃lawo kpe ta be yewoade ŋugble le nu si yewoawɔ la ŋu. Woɖoe be yewoabla Yesu, aɖoe ɖe Pilato, ame si nye Romatɔwo ƒe mɔmefia, si nɔ Yudea dzi ɖum le ɣe ma ɣi me la gbɔ.
Immediately in the morning the chief priests, with the elders and scribes, and the whole council, held a consultation, and bound Jesus, and carried him away, and delivered him to Pilate.
2 Esi Yesu va ɖo Pilato gbɔ la, Pilato biae be, “Wòe nye Yudatɔwo ƒe fia la?” Yesu ɖo eŋu nɛ be, “Ɛ̃, abe ale si miegblɔe ene.”
Pilate asked him, "Are you the King of the Jews?" He answered, "You say so."
3 Nunɔlagãwo tso enu be ewɔ nu vɔ̃ geɖewo.
The chief priests accused him of many things.
4 Pilato gabiae be, “Nu ka ta mèdi be yeaɖo nya aɖeke ŋu o? Nya gbogbo siwo katã wotsɔ ɖe ŋuwò la nye nyateƒea?”
Pilate again asked him, "Have you no answer? See how many things they testify against you."
5 Gake Yesu meke nu o. Esia wɔ nuku na Pilato ŋutɔ.
But Jesus made no further answer, and Pilate was amazed.
6 Azɔ nu ɖeka aɖe si Pilato wɔna ɖaa le Ŋutitotoŋkeke la dzi lae nye be eɖea asi le Yudatɔ gamenɔla ɖeka si ŋu amewo lɔ̃ be wòaɖe asi le la ŋuti.
Now at the feast he used to release to them one prisoner, whom they requested.
7 Gamenɔla siawo dometɔ ɖekae nye Barabas, ame si kple ame bubuwo wu amewo le hoowɔwɔ gã aɖe si wowɔ va yi la me.
There was one called Barabbas, bound with those who had made insurrection, who in the insurrection had committed murder.
8 Azɔ amewo ƒo ƒu eye wobia tso Pilato si be wòaɖe asi le gamenɔlawo dometɔ ɖeka ŋu na yewo abe ale si wòwɔna ɖaa ene.
And the crowd went up and began to ask him to do for them according to his custom.
9 Pilato bia wo be, “Miedi be maɖe asi le Yudatɔwo ƒe fia la ŋu na mia?”
Pilate answered them, saying, "Do you want me to release to you the King of the Jews?"
10 Le esime wònya nyuie be ŋuʋaʋã ta koe nunɔlagãwo tsɔ Yesu de asi nɛ ɖo.
For he perceived that for envy the chief priests had delivered him up.
11 Ke nunɔlagãwo ƒoe ɖe ameawo nu be woabia be wòaɖe asi le Barabas boŋ ŋu, ke menye Yesu o.
But the chief priests stirred up the crowd, that he should release Barabbas to them instead.
12 Pilato bia wo be, “Esi miebe maɖe asi le Barabas ŋu ɖe, nu ka miebe mawɔ kple ame si mieyɔna be Yudatɔwo ƒe Fia?”
Pilate again asked them, "What then should I do to him whom you call the King of the Jews?"
13 Ameawo katã do ɣli be, “Klãe ɖe ati ŋu!”
They shouted again, "Crucify him."
14 Pilato bia wo be, “Nu vɔ̃ ka wòwɔ?” Ke ameawo gado ɣli sesĩe wu tsã be, “Klãe ɖe ati ŋu!”
Pilate said to them, "Why, what evil has he done?" But they shouted all the louder, "Crucify him."
15 Azɔ Pilato vɔ̃ be ameha la ava wɔ ʋunyaʋunya eye be wòadze wo ŋu ta la, eɖe asi le Barabas ŋu na wo. Ke eɖe gbe be woaƒo Yesu kple atam. Le esia megbe la, ekplɔe de asi na ameawo be woaɖaklãe ɖe ati ŋu le woƒe didi nu.
Pilate, wishing to please the crowd, released Barabbas to them, and handed over Jesus, when he had flogged him, to be crucified.
16 Asrafoawo kplɔ Yesu yi woƒe nɔƒe le fiasã la me, eye woyɔ asrafo siwo katã dzɔa fiasã la ŋu la ƒo ƒu.
The soldiers led him away within the court, which is the Praetorium; and they called together the whole cohort.
17 Wodo awu dzĩ nɛ, eye wotsɔ ŋu wɔ kuku heɖɔ nɛ.
They clothed him with purple, and weaving a crown of thorns, they put it on him.
18 Azɔ wode asi fewuɖuɖu le eŋu me. Wodo gbe nɛ gblɔ be, “Yudatɔwo ƒe fia nenɔ agbe tegbee!”
They began to salute him, "Greetings, King of the Jews."
