Aionian Verses
and all his sons and all his daughters rise to comfort him, and he refuseth to comfort himself, and saith, 'For — I go down mourning unto my son, to Sheol,' and his father weepeth for him. (Sheol )
And all his sons and all his daughters rose up to comfort him; but he refused to be comforted; and he said, For I will go down into the grave unto my son mourning. Thus his father wept for him. (Sheol )
and he saith, 'My son doth not go down with you, for his brother [is] dead, and he by himself is left; when mischief hath met him in the way in which ye go, then ye have brought down my grey hairs in sorrow to sheol.' (Sheol )
And he said, My son shall not go down with you; for his brother is dead, and he is left alone: if mischief befall him by the way in the which ye go, then shall ye bring down my gray hairs with sorrow to the grave. (Sheol )
when ye have taken also this from my presence, and mischief hath met him, then ye have brought down my grey hairs with evil to sheol. (Sheol )
And if ye take this also from me, and mischief befall him, ye shall bring down my gray hairs with sorrow to the grave. (Sheol )
then it hath come to pass when he seeth that the youth is not, that he hath died, and thy servants have brought down the grey hairs of thy servant our father with sorrow to sheol; (Sheol )
It shall come to pass, when he seeth that the lad is not with us, that he will die: and thy servants shall bring down the gray hairs of thy servant our father with sorrow to the grave. (Sheol )
and if a strange thing Jehovah do, and the ground hath opened her mouth and swallowed them, and all that they have, and they have gone down alive to Sheol — then ye have known that these men have despised Jehovah.' (Sheol )
But if Yhwh make a new thing, and the earth open her mouth, and swallow them up, with all that appertain unto them, and they go down quick into the pit; then ye shall understand that these men have provoked Yhwh. (Sheol )
and they go down, they, and all that they have, alive to Sheol, and the earth closeth over them, and they perish from the midst of the assembly; (Sheol )
They, and all that appertained to them, went down alive into the pit, and the earth closed upon them: and they perished from among the congregation. (Sheol )
For a fire hath been kindled in Mine anger, And it burneth unto Sheol — the lowest, And consumeth earth and its increase, And setteth on fire foundations of mountains. (Sheol )
For a fire is kindled in mine anger, and shall burn unto the lowest hell, and shall consume the earth with her increase, and set on fire the foundations of the mountains. (Sheol )
Jehovah putteth to death, and keepeth alive, He bringeth down to Sheol, and bringeth up. (Sheol )
Yhwh killeth, and maketh alive: he bringeth down to the grave, and bringeth up. (Sheol )
The cords of Sheol have surrounded me, Before me have been the snares of death. (Sheol )
The sorrows of hell compassed me about; the snares of death prevented me; (Sheol )
and thou hast done according to thy wisdom, and dost not let his old age go down in peace to Sheol. (Sheol )
Do therefore according to thy wisdom, and let not his hoar head go down to the grave in peace. (Sheol )
and now, acquit him not, for a wise man thou [art], and thou hast known that which thou dost to him, and hast brought down his old age with blood to Sheol.' (Sheol )
Now therefore hold him not guiltless: for thou art a wise man, and knowest what thou oughtest to do unto him; but his hoar head bring thou down to the grave with blood. (Sheol )
Consumed hath been a cloud, and it goeth, So he who is going down to Sheol cometh not up. (Sheol )
As the cloud is consumed and vanisheth away: so he that goeth down to the grave shall come up no more. (Sheol )
Heights of the heavens! — what dost thou? Deeper than Sheol! — what knowest thou? (Sheol )
It is as high as heaven; what canst thou do? deeper than hell; what canst thou know? (Sheol )
O that in Sheol Thou wouldest conceal me, Hide me till the turning of Thine anger, Set for me a limit, and remember me. (Sheol )
O that thou wouldest hide me in the grave, that thou wouldest keep me secret, until thy wrath be past, that thou wouldest appoint me a set time, and remember me! (Sheol )
If I wait — Sheol [is] my house, In darkness I have spread out my couch. (Sheol )
If I wait, the grave is mine house: I have made my bed in the darkness. (Sheol )
[To] the parts of Sheol ye go down, If together on the dust we may rest. (Sheol )
They shall go down to the bars of the pit, when our rest together is in the dust. (Sheol )
They wear out in good their days, And in a moment [to] Sheol go down. (Sheol )
