1 Yosua, Nun ƒe vi la dɔ ŋkutsala eve tso Israelviwo ƒe asaɖa la me le Sitim be woatso tɔsisi la, eye woalé ŋku ɖe nuwo ŋu le afi ma le adzame, vevietɔ le Yeriko. Ŋkutsalawo yi ɖadze gbolo aɖe si ŋkɔe nye Rahab la gbɔ. Wodi be yewoanɔ afi ma ŋkeke eve,
Joshua the son of Nun secretly sent two men out of Shittim as spies, saying, “Go, view the land, including Jericho.” They went and came into the house of a prostitute whose name was Rahab, and slept there.
2 ke ame aɖewo yi ɖagblɔ na Yeriko fia be, Israelvi eve, ame siwo ɖi ŋkutsalawo la va ɖo dua me fiẽ ma.
The king of Jericho was told, “Behold, men of the children of Israel came in here tonight to spy out the land.”
3 Ale fia la dɔ dɔlawo ɖo ɖe Rahab be, “Ɖe asi le amedzroawo ŋu, elabena ŋkutsalawo wonye, eye Israelviwo ƒe kplɔlawoe ɖo wo ɖa be woadi mɔ nyuitɔ si dzi woato aho aʋa ɖe mía ŋu.”
Jericho’s king sent to Rahab, saying, “Bring out the men who have come to you, who have entered into your house; for they have come to spy out all the land.”
4 Ke Rahab ɣla amedzroawo, eye wògblɔ be, “Ameawo nya va afi sia do ŋgɔ na mi, gake nyemenya ne ŋkutsalawo wonye o.
The woman took the two men and hid them. Then she said, “Yes, the men came to me, but I did not know where they came from.
5 Wodzo esi xexea me de asi tsyɔtsyɔ me, eye wòsusɔ vie woatu dua ƒe agbowo. Nyemenya afi si woyi o, ne mieɖe abla la, ɖewohĩ miatu wo!”
About the time of the shutting of the gate, when it was dark, the men went out. Where the men went, I do not know. Pursue them quickly. You may catch up with them.”
6 Nu si Rahab wɔe nye, ekplɔ ameawo yi xɔta, eye wòɣla wo ɖe ɖetifu si wòsia ɖe afi ma la te.
But she had brought them up to the roof, and hidden them under the stalks of flax which she had laid in order on the roof.
7 Ale dɔlawo di wo yi keke Yɔdan tɔsisi la to. Esi dɔlawo dze mɔ ko la, wotu dua ƒe agbowo.
The men pursued them along the way to the fords of the Jordan River. As soon as those who pursued them had gone out, they shut the gate.
8 Hafi woamlɔ anyi la, Rahab yi ɖagblɔ na amedzroawo be,
Before they had lain down, she came up to them on the roof.
9 “Menyae nyuie be Yehowa le míaƒe anyigba tsɔ ge na mi. Mí katã míele mia vɔ̃m. Miaƒe ŋkɔ ‘Israel’ sese ɖeɖe hã dea vɔvɔ̃ lãme na ame sia ame,
She said to the men, “I know that the LORD has given you the land, and that the fear of you has fallen upon us, and that all the inhabitants of the land melt away before you.
10 elabena míese ale si Yehowa ɖe mɔ to Ƒu Dzĩ la me na mi esi miedzo le Egipte! Míenya nu si miewɔ Sixɔn kple Ɔg, Amoritɔwo ƒe fia eve siwo le Yɔdan tɔsisi la ƒe ɣedzeƒe lɔƒo kple ale si miegblẽ woƒe anyigba, eye mietsrɔ̃ dukɔ blibo la gbidigbidi.
For we have heard how the LORD dried up the water of the Red Sea before you, when you came out of Egypt; and what you did to the two kings of the Amorites, who were beyond the Jordan, to Sihon and to Og, whom you utterly destroyed.
11 Nu sia ta míele mia vɔ̃m ŋutɔŋutɔ! Nya siawo sese ɖe dzi le mía ƒo, elabena Yehowa, miaƒe Mawue nye Mawu gã le dziƒo, eye menye mawu dzodzro aɖeke o.
As soon as we had heard it, our hearts melted, and there was not any more spirit in any man, because of you: for the LORD your God, he is God in heaven above, and on earth beneath.
