< Hiob 15 >
1 Temanitɔ, Elifaz ɖo Hiob ƒe nyawo ŋu be,
And Eliphaz the Themanite, answered, and said:
2 “Ɖe nunyala aɖo nya ŋu kple susu gbɔlo alo ana ɣedzeƒeya xɔdzo nayɔ eƒe dɔ mea?
Will a wise man answer as if he were speaking in the wind, and fill his stomach with burning heat?
3 Ɖe wòatsɔ nya manyatalenuwo ahe nya alo atsɔ nuƒoƒo si nye nya dzodzro ahe nyaea?
Thou reprovest him by words, who is not equal to thee, and thou speakest that which is not good for thee.
4 Kura gɔ̃ hã la, èɖi gbɔ̃ mawuvɔvɔ̃ eye nèhe mawusubɔsubɔ adodoea ɖe megbe.
As much as is in thee, thou hast made void fear, and hast taken away prayers from before God.
5 Wò nu vɔ̃e ƒoe ɖe nuwò ale nètia ayetɔwo ƒe aɖe.
For thy iniquity hath taught thy mouth, and thou imitatest the tongue of blasphemers.
6 Wò ŋutɔ wò nue bu fɔ wò, menye tɔnyee o, eye wò ŋutɔ wò nuyiwoe ɖu ɖasefo ɖe ŋuwò.
Thy own mouth shall condemn thee, and not I: and thy own lips shall answer thee.
7 “Wòe nye ame gbãtɔ si wodzi kpɔa? Ɖe wodzi wò hafi togbɛwo va dzɔa?
Art thou the first man that was born, or wast thou made before the hills?
8 Èse Mawu ƒe aɖaŋudede kple toa? Gbɔwò ko nunya tso aƒe ɖoa?
Hast thou heard God’s counsel, and shall his wisdom be inferior to thee?
9 Nu ka nènya si míawo ya míenya o? Nu ka gɔmee nèse esi gɔme míawo míese o?
What knowest thou that we are ignorant of? what dost thou understand that we know not?
10 Ta ƒowɔ tɔwo kple amegãɖeɖiwo le mía dzi, ame siwo tsi wu fofowò gɔ̃ hã.
There are with us also aged and ancient men, much elder than thy fathers.
11 Ɖe Mawu ƒe akɔfanamenya siwo wògblɔ bɔlɔɔ la, mesɔ agbɔ na wò oa?
Is it a great matter that God should comfort thee? but thy wicked words hinder this.
12 Nu ka ŋuti wò dzi kplɔ wò dzoe, wò ŋkuwo le dzo dam,
Why doth thy heart elevate thee, and why dost thou stare with thy eyes, as if they were thinking great things?
13 ale be nènyɔ wò dziku ɖe Mawu ŋu eye nètrɔ nya siawo kɔ ɖi tso wò nu me?
Why doth thy spirit swell against God, to utter such words out of thy mouth?
14 “Nu kae nye amegbetɔ be, wòadza alo ame si nyɔnu dzi la be wòanɔ dzɔdzɔe?
What is man that he should be without spot, and he that is born of a woman that he should appear just?
15 Ne Mawu meka ɖe eƒe kɔkɔetɔwo dzi o eye dziƒowo gɔ̃ hã medza le eƒe ŋkume o,
Behold among his saints none is unchangeable, and the heavens are not pure in his sight.
16 aleke wòahanye amegbetɔ si nye aɖi, esi dovo eye wòno nu vɔ̃ɖi abe tsi ene!
How much more is man abominable, and unprofitable, who drinketh iniquity like water?
17 “Ɖo tom ne maɖe nu me na wò; na magblɔ nu si teƒe mekpɔ la na wò,
I will shew thee, hear me: and I will tell thee what I have seen.
18 nu si nunyalawo ɖe gbeƒãe eye womeɣla naneke si woxɔ tso wo fofowo gbɔ o,
Wise men confess and hide not their fathers.
19 ame siwo ko wotsɔ anyigba la na, esi amedzro aɖeke meto wo dome o.