They spend their days in wealth, and in a moment go down to the grave. (Sheol )
Drought — also heat — consume snow-waters, Sheol [those who] have sinned. (Sheol )
Drought and heat consume the snow waters: so doth the grave those which have sinned. (Sheol )
Naked [is] Sheol over-against Him, And there is no covering to destruction. (Sheol )
Hell is naked before him, and destruction hath no covering. (Sheol )
For there is not in death Thy memorial, In Sheol, who doth give thanks to Thee? (Sheol )
For in death there is no remembrance of thee: in the grave who shall give thee thanks? (Sheol )
The wicked do turn back to Sheol, All nations forgetting God. (Sheol )
The wicked shall be turned into hell, and all the nations that forget God. (Sheol )
For Thou dost not leave my soul to Sheol, Nor givest thy saintly one to see corruption. (Sheol )
For thou wilt not leave my soul in hell; neither wilt thou suffer thine Holy One to see corruption. (Sheol )
Cords of Sheol have surrounded me, Before me have been snares of death. (Sheol )

O Jehovah, let me not be ashamed, For I have called Thee, let the wicked be ashamed, Let them become silent to Sheol. (Sheol )
Let me not be ashamed, O Yhwh; for I have called upon thee: let the wicked be ashamed, and let them be silent in the grave. (Sheol )
As sheep for Sheol they have set themselves, Death doth afflict them, And the upright rule over them in the morning, And their form [is] for consumption. Sheol [is] a dwelling for him. (Sheol )
Like sheep they are laid in the grave; death shall feed on them; and the upright shall have dominion over them in the morning; and their beauty shall consume in the grave from their dwelling. (Sheol )
Only, God doth ransom my soul from the hand of Sheol, For He doth receive me. (Selah) (Sheol )
But God will redeem my soul from the power of the grave: for he shall receive me. (Selah) (Sheol )
Desolations [are] upon them, They go down [to] Sheol — alive, For wickedness [is] in their dwelling, in their midst. (Sheol )
Let death seize upon them, and let them go down quick into hell: for wickedness is in their dwellings, and among them. (Sheol )
For Thy kindness [is] great toward me, And Thou hast delivered my soul from the lowest Sheol. (Sheol )
For great is thy mercy toward me: and thou hast delivered my soul from the lowest hell. (Sheol )
For my soul hath been full of evils, And my life hath come to Sheol. (Sheol )
For my soul is full of troubles: and my life draweth nigh unto the grave. (Sheol )
Who [is] the man that liveth, and doth not see death? He delivereth his soul from the hand of Sheol. (Selah) (Sheol )
What man is he that liveth, and shall not see death? shall he deliver his soul from the hand of the grave? (Selah) (Sheol )
Compassed me have cords of death, And straits of Sheol have found me, Distress and sorrow I find. (Sheol )
The sorrows of death compassed me, and the pains of hell gat hold upon me: I found trouble and sorrow. (Sheol )
If I ascend the heavens — there Thou [art], And spread out a couch in Sheol, lo, Thee! (Sheol )
If I ascend up into heaven, thou art there: if I make my bed in hell, behold, thou art there. (Sheol )
As one tilling and ripping up in the land, Have our bones been scattered at the command of Saul. (Sheol )
Our bones are scattered at the grave’s mouth, as when one cutteth and cleaveth wood upon the earth. (Sheol )
We swallow them as Sheol — alive, And whole — as those going down [to] the pit, (Sheol )
Let us swallow them up alive as the grave; and whole, as those that go down into the pit: (Sheol )
Her feet are going down to death, Sheol do her steps take hold of. (Sheol )
Her feet go down to death; her steps take hold on hell. (Sheol )
The ways of Sheol — her house, Going down unto inner chambers of death! (Sheol )
Her house is the way to hell, going down to the chambers of death. (Sheol )
And he hath not known that Rephaim [are] there, In deep places of Sheol her invited ones! (Sheol )
But he knoweth not that the dead are there; and that her guests are in the depths of hell. (Sheol )
Sheol and destruction [are] before Jehovah, Surely also the hearts of the sons of men. (Sheol )
Hell and destruction are before Yhwh: how much more then the hearts of the children of men? (Sheol )
A path of life [is] on high for the wise, To turn aside from Sheol beneath. (Sheol )
The way of life is above to the wise, that he may depart from hell beneath. (Sheol )
Thou with a rod smitest him, And his soul from Sheol thou deliverest. (Sheol )
Thou shalt beat him with the rod, and shalt deliver his soul from hell. (Sheol )