12 Ke azɔ la, mika atam nam kple Yehowa, miaƒe Mawu la be miave nye ƒometɔwo nu, elabena nye hã menyo dɔ me na mi. Azɔ mina dzesim abe kakaɖedzi ene,
Now therefore, please swear to me by the LORD, since I have dealt kindly with you, that you also will deal kindly with my father’s house, and give me a true sign;
13 be miaɖe fofonye kple danye, nɔvinye ŋutsuwo kple nɔvinye nyɔnuwo ƒe agbe kpe ɖe woƒe nunɔamesiwo ŋu, eye be míaɖe mí tso ku me.”
and that you will save alive my father, my mother, my brothers, and my sisters, and all that they have, and will deliver our lives from death.”
14 Amedzroawo lɔ̃, eye wodo ŋugbe nɛ be, “Ne màfia mía yomemɔ o la, ekema míakpɔ egbɔ be wò kple wò ƒometɔwo katã mianɔ dedie.
The men said to her, “Our life for yours, if you do not talk about this business of ours; and it shall be, when the LORD gives us the land, that we will deal kindly and truly with you.”
15 Míatsɔ míaƒe agbe aʋli mia ta.” Esi Rahab ƒe xɔta kɔ wu dua ƒe gliwo ta la, esa ka legbe aɖe ɖe eƒe fesreti ŋu, eye wòna amedzroawo ɖiɖi to ka la ŋu ɖe anyigba le dua godo.
Then she let them down by a cord through the window; for her house was on the side of the wall, and she lived on the wall.
16 Rahab gblɔ na ŋkutsalawo be, “Misi yi toawo dzi. Minɔ afi ma ŋkeke etɔ̃ va se ɖe esime ame siwo le mia dim la natrɔ agbɔ, ekema miate ŋu atrɔ adzo azɔ.”
She said to them, “Go to the mountain, lest the pursuers find you. Hide yourselves there three days, until the pursuers have returned. Afterward, you may go your way.”
17 Ŋutsuawo gblɔ nɛ be, “Atam si nèna míeka fifia la, mabla mí o,
The men said to her, “We will be guiltless of this your oath which you have made us to swear.
18 negbe ne míege ɖe anyigba la dzi, eye nètsɔ avɔ dzĩ tsi ɖe fesre si nètsɔ mí toe la nu, eye ne mèkplɔ fofowò kple dawò, nɔviwò ŋutsuwo kple wò ƒometɔwo katã va wò aƒe me o la, míedze agɔ o.
Behold, when we come into the land, tie this line of scarlet thread in the window which you used to let us down. Gather to yourself into the house your father, your mother, your brothers, and all your father’s household.
19 Ne ame aɖe do go le wò aƒe me yi mɔtata dzi la, eƒe ʋu anɔ eya ŋutɔ ƒe ta dzi, menye míawoe wɔe o. Ke hena ame siwo anɔ wò aƒe me la, amea ƒe ʋu ava míaƒe ta dzi ne míeka asi eŋuti.
It shall be that whoever goes out of the doors of your house into the street, his blood will be on his head, and we will be guiltless. Whoever is with you in the house, his blood shall be on our head, if any hand is on him.
20 Ke ne ègblɔ nu si wɔm míele la na ame aɖe la, atam si nèna míeka la, mabla mí o.”
But if you talk about this business of ours, then we shall be guiltless of your oath which you have made us to swear.”
21 Rahab gblɔ na wo bena, “Melɔ̃ ɖe miaƒe ɖoɖo siawo dzi abe ale si miegblɔe ene.” Ale wòɖe asi le wo ŋu woyi. Ke etsi ka dzĩ la ɖe fesreti la ŋu.
She said, “Let it be as you have said.” She sent them away, and they departed. Then she tied the scarlet line in the window.
22 Ŋkutsalawo yi toawo dzi, eye wonɔ afi ma ŋkeke etɔ̃ va se ɖe esime ame siwo nɔ wo yome tim la di wo le afi sia afi le mɔa dzi do kpoe, eye wotrɔ gbɔ va dua me.
They went and came to the mountain, and stayed there three days, until the pursuers had returned. The pursuers sought them all along the way, but did not find them.
23 Ŋkutsala eveawo ɖi tso toawo dzi, eye wotso tɔsisi la. Wogblɔ nya sia nya si dzɔ la na Yosua, Nun ƒe vi.
Then the two men returned, descended from the mountain, crossed the river, and came to Joshua the son of Nun. They told him all that had happened to them.
24 Wogblɔ be, “Kakaɖedzi blibo li bena, Yehowa atsɔ anyigba la katã ana mí, elabena afi ma tɔwo katã le mía vɔ̃m ŋutɔŋutɔ.”
They said to Joshua, “Truly the LORD has delivered all the land into our hands. Moreover, all the inhabitants of the land melt away before us.”
