Luke 1
1 Forsothe for manye men enforceden to ordeyne the tellyng of thingis, whiche ben fillid in vs,
Întrucât mulți s-au angajat să pună în ordine o istorisire despre acele lucruri care sunt pe deplin crezute printre noi,
2 as thei that seyn atte the bigynnyng, and weren ministris of the word,
Chiar așa cum ni le-au încredințat cei care au fost de la început martori oculari și servitori ai cuvântului,
3 bitaken, it is seen also to me, hauynge alle thingis diligentli bi ordre, to write to thee,
Mi s-a părut bine și mie, înțelegând toate cu acuratețe de la început, să ți le scriu în ordine, preaalesule Teofil,
4 thou best Theofile, that thou knowe the treuthe of tho wordis, of whiche thou art lerned.
Ca să cunoști certitudinea lucrurilor în care ai fost învățat.
5 In the daies of Eroude, kyng of Judee, ther was a prest, Sakarie bi name, of the sorte of Abia, and his wijf was of the douytris of Aaron, and hir name was Elizabeth.
A fost în zilele lui Irod, împăratul Iudeii, un anumit preot numit Zaharia, din rândul lui Abia; și soția lui era dintre fiicele lui Aaron, și numele ei era Elisabeta.
6 And bothe weren iust bifor God, goynge in alle the maundementis and iustifiyngis of the Lord, withouten pleynt.
Și amândoi erau drepți înaintea lui Dumnezeu, umblând ireproșabil în toate poruncile și rânduielile Domnului.
7 And thei hadden no child, for Elizabeth was bareyn, and bothe weren of grete age in her daies.
Și ei nu aveau copil, pentru că Elisabeta era stearpă; și amândoi erau mult înaintați în vârstă.
8 And it bifel, that whanne Zacarie schulde do the office of preesthod, in the ordre of his cours tofor God,
Dar s-a întâmplat, pe când el împlinea serviciul de preot înaintea lui Dumnezeu, la rândul grupului său,
9 aftir the custome of the preesthod, he wente forth bi lot, and entride in to the temple, to encense.
Conform obiceiului serviciului preoțesc, i-a venit rândul să ardă tămâie când intra în templul Domnului.
10 And al the multitude of the puple was with outforth, and preiede in the our of encensyng.
Și toată mulțimea poporului se ruga afară în timpul tămâierii.
11 And an aungel of the Lord apperide to hym, and stood on the riythalf of the auter of encense.
Și i s-a arătat un înger al Domnului, stând în picioare la dreapta altarului tămâierii.
12 And Zacarie seynge was afraied, and drede fel vpon hym.
Și când Zaharia l-a văzut, s-a tulburat și frică a căzut peste el.
13 And the aungel seide to hym, Zacarie, drede thou not; for thi preyer is herd, and Elizabeth, thi wijf, schal bere to thee a sone, and his name schal be clepid Joon.
Dar îngerul i-a spus: Nu te teme Zaharia; fiindcă rugăciunea ta este ascultată; și soția ta Elisabeta îți va naște un fiu și îi vei pune numele Ioan.
14 And ioye and gladyng schal be to thee; and many schulen `haue ioye in his natyuyte.
Și tu vei avea bucurie și veselie; și mulți se vor bucura la nașterea lui.
15 For he schal be greet bifor the Lord, and he schal not drynke wyn and sidir, and he schal be fulfillid with the Hooli Goost yit of his modir wombe.
Fiindcă va fi mare înaintea Domnului și nicidecum nu va bea nici vin, nici băutură tare; și va fi umplut cu Duhul Sfânt, chiar din pântecele mamei sale.
16 And he schal conuerte many of the children of Israel to her Lord God;
Și pe mulți dintre copiii lui Israel îi va întoarce la Domnul Dumnezeul lor.
17 and he schal go bifor hym in the spirit and the vertu of Helie; and he schal turne the hertis of the fadris in to the sones, and men out of bileue to the prudence of iust men, to make redi a perfit puple to the Lord.
Și el va merge înaintea lui, în duhul și puterea lui Ilie, să întoarcă inimile părinților la copii și pe cei neascultători la înțelepciunea celor drepți; să pregătească un popor înzestrat pentru Domnul.
18 And Zacarie seide to the aungel, Wherof schal Y wite this? for Y am eld, and my wijf hath gon fer in to hir daies.
Și Zaharia i-a spus îngerului: Prin ce voi ști aceasta? Fiindcă eu sunt bătrân și soția mea este mult înaintată în anii ei.