19 Amewo tsɔ ameƒoti ƒo tame nɛ. Ɖewo ɖe ta ɖe mo nɛ, eye ɖewo bua dze klo be yewole esubɔm.
They struck his head with a reed, and spat on him, and bowing their knees, did homage to him.
20 Esi wowɔ funyafunyae ʋuu wòti wo la, woɖe awu dzĩ la le eŋu hetsɔ eya ŋutɔ ƒe awuwo do nɛ eye wokplɔe dzoe be yewoaɖaklãe ɖe ati ŋu.
When they had mocked him, they took the purple off of him, and put his own garments on him. They led him out to crucify him.
21 Le mɔa dzi la, wodo go Simɔn Kirenetɔ wògbɔna dua me, eye wozi edzi be wòakpe ɖe Yesu ŋu, akɔ eƒe atitsoga la. Simɔn siae nye Aleksandro kple Rufus fofo.
And they forced one passing by, Simon of Cyrene, coming from the country, the father of Alexander and Rufus, to go with them, that he might carry his cross.
22 Ale wokplɔ Yesu va teƒe aɖe si woyɔna be Golgata (si gɔmee nye “Ametakoliƒe”).
And they brought him to the place called Golgotha, which is translated, "The place of a skull."
23 Le afi sia la, wotsɔ gbe siwo vena la tsaka wain tsitsi aɖe hekpe nɛ, gake menoe o.
They offered him wine mixed with myrrh to drink, but he did not take it.
24 Woklãe ɖe atitsoga ŋu. Woda akɔ ɖe eƒe awuwo dzi be woakpɔ esi ame sia ame axɔ.
Crucifying him, they parted his garments among them, casting lots on them, what each should take.
25 Anɔ abe ŋdi ga asiekɛ me ene esi woklãe ɖe atitsoga ŋu.
It was nine in the morning, and they crucified him.
26 Woŋlɔ nutsotso si wotsɔ ɖe eŋu esi ta woklãe ɖe atia ŋu la ɖe ʋuƒo kakɛ aɖe dzi klã ɖe atitsoga la tame. Nu si woŋlɔ ɖe ʋuƒoa dzi enye: Yudatɔwo ƒe Fia.
The superscription of his accusation was written over him, "THE KING OF THE JEWS."
27 Woklã adzodala eve aɖewo hã ɖe eƒe axa eveawo dzi. [
With him they crucified two robbers; one on his right hand, and one on his left.
28 Ale wowu ale si mawunya gblɔ da ɖi la nu be, “Wobui ɖe ame vɔ̃ɖiwo dome.]”
And the Scripture was fulfilled which says, "And he was numbered with transgressors."
29 Ame siwo va nɔ eŋu tom la ɖea alɔme le eŋu, eye woʋuʋua ta hekonɛ. Ɖewo hã doa ɣli gblɔna nɛ fewuɖutɔe be, “Ɛhɛ̃! Kpɔ ale si wòva zu na wò ɖa! Wòe be yeate ŋu agbã gbedoxɔ la, agbugbɔ atui le ŋkeke etɔ̃ megbe. Nenye be ŋusẽ le asiwò nàte ŋu awɔ nukunu gã siawo la,
Those who passed by blasphemed him, wagging their heads, and saying, "Ha. You who destroy the temple, and build it in three days,
30 ɖe ɖokuiwò le atitsoga la ŋue!”
save yourself and come down from the cross."
31 Nunɔlagãwo kple agbalẽfiala siwo nɔ tsitre ɖe teƒea hã nɔ alɔme ɖem le Yesu ŋu. Wogblɔ be, “Ame sia te ŋu xɔ na ame bubuwo, gake mate ŋu xɔ na eya ŋutɔ ɖokui o!
Likewise, also the chief priests mocking among themselves with the scribes said, "He saved others. He cannot save himself.
32 “Wò Kristo la! Wò Israel ƒe Fia! Ɖi le atitsoga la ŋu, ekema mí katã míaxɔ dziwò ase!” Adzodala eve siwo woklã ɖe atitsogawo ŋu kpli gɔ̃ hã dzui.
Let the Christ, the King of Israel, now come down from the cross, that we may see and believe him." Those who were crucified with him insulted him.
33 Le ŋdɔ ga wuieve me lɔƒo la, zãdokeli do ɖe anyigba blibo la dzi va se ɖe keke ɣetrɔ ga etɔ̃ me.
Now when it was noon, there was darkness over the whole land until three in the afternoon.
34 Le ɣeyiɣi sia me la, Yesu do ɣli sesĩe be, “Eloi, Eloi, lama sabaktani?” (si gɔmee nye “Nye Mawu, Nye Mawu, nu ka ta nègblẽm ɖi?”).
