Esther 2

1 After these things, at the ceasing of the fury of the king Ahasuerus, he hath remembered Vashti, and that which she did, and that which hath been decreed concerning her;

அகாஸ்வேரு அரசனின் கோபம் தணிந்தபின்பு, அவன் வஸ்தியையும், அவள் செய்ததையும், அவளுக்குத் தான் பிறப்பித்த ஆணையையும் நினைவிற்கொண்டான்.

2 and servants of the king, his ministers, say, 'Let them seek for the king young women, virgins, of good appearance,

அப்பொழுது அரசனின் அந்தரங்க ஏவலாட்கள் கூறிய ஆலோசனையாவது: “அரசனுக்காக அழகிய இளம் கன்னிகைகளைக் தேடிப்பார்ப்போம்.

3 and the king doth appoint inspectors in all provinces of his kingdom, and they gather every young woman — virgin, of good appearance — unto Shushan the palace, unto the house of the women, unto the hand of Hege eunuch of the king, keeper of the women, and to give their purifications,

சூசானிலுள்ள கோட்டைப் பட்டணத்திலிருக்கும் அந்தப்புரத்திற்கு அந்த அழகிய இளம்பெண்களையெல்லாம் கொண்டுவரும்படி, அரசர் தம்முடைய ஆளுகைக்கு உட்பட்ட, எல்லா நாடுகளிலும் மேற்பார்வையாளர்களை நியமிப்பாராக. பெண்களுக்குப் பொறுப்பாயிருக்கிற, அரசனின் அதிகாரியான யேகாயின் பராமரிப்பின்கீழ் அப்பெண்கள் வைக்கப்படட்டும். அங்கு அவர்கள் அழகுபடுத்தப்படுவார்களாக.

4 and the young woman who is good in the eyes of the king doth reign instead of Vashti;' and the thing is good in the eyes of the king, and he doth so.

பின்பு அரசருக்குப் பிரியமாயிருக்கிற இளம்பெண், வஸ்திக்குப் பதிலாக அரசியாயிருக்கட்டும்” என்றார்கள். இந்த ஆலோசனை அரசனுக்குப் பிரியமாயிருந்ததால், அதை அவன் நடைமுறைப்படுத்தினான்.

5 A man, a Jew, there hath been in Shushan the palace, and his name [is] Mordecai son of Jair, son of Shimei, son of Kish, a Benjamite —

அக்காலத்தில் சூசான் கோட்டைப் பட்டணத்தில் பென்யமீன் கோத்திரத்தைச் சேர்ந்த, மொர்தெகாய் என்னும் பெயருடைய ஒரு யூதன் இருந்தான். இவன் யாவீரின் மகன், யாவீர் சீமேயின் மகன், சீமேயி கீசின் மகன்.

6 who had been removed from Jerusalem with the removal that was removed with Jeconiah king of Judah, whom Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon removed —

இந்த மொர்தெகாய், யூதா அரசன் எகொனியாவுடன், பாபிலோன் அரசன் நேபுகாத்நேச்சாரினால் எருசலேமிலிருந்து சிறைபிடிக்கப்பட்டவர்களோடுகூட நாடு கடத்தப்பட்டிருந்தவன்.

7 and he is supporting Hadassah — she [is] Esther — daughter of his uncle, for she hath neither father nor mother, and the young woman [is] of fair form, and of good appearance, and at the death of her father and her mother hath Mordecai taken her to him for a daughter.

மொர்தெகாய்க்கு அத்சாள் என்னும் பெயருடைய ஒன்றுவிட்ட சகோதரி ஒருத்தி இருந்தாள். அவளுக்கு தாய் தகப்பன் இல்லாததினால் அவளை இவன் வளர்த்தான். அவள் எஸ்தர் என்றும் அழைக்கப்பட்டாள். இந்தப் பெண் வடிவத்திலும், தோற்றத்திலும் மிகவும் அழகுள்ளவளாயிருந்தாள். அவளுடைய தகப்பனும் தாயும் இறந்தபோது, மொர்தெகாய் அவளைத் தன் சொந்த மகளாக எடுத்து வளர்த்தான்.

8 And it cometh to pass, in the word of the king, even his law, being heard, and in many young women being gathered unto Shushan the palace, unto the hand of Hegai, that Esther is taken unto the house of the king, unto the hand of Hegai, keeper of the women,

அரசனுடைய உத்தரவும் கட்டளையும் அறிவிக்கப்பட்டபோது, அநேக பெண்கள் சூசான் கோட்டைப் பட்டணத்திற்கு கொண்டுவரப்பட்டு யேகாயின் பராமரிப்பில் வைக்கப்பட்டார்கள். எஸ்தரும் அரசனின் அரண்மனைக்குக் அழைத்துச்செல்லப்பட்டு, அந்தப்புரத்திற்குப் பொறுப்பாயிருந்த யேகாயிடத்தில் கொடுக்கப்பட்டாள்.