19 And the aungel answeride, and seide to hym, For Y am Gabriel, that stonde niy bifor God; and Y am sent to thee to speke, and to euangelize to thee these thingis.
Și îngerul, răspunzând, i-a zis: Eu sunt Gabriel, care stau în picioare în prezența lui Dumnezeu; și sunt trimis să vorbesc cu tine și să îți anunț aceste vești îmbucurătoare.
20 And lo! thou schalt be doumbe, and thou schalt not mow speke til in to the dai, in which these thingis schulen be don; for thou hast not bileued to my wordis, whiche schulen be fulfillid in her tyme.
Și iată, vei fi mut și nu vei fi în stare să vorbești, până în ziua când se vor face acestea, pentru că nu crezi cuvintele mele, care vor fi împlinite la timpul lor.
21 And the puple was abidynge Zacarie, and thei wondriden, that he tariede in the temple.
Și poporul îl aștepta pe Zaharia și se mira că el întârzia atât în templu.
22 And he yede out, and myyte not speke to hem, and thei knewen that he hadde seyn a visioun in the temple. And he bikenyde to hem, and he dwellide stille doumbe.
Și când a ieșit nu a putut să vorbească cu ei; și au priceput că văzuse o viziune în templu; fiindcă el le făcea semne și a rămas fără cuvinte.
23 And it was don, whanne the daies of his office weren fulfillid, he wente in to his hous.
Și s-a întâmplat că, imediat ce s-au împlinit zilele serviciului său, s-a dus acasă.
24 And aftir these daies Elizabeth, his wijf, conseyuede, and hidde hir fyue monethis, and seide,
Iar după zilele acelea Elisabeta, soția lui, a rămas însărcinată și s-a ascuns cinci luni, spunând:
25 For so the Lord dide to me in the daies, in whiche he bihelde, to take awei my repreef among men.
Astfel s-a purtat cu mine Domnul în zilele în care s-a uitat spre mine, ca să îmi ia ocara dintre oameni.
26 But in the sixte moneth the aungel Gabriel was sent fro God in to a citee of Galilee, whos name was Nazareth,
Iar în luna a șasea, îngerul Gabriel a fost trimis de Dumnezeu într-o cetate din Galileea, numită Nazaret,
27 to a maidyn, weddid to a man, whos name was Joseph, of the hous of Dauid; and the name of the maidun was Marie.
La o fecioară logodită cu un bărbat al cărui nume era Iosif, din casa lui David; și numele fecioarei era Maria.
28 And the aungel entride to hir, and seide, Heil, ful of grace; the Lord be with thee; blessid be thou among wymmen.
Și îngerul a intrat la ea și a spus: Bucură-te, cea privilegiată: Domnul este cu tine; binecuvântată ești tu între femei.
29 And whanne sche hadde herd, sche was troublid in his word, and thouyte what maner salutacioun this was.
Iar când l-a văzut, ea a fost tulburată de cuvintele lui și cugeta ce fel de salutare ar fi aceasta.
30 And the aungel seide to hir, Ne drede thou not, Marie, for thou hast foundun grace anentis God.
Și îngerul i-a spus: Nu te teme, Maria; fiindcă ai găsit favoare la Dumnezeu.
31 Lo! thou schalt conceyue in wombe, and schalt bere a sone, and thou schalt clepe his name Jhesus.
Și iată, vei rămâne însărcinată în pântecele tău și vei naște un fiu și îi vei pune numele Isus.
32 This schal be greet, and he schal be clepid the sone of the Hiyeste; and the Lord God schal yeue to hym the seete of Dauid, his fadir,
El va fi mare și va fi chemat Fiul Celui Preaînalt; și Domnul Dumnezeu îi va da tronul tatălui său David.
33 and he schal regne in the hous of Jacob with outen ende, and of his rewme schal be noon ende. (aiōn g165)
Și va domni peste casa lui Iacob pentru totdeauna; și cât despre împărăția lui, ea nu va avea sfârșit. (aiōn g165)
34 And Marie seide to the aungel, On what maner schal this thing be doon, for Y knowe not man?
Atunci Maria i-a spus îngerului: Cum va fi aceasta, fiindcă eu nu știu de bărbat?
35 And the aungel answeride, and seide to hir, The Hooly Goost schal come fro aboue in to thee, and the vertu of the Hiyeste schal ouerschadewe thee; and therfor that hooli thing that schal be borun of thee, schal be clepid the sone of God.