Sheol and destruction are not satisfied, And the eyes of man are not satisfied. (Sheol )
Hell and destruction are never full; so the eyes of man are never satisfied. (Sheol )
Sheol, and a restrained womb, Earth — it [is] not satisfied [with] water, And fire — it hath not said, 'Sufficiency,' (Sheol )
The grave; and the barren womb; the earth that is not filled with water; and the fire that saith not, It is enough. (Sheol )
All that thy hand findeth to do, with thy power do, for there is no work, and device, and knowledge, and wisdom in Sheol whither thou art going. (Sheol )
Whatsoever thy hand findeth to do, do it with thy might; for there is no work, nor device, nor knowledge, nor wisdom, in the grave, whither thou goest. (Sheol )
Set me as a seal on thy heart, as a seal on thine arm, For strong as death is love, Sharp as Sheol is jealousy, Its burnings [are] burnings of fire, a flame of Jah! (Sheol )
Set me as a seal upon thine heart, as a seal upon thine arm: for love is strong as death; jealousy is cruel as the grave: the coals thereof are coals of fire, which hath a most vehement flame. (Sheol )
Therefore hath Sheol enlarged herself, And hath opened her mouth without limit. And gone down hath its honour, and its multitude, And its noise, and its exulting one — into her. (Sheol )
Therefore hell hath enlarged herself, and opened her mouth without measure: and their glory, and their multitude, and their pomp, and he that rejoiceth, shall descend into it. (Sheol )
'Ask for thee a sign from Jehovah thy God, Make deep the request, or make [it] high upwards.' (Sheol )
Ask thee a sign of Yhwh thy God; ask it either in the depth, or in the height above. (Sheol )
Sheol beneath hath been troubled at thee, To meet thy coming in, It is waking up for thee Rephaim, All chiefs ones of earth, It hath raised up from their thrones All kings of nations. (Sheol )
Hell from beneath is moved for thee to meet thee at thy coming: it stirreth up the dead for thee, even all the chief ones of the earth; it hath raised up from their thrones all the kings of the nations. (Sheol )
Brought down to Sheol hath been thine excellency, The noise of thy psaltery, Under thee spread out hath been the worm, Yea, covering thee is the worm. (Sheol )
Thy pomp is brought down to the grave, and the noise of thy viols: the worm is spread under thee, and the worms cover thee. (Sheol )
Only — unto Sheol thou art brought down, Unto the sides of the pit. (Sheol )
Yet thou shalt be brought down to hell, to the sides of the pit. (Sheol )
Because ye have said: 'We have made a covenant with death, And with Sheol we have made a provision, An overflowing scourge, when it passeth over, Doth not meet us, Though we have made a lie our refuge, And in falsehood have been hidden.' (Sheol )
Because ye have said, We have made a covenant with death, and with hell are we at agreement; when the overflowing scourge shall pass through, it shall not come unto us: for we have made lies our refuge, and under falsehood have we hid ourselves: (Sheol )
And disannulled hath been your covenant with death, And your provision with Sheol doth not stand, An overflowing scourge, when it passeth over, Then ye have been to it for a treading-place. (Sheol )
And your covenant with death shall be disannulled, and your agreement with hell shall not stand; when the overflowing scourge shall pass through, then ye shall be trodden down by it. (Sheol )
'I — I said in the cutting off of my days, I go in to the gates of Sheol, I have numbered the remnant of mine years. (Sheol )
I said in the cutting off of my days, I shall go to the gates of the grave: I am deprived of the residue of my years. (Sheol )
For Sheol doth not confess Thee, Death doth not praise Thee, Those going down to the pit hope not for Thy truth. (Sheol )
For the grave cannot praise thee, death can not celebrate thee: they that go down into the pit cannot hope for thy truth. (Sheol )
And goest joyfully to the king in ointment, And dost multiply thy perfumes, And sendest thine ambassadors afar off, And humblest thyself unto Sheol. (Sheol )
And thou wentest to the king with ointment, and didst increase thy perfumes, and didst send thy messengers far off, and didst debase thyself even unto hell. (Sheol )
Thus said the Lord Jehovah: In the day of his going down to sheol I have caused mourning, I have covered for him the deep, and diminish its flowings, And restrained are many waters, And I make Lebanon black for him, And all trees of the field have been covered for him. (Sheol )