9 and the young woman is good in his eyes, and she receiveth kindness before him, and he hasteneth her purifications and her portions — to give to her, and the seven young women who are provided — to give to her, from the house of the king, and he changeth her and her young women to a good [place in] the house of the women.

இந்தப் பெண் அவனுக்குப் பிரியமுள்ளவளாயிருந்து அவனிடத்தில் தயவு பெற்றாள். அவன் உடனடியாக அவளுக்கு அழகுபடுத்தும் பொருட்களையும், விசேஷ உணவையும் கொடுத்தான். அவன் அரசனுடைய அரண்மனையிலிருந்து தெரிந்தெடுக்கப்பட்ட ஏழு தோழிகளையும் அவளுக்குக் கொடுத்து, அவளையும், அவளது தோழிகளையும் அந்தப்புரத்தின் மிகச்சிறந்த இடத்துக்கு மாற்றினான்.

10 Esther hath not declared her people, and her kindred, for Mordecai hath laid a charge on her that she doth not declare [it];

எஸ்தர் தான் எந்த இனம் என்றோ, தனது குடும்ப விபரம் என்னவேன்றோ வெளிப்படுத்தவில்லை. ஏனெனில் மொர்தெகாய் அப்படிச் செய்யவேண்டாம் என்று அவளுக்குச் சொல்லியிருந்தான்.

11 and during every day Mordecai is walking up and down before the court of the house of the women to know the welfare of Esther, and what is done with her.

ஒவ்வொரு நாளும் மொர்தெகாய் எஸ்தர் எப்படியிருக்கிறாள் என்றும், அவளுக்கு என்ன நடக்கிறது என்றும் அறிவதற்கு அந்தப்புரத்தின் முற்றத்தின் அருகே, அங்கும் இங்கும் நடந்துகொண்டிருந்தான்.

12 And in the drawing nigh of the turn of each young woman to come in unto the king Ahasuerus, at the end of there being to her — according to the law of the women — twelve months, for so they fulfil the days of their purifications; six months with oil of myrrh, and six months with spices, and with the purifications of women,

அரசன் அகாஸ்வேருவினிடம் ஒரு பெண் போவதற்கான தன்னுடைய முறை வருவதற்குமுன், அவள் பெண்களுக்காக நியமிக்கப்பட்டிருந்தபடி, பன்னிரண்டு மாத காலம் தன்னை அழகுபடுத்திக் கொள்ளவேண்டும். ஆறு மாதங்களுக்கு வெள்ளைப்போள எண்ணெயாலும், மற்ற ஆறு மாதங்களுக்கு வாசனைத் தைலத்தினாலும், அழகுசாதனப் பொருட்களினாலும் தன்னை அழகுபடுத்த வேண்டும்.

13 and with this the young woman hath come in unto the king, all that she saith is given to her, to go in with her, out of the house of the women, unto the house of the king;

அவள் அரசனிடம் போகவேண்டியது எப்படியெனில், அவள் அந்தப்புரத்திலிருந்து அரசனுடைய அரண்மனைக்கு தான் எடுத்துச்செல்ல விரும்பிய எதுவும் அவளுக்குக் கொடுக்கப்படும்.

14 in the evening she hath gone in, and in the morning she hath turned back unto the second house of the women, unto the hand of Shaashgaz eunuch of the king, keeper of the concubines; she cometh not in any more unto the king except the king hath delighted in her, and she hath been called by name.

மாலையில் அவள் அரசனிடம் போய், மறுநாள் காலையில், அந்தப்புரத்தின் இன்னொரு பகுதியில் மறுமனையாட்டிகளுக்குப் பொறுப்பாயிருந்த அரசனுடைய அதிகாரியான சாஸ்காசின் பராமரிப்பில் விடப்படுவாள். ஒருத்தியின்மேல் அரசன் பிரியப்பட்டு அவளைப் பெயர்சொல்லி அழைத்தால் அன்றி, அவள் திரும்பவும் அரசனிடம் போகமுடியாது.

15 And in the drawing nigh of the turn of Esther — daughter of Abihail, uncle of Mordecai, whom he had taken to him for a daughter — to come in unto the king, she hath not sought a thing except that which Hegai eunuch of the king, keeper of the women, saith, and Esther is receiving grace in the eyes of all seeing her.