To whom alone the earth was given, and no stranger hath passed among them.
20 Ame vɔ̃ɖi kpea fuwo ƒe fu le eƒe agbemeŋkekewo katã me, nenema ke ŋutasẽla hã kpea fu le ƒe siwo katã woɖo ɖi nɛ la me.
The wicked man is proud all his days, and the number of the years of his tyranny is uncertain.
21 Gbeɖiɖi siwo ŋu ŋɔdzi le la yɔ eƒe tome fũu eye ne wòdze abe nuwo ɖe wole afɔ tsɔm ene la, adzohawo va dzea edzi.
The sound of dread is always in his ears: and when there is peace, he always suspecteth treason.
22 Dzi ɖe le eƒo be mate ŋu asi le viviti la nu o elabena wotsɔe de asi na yi.
He believeth not that he may return from darkness to light, looking round about for the sword on every side.
23 Ele tsaglalã tsam le nuɖuɖu dim abe akaga ene elabena enya be vivitidogbe la tu aƒe kpokploe.
When he moveth himself to seek bread, he knoweth that the day of darkness is ready at his hand.
24 Xaxa kple vevesese na ŋɔdzi lé eya amea ŋutɔ eye wova dze edzi abe fia si le klalo na aʋakpekpe ene.
Tribulation shall terrify him, and distress shall surround him, as a king that is prepared for the battle.
25 Elabena eŋlɔ kɔ do ɖe mo na Mawu eye wòdze aglã ɖe Ŋusẽkatãtɔ la ŋu,
For he hath stretched out his hand against God, and hath strengthened himself against the Almighty.
26 helũ ɖe edzi ɖekematsɔlemetɔe kple akpoxɔnu titri sesẽ aɖe.
He hath run against him with his neck raised up, and is armed with a fat neck.
27 “Togbɔ be eda ami ɖe mo gbɔ eye wòlolo ɖe ali gbɔ hã la,
Fatness hath covered his face, and the fat hangeth down on his sides.
28 anɔ du gbagbãwo kple xɔ siwo me ame aɖeke mele o la me, xɔ siwo gbã zu glikpo.
He hath dwelt in desolate cities, and in desert houses that are reduced into heaps.
29 Magakpɔ hotsui o eye eƒe kesinɔnuwo maganɔ anyi alo eƒe nunɔamesiwo nagbagba ɖe anyigba dzi o.
He shall not be enriched, neither shall his substance continue, neither shall he push his root in the earth.
30 Masi le viviti la nu o, dzo ƒe aɖe ana eƒe alɔwo nayrɔ eye Mawu ƒe numegbɔgbɔ akplɔe adzoe.
He shall not depart out of darkness: the flame shall dry up his branches, and he shall be taken away by the breath of his own month.
31 Megable eɖokui, atsɔ eƒe dzi aɖo nu si nye tofloko la ŋu o elabena ɖeke maɖe vi nɛ o.
He shall not believe, being vainly deceived by error, that he may be redeemed with any price.
32 Hafi eƒe ɣeyiɣi nade la, woaɖo eteƒe nɛ abe ale si dze ene eye eƒe alɔdzewo matsi ɖe edzi o.
Before his days be full he shall perish: and his hands shall wither away.
33 Anɔ abe wainka si ŋu wogbe waintsetse gbogbowo katã le la ene alo abe amiti si dudu eƒe seƒoƒowo ene.
He shall be blasted as a vine when its grapes are in the first flower, and as an olive tree that casteth its flower.
34 Elabena mawumavɔ̃lawo ƒe ha madzi ɖe edzi o eye dzo afia ame siwo lɔ̃a zãnuxɔxɔ ƒe agbadɔwo.
For the congregation of the hypocrite is barren, and fire shall devour their tabernacles, who love to take bribes.
35 Wofɔa fukpekpe ƒe fu, hedzia nu vɔ̃ɖi eye beble ɖoa atsyɔ̃ ɖe woƒe vidzidɔwo me.”
He hath conceived sorrow, and hath brought forth iniquity, and his womb prepareth deceits.
