1 Estis homo sur la monto de Efraim; lia nomo estis Miĥa.

And there was a man of the hill country of Ephraim, whose, name, was Micah.

2 Li diris al sia patrino: La mil kaj cent arĝentaj moneroj, kiujn oni prenis de vi kaj pro kiuj vi malbenis antaŭ miaj oreloj, jen la arĝento estas ĉe mi; mi prenis ĝin. Kaj lia patrino diris: Mia filo estu benata de la Eternulo.

And he said unto his mother—The eleven hundred pieces of silver that were taken by thee, when, thou, didst utter a curse, and didst also say in my hearing, Lo! the silver, is with me! I took it. Then said his mother, Blessed, be my son by Yahweh.

3 Kaj li redonis la mil kaj cent arĝentajn monerojn al sia patrino. Kaj lia patrino diris: Mi dediĉis la arĝenton al la Eternulo el mia mano por mia filo, por fari figuron kaj idolon; nun mi redonas ĝin al vi.

And, when he had restored the eleven hundred shekels of silver to his mother, his mother said—I had, hallowed, the silver unto Yahweh out of mine own hand, for my son, to make a graved (molten) image, now, therefore, I will restore it unto thee.

4 Sed li redonis la arĝenton al sia patrino. Lia patrino prenis ducent arĝentajn monerojn kaj donis ilin al orfandisto, kaj li faris el tio figuron kaj idolon, kiu restis en la domo de Miĥa.

But he restored the silver to his mother, —so his mother took two hundred pieces of silver, and gave it to the silversmith, who made thereof a graved (molten) image, and it was in the house of Micah.

5 Tiu homo Miĥa havis domon de dio; kaj li faris efodon kaj domajn diojn, kaj konsekris unu el siaj filoj, ke li estu por li pastro.

Now, the man Micah, had a house of gods, —and he made an ephod, and teraphim, and installed one of his sons, who became his priest.

6 En tiu tempo ne ekzistis reĝo ĉe Izrael; ĉiu faradis tion, kio plaĉis al li.

In those days, there was no king in Israel, —every man did, that which was right in his own eyes.

7 Estis junulo el Bet-Leĥem de Jehuda, el familio de Jehudaidoj, li estis Levido kaj loĝis tie.

And there was a young man out of Bethlehem-judah, of the family of Judah, —he, being a Levite, and, he, being a sojourner there.

8 Tiu homo iris el la urbo, el Bet-Leĥem de Jehuda, por ekloĝi tie, kie li trovos oportune. Kaj li venis dum sia vojirado sur la monton de Efraim al la domo de Miĥa.

So the man took his journey out of the city, out of Bethlehem-judah, to sojourn, wheresoever he could find [a home], —and he came into the hill country of Ephraim, as far as the house of Micah, in pursuing his journey.

9 Kaj Miĥa diris al li: De kie vi venas? Kaj tiu diris al li: Mi estas Levido el Bet-Leĥem de Jehuda, kaj mi iras, por ekloĝi tie, kie mi trovos oportune.

And Micah said unto him, Whence comest thou? And he said unto him—A Levite, am I, from Bethlehem-judah, and, I, am taking my journey to sojourn, wheresoever I can find [a home].

10 Tiam Miĥa diris al li: Restu ĉe mi kaj estu por mi patro kaj pastro, kaj mi donados al vi po dek arĝentaj moneroj ĉiujare kaj necesajn vestojn kaj manĝaĵon. Kaj la Levido iris.

And Micah said unto him—Dwell with me, and be to me a father and a priest, and, I, will give thee ten pieces of silver by the year, and a suit of apparel, and thy sustenance. So the Levite went.

11 Kaj la Levido konsentis resti ĉe tiu homo, kaj la junulo estis por li kiel unu el liaj filoj.

And the Levite was content to dwell with the man, —and the young man became to him, as one of his sons.

12 Kaj Miĥa konsekris la Levidon, kaj la junulo fariĝis por li pastro kaj loĝis en la domo de Miĥa.

And Micah installed the Levite, and the young man became his priest, —and remained in the house of Micah.

13 Kaj Miĥa diris: Nun mi scias, ke la Eternulo bonfaros al mi, ĉar Levido fariĝis por mi pastro.

Then said Micah—Now, I know that Yahweh will do me good, —seeing I have a Levite as my priest.