மொர்தெகாயின் வளர்ப்பு மகளும், அவனுடைய சிறிய தகப்பன் அபிகாயிலின் மகளுமான எஸ்தர், அரசனிடம் போவதற்கான முறை வந்தபோது, அந்தப்புரத்திற்குப் பொறுப்பாயிருந்த அரசனின் அதிகாரியான யேகாய் கொண்டுபோகும்படி சொன்னதைத்தவிர, அவள் வேறு எதையும் கேட்கவில்லை. எஸ்தர் தன்னைக் கண்ட எல்லோரிடமிருந்தும் தயவைப் பெற்றாள்.

16 And Esther is taken unto the king Ahasuerus, unto his royal house, in the tenth month — it [is] the month of Tebeth — in the seventh year of his reign,

அரசன் அகாஸ்வேருவின் ஆட்சியின் ஏழாம் வருடத்தில் பத்தாவது மாதமாகிய தேபேத் மாதத்தில் அவள் அரசர் குடியிருக்கும் பகுதிக்கு அரசனிடத்தில் அழைத்துச் செல்லப்பட்டாள்.

17 and the king loveth Esther above all the women, and she receiveth grace and kindness before him above all the virgins, and he setteth a royal crown on her head, and causeth her to reign instead of Vashti,

அரசன் மற்ற எந்தப் பெண்ணையும் விட, எஸ்தரினால் அதிகமாய் கவரப்பட்டான். அவள் அவனிடமிருந்து மற்ற கன்னிகைகளையும்விட, அதிக தயவையும், பாராட்டையும் பெற்றாள். எனவே அவன் அரச கிரீடத்தை அவள் தலையில் வைத்து வஸ்திக்குப் பதிலாக அவளை அரசியாக்கினான்.

18 and the king maketh a great banquet to all his heads and his servants — the banquet of Esther — and a release to the provinces hath made, and giveth gifts as a memorial of the king.

அரசன் எஸ்தருக்கான விருந்தாக, ஒரு பெரிய விருந்தை எல்லா உயர்குடி மனிதருக்கும், அதிகாரிகளுக்கும் கொடுத்தான். அவன் மாகாணங்கள் எங்கும் ஒரு விடுமுறை நாளை அறிவித்து, அரசனுடைய நிறைவின்படியே அன்பளிப்புகளை வழங்கினான்.

19 And in the virgins being gathered a second time, then Mordecai is sitting in the gate of the king;

கன்னிப்பெண்கள் இரண்டாவது முறையாக கூடுகிறபோது, மொர்தெகாய் அரச வாசலில் உட்கார்ந்திருந்தான்.

20 Esther is not declaring her kindred and her people, as Mordecai hath laid a charge upon her, and the saying of Mordecai Esther is doing as when she was truly with him.

மொர்தெகாய் தனக்குச் சொன்னபடியே எஸ்தர் தனது குடும்ப விபரத்தையும், தான் எந்த நாட்டைச் சேர்ந்தவள் என்பதையும் இரகசியமாய் வைத்திருந்தாள். ஏனெனில், மொர்தெகாய் தன்னை வளர்க்கிறபோது செய்தபடியே அவள் அவனுடைய அறிவுறுத்தல்களைக் கைக்கொண்டாள்.

21 In those days, when Mordecai is sitting in the gate of the king, hath Bigthan been wroth, and Teresh, (two of the eunuchs of the king, the keepers of the threshold, ) and they seek to put forth a hand on king Ahasuerus,

மொர்தெகாய், அரசனுடைய வாசலில் இருக்கும் நாட்களில், வாசலைக் காவல்காக்கும் அரசனின் இரு அதிகாரிகளான பிக்தானும், தேரேசும் அரசன் அகாஸ்வேருவுடன் கோபமடைந்து, அவனைக் கொலைசெய்யச் சதி செய்தார்கள்.

22 and the thing is known to Mordecai, and he declareth [it] to Esther the queen, and Esther speaketh to the king in the name of Mordecai,

ஆனால் மொர்தெகாய் இந்த சதியைப்பற்றி அறிந்து அரசி எஸ்தருக்குச் சொன்னான். அவள் அதை மொர்தெகாய் சொன்னதாகக் குறிப்பிட்டு, அரசனுக்கு அறிவித்தாள்.

23 and the thing is sought out, and found, and they are hanged both of them on a tree, and it is written in the book of the Chronicles before the king.

அந்த அறிக்கை விசாரணை செய்யப்பட்டு, உண்மையெனக் கண்டுபிடிக்கப்பட்ட போது, அந்த இரண்டு அதிகாரிகளும் தூக்கிலிடப்பட்டார்கள். இவை எல்லாம் அரசனின் முன்னிலையில் வரலாற்றுப் புத்தகத்தில் பதிவு செய்யப்பட்டன.