Thus saith the Lord Yhwh; In the day when he went down to the grave I caused a mourning: I covered the deep for him, and I restrained the floods thereof, and the great waters were stayed: and I caused Lebanon to mourn for him, and all the trees of the field fainted for him. (Sheol )
From the sound of his fall I have caused nations to shake, In My causing him to go down to sheol, With those going down to the pit, And comforted in the earth — the lower part, are all trees of Eden, The choice and the good of Lebanon, All drinking waters. (Sheol )
I made the nations to shake at the sound of his fall, when I cast him down to hell with them that descend into the pit: and all the trees of Eden, the choice and best of Lebanon, all that drink water, shall be comforted in the nether parts of the earth. (Sheol )
Also they with him have gone down to sheol, Unto the pierced of the sword, And — his arm — they dwelt in his shade in the midst of nations. (Sheol )
They also went down into hell with him unto them that be slain with the sword; and they that were his arm, that dwelt under his shadow in the midst of the heathen. (Sheol )
Speak to him do the gods of the mighty out of the midst of sheol, With his helpers — they have gone down, They have lain with the uncircumcised, The pierced of the sword. (Sheol )
The strong among the mighty shall speak to him out of the midst of hell with them that help him: they are gone down, they lie uncircumcised, slain by the sword. (Sheol )
And they lie not with the mighty, Who are falling of the uncircumcised, Who have gone down to sheol with their weapons of war, And they put their swords under their heads, And their iniquities are on their bones, For the terror of the mighty [is] in the land of the living. (Sheol )
And they shall not lie with the mighty that are fallen of the uncircumcised, which are gone down to hell with their weapons of war: and they have laid their swords under their heads, but their iniquities shall be upon their bones, though they were the terror of the mighty in the land of the living. (Sheol )
From the hand of Sheol I do ransom them, From death I redeem them, Where [is] thy plague, O death? Where thy destruction, O Sheol? Repentance is hid from Mine eyes. (Sheol )
I will ransom them from the power of the grave; I will redeem them from death: O death, I will be thy plagues; O grave, I will be thy destruction: repentance shall be hid from mine eyes. (Sheol )
If they dig through into sheol, From thence doth My hand take them, And if they go up the heavens, From thence I cause them to come down. (Sheol )
Though they dig into hell, thence shall mine hand take them; though they climb up to heaven, thence will I bring them down: (Sheol )
And he saith: I called, because of my distress, to Jehovah, And He doth answer me, From the belly of sheol I have cried, Thou hast heard my voice. (Sheol )
And said, I cried by reason of mine affliction unto Yhwh, and he heard me; out of the belly of hell cried I, and thou heardest my voice. (Sheol )
And also, because the wine [is] treacherous, A man is haughty, and remaineth not at home, Who hath enlarged as sheol his soul, And is as death that is not satisfied, And doth gather unto itself all the nations, And doth assemble unto itself all the peoples, (Sheol )
Yea also, because he transgresseth by wine, he is a proud man, neither keepeth at home, who enlargeth his desire as hell, and is as death, and cannot be satisfied, but gathereth unto him all nations, and heapeth unto him all people: (Sheol )
but I — I say to you, that every one who is angry at his brother without cause, shall be in danger of the judgment, and whoever may say to his brother, Empty fellow! shall be in danger of the sanhedrim, and whoever may say, Rebel! shall be in danger of the gehenna of the fire. (Geenna )
But I say unto you, That whosoever is angry with his brother without a cause shall be in danger of the judgment: and whosoever shall say to his brother, Raca, shall be in danger of the council: but whosoever shall say, Thou fool, shall be in danger of hell fire. (Geenna )
'But, if thy right eye doth cause thee to stumble, pluck it out and cast from thee, for it is good to thee that one of thy members may perish, and not thy whole body be cast to gehenna. (Geenna )
And if thy right eye offend thee, pluck it out, and cast it from thee: for it is profitable for thee that one of thy members should perish, and not that thy whole body should be cast into hell. (Geenna )
'And, if thy right hand doth cause thee to stumble, cut it off, and cast from thee, for it is good to thee that one of thy members may perish, and not thy whole body be cast to gehenna. (Geenna )

'And be not afraid of those killing the body, and are not able to kill the soul, but fear rather Him who is able both soul and body to destroy in gehenna. (Geenna )