Then at three in the afternoon Jesus called out with a loud voice, saying, "Elohi, Elohi, lema shabachthani?" which is translated, "My God, my God, why have you forsaken me?"
35 Esi ame siwo nɔ tsitre ɖe afi ma se esia la, wogblɔ be, “Kpɔ ɖa, ele Eliya yɔm.”
Some of those who stood by, when they heard it, said, "Look, he is calling for Elijah."
36 Le esia ta wo dometɔ ɖeka ƒu du yi ɖaku wain tsitsi eye wòkɔe ɖe ƒumekutsa me, tɔe ɖe ati nu hetsɔ ɖo nu na Yesu be wòano hegblɔ kpe ɖe eŋu be, “Miɖe asi le eŋu azɔ ne míakpɔe ɖa be Eliya ava ɖee le atia ŋuti hã.”
One ran, and filling a sponge full of vinegar, put it on a reed, and gave it to him to drink, saying, "Let him be. Let us see whether Elijah comes to take him down."
37 Yesu gado ɣli sesĩe, eye wòmia nu.
Jesus gave a loud cry, and gave up the spirit.
38 Le gaƒoƒo sia me tututu la, xɔmetsovɔ, si wotsɔ xe Kɔkɔeƒewo ƒe Kɔkɔeƒe la ŋkume le gbedoxɔ la me la ma ɖe eve tso dzi va se ɖe anyime ke.
The veil of the temple was torn in two from the top to the bottom.
39 Esi Romasrafo si nɔ Yesu ŋu dzɔm kpɔ ale si Yesu kue la, egblɔ kple seselelãme geɖe be, “Ame sia la, Mawu ƒe Vi wònye vavã!”
And when the centurion, who stood by opposite him, saw that he cried out like this and breathed his last, he said, "Truly this man was the Son of God."
40 Nyɔnu aɖewo hã nɔ adzɔge nɔ nu siwo nɔ dzɔdzɔm la kpɔm. Ame siawo nye Maria Magdalatɔ, Maria, si nye Yakobo suetɔ kple Yose dada kple Salome.
There were also women watching from afar, among whom were both Mary Magdalene, and Mary the mother of James the younger and of Josi, and Salome;
41 Ame siawo kple Galilea nyɔnu bubu siwo nye eyomenɔlawo, ame siwo subɔnɛ ne eva Galilea la hã dze eyome va Yerusalem.
who, when he was in Galilee, followed him, and served him; and many other women who came up with him to Jerusalem.
42 Nu siawo katã dzɔ ŋkeke ɖeka do ŋgɔ na Dzudzɔgbe ŋkeke la. Le ɣetrɔ me lɔƒo la,
When evening had now come, because it was the Preparation Day, that is, the day before the Sabbath,
43 Yosef si tso Arimatia, ame si nye Yudatɔwo ƒe ʋɔnudrɔ̃la gãwo dometɔ ɖeka, si ŋu bubu le la va Yerusalem. Ame sia hã nɔ mɔ kpɔm na mawufiaɖuƒe la ƒe vava. Eyi Pilato gbɔ kple dzideƒo hebia be wòaɖe asi le Yesu ƒe kukua ŋu na ye.
Joseph of Arimathea, a prominent council member who also himself was looking for the kingdom of God, came. He boldly went in to Pilate, and asked for the body of Jesus.
44 Pilato mexɔe se be Yesu ku le ɣeyiɣi kpui aɖe ko megbe o, eyɔ Romasrafowo ƒe amegã si ƒe dzikpɔkpɔ te nyawo nɔ la, eye wòbiae be Yesu ku vavã hã?
Pilate was surprised that he was already dead; and summoning the centurion, he asked him whether he had been dead long.
45 Asrafomegã la ɖo kpe edzi na Pilato be eku. Ale Pilato ɖe mɔ na Yosef be wòaxɔ ame kukua aɖaɖi.
When he found out from the centurion, he granted the body to Joseph.
46 Yosef ƒle aklala biɖibiɖi gã aɖe, eye woɖe Yesu ƒe ŋutilã kuku la le atitsoga la ŋu. Exatsa aklala la ɖe eŋu eye wòkɔe ɖamlɔ yɔdo, si woɖe ɖe agakpe me la me, hemli kpe gã aɖe ɖo yɔdo la nu.
He bought a linen cloth, and taking him down, wound him in the linen cloth, and placed him in a tomb which had been cut out of a rock. He rolled a stone against the door of the tomb.
47 Maria Magdalatɔ kple Maria Yose dada hã nɔ afi ma kpɔ afi si wòɖi Yesu ɖo.
Mary Magdalene and Mary, the mother of Josi, saw where he was placed.
