Zephaniah 1
1 The word of the Lord, that was maad to Sofonye, sone of Chusi, sone of Godolie, sone of Amasie, sone of Ezechie, in the daies of Josie, the sone of Amon, king of Juda.
La parola del Signore, che fu [indirizzata] a Sofonia, figliuolo di Cusi, figliuolo di Ghedalia, figliuolo di Amaria, figliuolo di Ezechia, a' dì di Giosia, figliuolo di Amon, re di Giuda.
2 Y gaderinge schal gadere alle thingis fro the face of erthe, seith the Lord;
IO farò del tutto perire ogni cosa d'in su la faccia della terra, dice il Signore.
3 Y gaderynge man and beeste, Y gaderynge volatils of heuene, and fischis of the see; and fallyngis of vnpitouse men schulen be, and Y schal leese men fro face of erthe, seith the Lord.
Io farò perir gli uomini, e gli animali; io farò perir gli uccelli del cielo, e i pesci del mare; e gl'intoppi, insieme con gli empi; e sterminerò gli uomini d'in su la faccia della terra, dice il Signore.
4 And Y schal stretche out myn hond on Juda, and on alle dwellers of Jerusalem; and Y schal lese fro this place the relifs of Baal, and the names of keperis of housis, with prestis;
E stenderò la mia mano sopra Giuda, e sopra tutti gli abitanti di Gerusalemme; e sterminerò di questo luogo il rimanente de' Baali, il nome de' Camari, insieme co' sacerdoti.
5 and hem that worschipen on roouys the knyythod of heuene, and worschipen, and sweren in the Lord, and sweren in Melchon;
E quelli parimente che adorano l'esercito del cielo sopra i tetti; e quelli ancora che adorano il Signore, e gli giurano; e quelli che giurano per Malcam;
6 and whiche ben turned awei bihynde the bak of the Lord, and whiche `souyten not the Lord, nether enserchiden hym.
e quelli che si ritraggono indietro dal Signore, e quelli che non cercano il Signore, e non lo richieggono.
7 Be ye stille fro the face of the Lord God, for niy is the dai of the Lord; for the Lord made redi a sacrifice, halewide hise clepid men.
Silenzio, per la presenza del Signore Iddio! conciossiachè il giorno del Signore [sia] vicino; perciocchè il Signore ha apparecchiato un sacrificio, egli ha ordinati i suoi convitati.
8 And it schal be, in the dai of sacrifice of the Lord, Y schal visite on princes, and on sones of the kyng, and on alle that ben clothid with pilgrimys, ether straunge, clothing.
Ed avverrà, nel giorno del sacrificio del Signore, che io farò punizione de' principi, e de' figliuoli del re, e di tutti quelli che si vestono di vestimenti strani.
9 And Y schal visite on ech that proudli entrith on the threisfold in that dai, whiche fillen the hous of her Lord God with wickidnesse and gile.
In quel giorno ancora farò punizione di tutti coloro che saltano sopra la soglia; che riempiono le case de' lor signori di rapina, e di frode.
10 And ther schal be in that dai, seith the Lord, a vois of cry fro the yate of fischis, and yellynge fro the secounde yate, and greet defoulyng fro litle hillis.
E in quel giorno, dice il Signore, vi sarà una voce di grido verso la porta de' pesci, ed un urlo verso la seconda [porta], ed un gran fracasso verso i colli.
11 Yelle ye, dwelleris of Pila; al the puple of Canaan was stille togidere, alle men wlappid in siluer perischiden.
Urlate, abitanti del Mortaio; perciocchè tutto il popolo de' mercatanti è perito, tutti i portatori di danari sono sterminati.
12 And it schal be, in that tyme Y schal seke Jerusalem with lanternes, and Y schal visite on alle men piyt in her darstis, whiche seien in her hertis, The Lord schal not do wel, and he schal not do yuele.
Ed avverrà in quel tempo, che io investigherò Gerusalemme con delle lucerne, e farò punizione degli uomini che si sono rappresi sopra le lor fecce; che dicono nel cuor loro: Il Signore non fa nè bene nè male.
13 And the strengthe of hem schal be in to rauyschyng, and the housis of hem in to desert; and thei schulen bilde housis, and schulen not enhabite; and thei schulen plaunte vyneyerdis, and thei schulen not drynke the wyn of hem.
E le lor facoltà saranno in preda, e le lor case in desolazione; ed avranno edificate delle case, e non [vi] abiteranno; e piantate delle vigne, e non ne berranno il vino.
14 Nyy is the greet dai of the Lord, niy and swift ful myche; the vois of the dai of the Lord is bittir, a strong man schal be in tribulacioun there.
Il gran giorno del Signore [è] vicino; egli [è] vicino, e si affretta molto; la voce del giorno del Signore [sarà] di [persone] che grideranno amaramente.
15 `The ilke dai is a dai of wraththe, dai of tribulacioun and angwisch, dai of nedynesse and wretchidnesse, dai of derknessis and myist, dai of cloude and whirlewynd,
I capitani [sono già] là. Quel giorno [sarà] giorno d'indegnazione; giorno di distretta, e d'angoscia; giorno di tumulto, e di fracasso; giorno di tenebre, e di caligine; giorno di nebbia, e di folta oscurità;
16 dai of trumpe and noise on strong citees and on hiye corneris.
giorno di tromba, e di stormo, sopra le città forti, e sopra gli alti cantoni.
17 And Y schal troble men, and thei schulen walke as blynde, for thei han synned ayens the Lord; and the blood of hem schal be sched out as erthe, and the bodies of hem schulen be as tordis.
Ed io metterò gli uomini in distretta, e cammineranno come ciechi; perciocchè han peccato contro al Signore; e il lor sangue sarà sparso come polvere, e la lor carne come sterchi.
18 But and the siluer of hem, and gold of hem, schal not mowe delyuere hem in the dai of wraththe of the Lord; in fier of his feruour al erthe schal be deuourid, for he schal make ende with haastyng to alle men enhabitynge the erthe.
Nè il loro argento, nè il loro oro, non li potrà scampare nel giorno dell'indegnazione del Signore; e tutto il paese sarà consumato per lo fuoco della sua gelosia; perciocchè egli farà una finale, ed anche affrettata distruzione di tutti gli abitanti del paese.
