< Hiob 8 >
1 Tete Suhitɔ, Bildad ɖo nya ŋu na Hiob be,
Then answered Bildad the Shuhite, and said:
2 “Va se ɖe ɣe ka ɣie nànɔ nya siawo gblɔm? Wò nyawo nye yaƒoƒo sesẽ ɖeɖe ko.
How long wilt thou speak such things? How long shall the words of thy mouth be like a strong wind?
3 Ɖe Mawu atso afia ŋkunɔa? Ɖe Ŋusẽkatãtɔ la atrɔ nya dzɔdzɔe abua?
Will God pervert judgment? Or will the Almighty pervert justice?
4 Esi viwòwo wɔ nu vɔ̃ ɖe eŋu la, etsɔ wo de asi na tohehe si woƒe nu vɔ̃ dze na.
As thy children sinned against him, He hath given them up to their transgression.
5 Gake ne àkpɔ Mawu dzi ɖa, aƒo koko na Ŋusẽkatãtɔ la,
But if thou wilt seek early to God, And make thy supplication to the Almighty, —
6 ekema ne èle dzadzɛe, le dzɔdzɔe, fifia gɔ̃ hã la, atso le tawò eye wòagaɖo wò te, ada wò ɖe teƒe si wòle be nànɔ.
If thou wilt be pure and upright, Surely he will yet arise for thee, And prosper thy righteous habitation;
7 Wò gɔmedzedze anɔ sue gake emegbe àdzi asɔ gbɔ ɖe edzi.
So that thy beginning shall be small, And thy latter end very great.
8 “Bia dzidzime siwo do ŋgɔ, eye nàkpɔe ɖa be nu ka wo fofowo srɔ̃ mahã,
For inquire, I pray thee, of the former age, And mark what hath been searched out by their fathers;
9 elabena míawo la, etsɔviwo míenye, míenya naneke o eye míaƒe ŋkekewo le anyigba dzi le abe vɔvɔli ko ene.
(For we are of yesterday and know nothing, Since our days upon the earth are but a shadow; )
10 Ɖe womafia nu wò, agblɔe na wò oa? Ɖe womagblɔ nya na wò tso woƒe gɔmesese me oa?
Will not they instruct thee, and tell thee, And utter words from their understanding?
11 Ɖe keti miena, tsina ƒlaluu ɖe teƒe si sii mele oa? Ɖe aƒla awɔ nyuie ne mekpɔ tsi oa?
“Can the paper-reed grow up without mire? Can the bulrush grow without water?
12 Esi wogale mumu ko eye womeɖo sisi me haɖe o la, woyrɔna kaba wu gbe si le gbedzi.
While it is yet in its greenness, and is not cut down, It withereth before any other herb.
13 Aleae wòvaa emee na ame siwo katã ŋlɔ Mawu be eye nenemae Mawumavɔ̃lawo ƒe mɔkpɔkpɔ tsrɔ̃nae.
Such is the fate of all who forget God; So perisheth the hope of the ungodly.
14 Nu si ŋu wòɖo dzi ɖo la meɖo ŋusẽ o eye nu si wòde mee la nye yiyiɖɔ.
His confidence shall come to nought, And his trust shall prove a spider's web.
15 Ede me eƒe ɖɔ eye wòlã, eku ɖe eŋu, gake etso ɖe eƒe asi me.
He shall lean upon his house, and it shall not stand; He shall lay fast hold on it, but it shall not endure.
16 Ɖeko wòle abe ati si wode tsii nyuie le ŋdɔgbe ene ekekea eƒe alɔwo ɖe abɔa me,
He is in full green before the sun, And his branches shoot forth over his garden;
17 eƒe kewo blana ɖe agakpe geɖewo ŋu eye wodia teƒe le kpewo dome.
His roots are entwined about the heap, And he seeth the place of stones;
18 Gake ne wohoe le enɔƒe la, teƒe la gbea nu le egbɔ eye wògblɔna be, ‘Nyemekpɔ wò kpɔ o.’
When he shall be destroyed from his place, It shall deny him, saying, 'I never saw thee.'
19 Vavã eƒe agbe yrɔna eye atiku bubuwo miena ɖe eteƒe.
Lo! such is the joy of his course! And others shall spring up from his place”
20 “Enye nyateƒe be Mawu megbea ame si ŋu fɔɖiɖi mele o alo doa ŋusẽ nu vɔ̃ɖi wɔlawo ƒe asi o.
Behold, God will not cast away an upright man; Nor will he help the evil-doers.
21 Ke hã la, agana nukoko nayɔ wò nu me fũu, eye wòatsɔ dzidzɔɣli ayɔ wò nuyiwo nu.
While he filleth thy mouth with laughter, And thy lips with gladness,
22 Ŋukpe alé wò futɔwo eye ame vɔ̃ɖiwo ƒe agbadɔwo maganɔ anyi o.”
They that hate thee shall be clothed with shame, And the dwelling-place of the wicked shall come to nought.