And fear not them which kill the body, but are not able to kill the soul: but rather fear him which is able to destroy both soul and body in hell. (Geenna )
'And thou, Capernaum, which unto the heaven wast exalted, unto hades shalt be brought down, because if in Sodom had been done the mighty works that were done in thee, it had remained unto this day; (Hadēs )
And thou, Capernaum, which art exalted unto heaven, shalt be brought down to hell: for if the mighty works, which have been done in thee, had been done in Sodom, it would have remained until this day. (Hadēs )
And whoever may speak a word against the Son of Man it shall be forgiven to him, but whoever may speak against the Holy Spirit, it shall not be forgiven him, neither in this age, nor in that which is coming. (aiōn )
And whosoever speaketh a word against the Son of man, it shall be forgiven him: but whosoever speaketh against the Holy Ghost, it shall not be forgiven him, neither in this world, neither in the world to come. (aiōn )
'And that sown toward the thorns, this is he who is hearing the word, and the anxiety of this age, and the deceitfulness of the riches, do choke the word, and it becometh unfruitful. (aiōn )
He also that received seed among the thorns is he that heareth the word; and the care of this world, and the deceitfulness of riches, choke the word, and he becometh unfruitful. (aiōn )
and the enemy who sowed them is the devil, and the harvest is a full end of the age, and the reapers are messengers. (aiōn )
The enemy that sowed them is the devil; the harvest is the end of the age; and the reapers are the angels. (aiōn )
'As, then, the darnel is gathered up, and is burned with fire, so shall it be in the full end of this age, (aiōn )
As therefore the tares are gathered and burned in the fire; so shall it be in the end of this age. (aiōn )
so shall it be in the full end of the age, the messengers shall come forth and separate the evil out of the midst of the righteous, (aiōn )
So shall it be at the end of the age: the angels shall come forth, and sever the wicked from among the just, (aiōn )
'And I also say to thee, that thou art a rock, and upon this rock I will build my assembly, and gates of Hades shall not prevail against it; (Hadēs )
And I say also unto thee, That thou art Peter, and upon this rock I will build my Assembly; and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it. (Hadēs )
'And if thy hand or thy foot doth cause thee to stumble, cut them off and cast from thee; it is good for thee to enter into the life lame or maimed, rather than having two hands or two feet, to be cast to the fire the age-during. (aiōnios )
Wherefore if thy hand or thy foot offend thee, cut them off, and cast them from thee: it is better for thee to enter into life halt or maimed, rather than having two hands or two feet to be cast into everlasting fire. (aiōnios )
'And if thine eye doth cause thee to stumble, pluck it out and cast from thee; it is good for thee one-eyed to enter into the life, rather than having two eyes to be cast to the gehenna of the fire. (Geenna )
And if thine eye offend thee, pluck it out, and cast it from thee: it is better for thee to enter into life with one eye, rather than having two eyes to be cast into hell fire. (Geenna )
And lo, one having come near, said to him, 'Good teacher, what good thing shall I do, that I may have life age-during?' (aiōnios )
And, behold, one came and said unto him, Good Master, what good thing shall I do, that I may have eternal life? (aiōnios )
and every one who left houses, or brothers, or sisters, or father, or mother, or wife, or children, or fields, for my name's sake, an hundredfold shall receive, and life age-during shall inherit; (aiōnios )
And every one that hath forsaken houses, or brethren, or sisters, or father, or mother, or wife, or children, or lands, for my name’s sake, shall receive an hundredfold, and shall inherit everlasting life. (aiōnios )
and having seen a certain fig-tree on the way, he came to it, and found nothing in it except leaves only, and he saith to it, 'No more from thee may fruit be — to the age;' and forthwith the fig-tree withered. (aiōn )
And when he saw a fig tree in the way, he came to it, and found nothing thereon, but leaves only, and said unto it, Let no fruit grow on thee henceforward for ever. And presently the fig tree withered away. (aiōn )
'Woe to you, Scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! because ye go round the sea and the dry land to make one proselyte, and whenever it may happen — ye make him a son of gehenna twofold more than yourselves. (Geenna )
Woe unto you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! for ye compass sea and land to make one proselyte, and when he is made, ye make him twofold more the child of hell than yourselves. (Geenna )
'Serpents! brood of vipers! how may ye escape from the judgment of the gehenna? (Geenna )
Ye serpents, ye generation of vipers, how can ye escape the damnation of hell? (Geenna )
And when he is sitting on the mount of the Olives, the disciples came near to him by himself, saying, 'Tell us, when shall these be? and what [is] the sign of thy presence, and of the full end of the age?' (aiōn )
And as he sat upon the mount of Olives, the disciples came unto him privately, saying, Tell us, when shall these things be? and what shall be the sign of thy coming, and of the end of the age? (aiōn )
Then shall he say also to those on the left hand, Go ye from me, the cursed, to the fire, the age-during, that hath been prepared for the Devil and his messengers; (aiōnios )
Then shall he say also unto them on the left hand, Depart from me, ye cursed, into everlasting fire, prepared for the devil and his angels: (aiōnios )
And these shall go away to punishment age-during, but the righteous to life age-during.' (aiōnios )
And these shall go away into everlasting punishment: but the righteous into life eternal. (aiōnios )
teaching them to observe all, whatever I did command you, ) and lo, I am with you all the days — till the full end of the age.' (aiōn )
Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you alway, even unto the end of the world. Amen. (aiōn )
but whoever may speak evil in regard to the Holy Spirit hath not forgiveness — to the age, but is in danger of age-during judgment;' (aiōn , aiōnios )
But he that shall blaspheme against the Holy Ghost hath never forgiveness, but is in danger of eternal damnation: (aiōn , aiōnios )
and the anxieties of this age, and the deceitfulness of the riches, and the desires concerning the other things, entering in, choke the word, and it becometh unfruitful. (aiōn )

'And if thy hand may cause thee to stumble, cut it off; it is better for thee maimed to enter into the life, than having the two hands, to go away to the gehenna, to the fire — the unquenchable — (Geenna )
And if thy hand offend thee, cut it off: it is better for thee to enter into life maimed, than having two hands to go into hell, into the fire that never shall be quenched: (Geenna )
'And if thy foot may cause thee to stumble, cut it off; it is better for thee to enter into the life lame, than having the two feet to be cast to the gehenna, to the fire — the unquenchable — (Geenna )
And if thy foot offend thee, cut it off: it is better for thee to enter halt into life, than having two feet to be cast into hell, into the fire that never shall be quenched: (Geenna )
And if thine eye may cause thee to stumble, cast it out; it is better for thee one-eyed to enter into the reign of God, than having two eyes, to be cast to the gehenna of the fire — (Geenna )
And if thine eye offend thee, pluck it out: it is better for thee to enter into the kingdom of God with one eye, than having two eyes to be cast into hell fire: (Geenna )
And as he is going forth into the way, one having run and having kneeled to him, was questioning him, 'Good teacher, what may I do, that life age-during I may inherit?' (aiōnios )
And when he was gone forth into the way, there came one running, and kneeled to him, and asked him, Good Master, what shall I do that I may inherit eternal life? (aiōnios )
who may not receive an hundredfold now in this time, houses, and brothers, and sisters, and mothers, and children, and fields, with persecutions, and in the age that is coming, life age-during; (aiōn , aiōnios )

and did swear in Him who doth live to the ages of the ages, who did create the heaven and the things in it, and the land and the things in it, and the sea and the things in it — that time shall not be yet, (aiōn )
And sware by him that liveth for ever and ever, who created heaven, and the things that therein are, and the earth, and the things that therein are, and the sea, and the things which are therein, that there should be time no longer: (aiōn )
'And when they may finish their testimony, the beast that is coming up out of the abyss shall make war with them, and overcome them, and kill them, (Abyssos )

And the seventh messenger did sound, and there came great voices in the heaven, saying, 'The kingdoms of the world did become [those] of our Lord and of His Christ, and he shall reign to the ages of the ages!' (aiōn )