Și îngerul a răspuns și i-a zis: Duhul Sfânt va veni peste tine și puterea Celui Preaînalt te va umbri; de aceea și cel sfânt care se va naște din tine, va fi chemat Fiul lui Dumnezeu.
36 And lo! Elizabeth, thi cosyn, and sche also hath conceyued a sone in hir eelde, and this moneth is the sixte to hir that is clepid bareyn;
Și iată, Elisabeta, ruda ta, a rămas și ea însărcinată cu un fiu la bătrânețea ei; și aceasta este a șasea lună pentru ea, care era numită stearpă.
37 for euery word schal not be inpossible anentis God.
Căci la Dumnezeu nimic nu va fi imposibil.
38 And Marie seide, Lo! the handmaydyn of the Lord; be it don to me aftir thi word. And the aungel departide fro hir.
Iar Maria a spus: Iată, roaba Domnului; fie-mi după cuvântul tău. Și îngerul a plecat de la ea.
39 And Marie roos vp in tho daies, and wente with haaste in to the mounteyns, in to a citee of Judee.
Iar Maria s-a sculat în acele zile și a plecat cu grabă în ținutul muntos, într-o cetate a lui Iuda.
40 And sche entride in to the hous of Zacarie, and grette Elizabeth.
Și a intrat în casa lui Zaharia și a salutat-o pe Elisabeta.
41 And it was don, as Elizabeth herde the salutacioun of Marie, the yong child in hir wombe gladide. And Elizabeth was fulfillid with the Hooli Goost,
Și s-a întâmplat că, de cum a auzit Elisabeta salutul Mariei, pruncul a săltat în pântecele ei; și Elisabeta a fost umplută cu Duhul Sfânt;
42 and criede with a greet vois, and seide, Blessid be thou among wymmen, and blessid be the fruyt of thi wombe.
Și a vorbit cu voce tare și a spus: Binecuvântată ești tu între femei și binecuvântat este rodul pântecelui tău.
43 And whereof is this thing to me, that the modir of my Lord come to me?
Și de unde îmi este aceasta, ca mama Domnului meu să vină la mine?
44 For lo! as the voice of thi salutacioun was maad in myn eeris, the yong child gladide in ioye in my wombe.
Căci iată, de cum a ajuns sunetul salutului tău la urechile mele, pruncul a săltat în pântecele meu de bucurie.
45 And blessid be thou, that hast bileued, for thilke thingis that ben seid of the Lord to thee, schulen be parfitli don.
Și binecuvântată este cea care a crezut, pentru că va fi o împlinire a lucrurilor care i-au fost spuse din partea Domnului.
46 And Marie seide, Mi soule magnyfieth the Lord,
Și Maria a spus: Sufletul meu preamărește pe Domnul,
47 and my spirit hath gladid in God, myn helthe.
Și duhul meu s-a bucurat în Dumnezeu, Salvatorul meu.
48 For he hath biholdun the mekenesse of his handmaidun.
Pentru că a privit spre starea înjosită a roabei sale; căci, iată, de acum încolo, toate generațiile mă vor numi binecuvântată,
49 For lo! of this alle generaciouns schulen seie that Y am blessid. For he that is myyti hath don to me grete thingis, and his name is hooli.
Pentru că cel puternic mi-a făcut lucruri mari; și sfânt este numele lui.
50 And his mercy is fro kynrede in to kynredes, to men that dreden hym.
Și mila lui este peste cei ce se tem de el din generație în generație.
51 He made myyt in his arme, he scaterede proude men with the thouyte of his herte.
A arătat putere cu brațul lui; a risipit pe cei mândri în imaginația inimii lor.
52 He sette doun myyti men fro sete, and enhaunside meke men.
A doborât pe cei puternici de pe tronuri și a înălțat pe cei de rând.
53 He hath fulfillid hungri men with goodis, and he hath left riche men voide.
A săturat pe cei flămânzi cu bunătăți; și pe cei bogați i-a trimis fără nimic.
54 He, hauynge mynde of his mercy, took Israel, his child;
A ajutat pe servitorul său Israel, în amintirea milei sale;
După cum le-a vorbit părinților noștri, lui Avraam și seminței sale pentru totdeauna. (aiōn g165)
56 And Marie dwellide with hir, as it were thre monethis, and turnede ayen in to hir hous.
Și Maria a rămas cu ea cam trei luni; și s-a întors acasă.
57 But the tyme of beryng child was fulfillid to Elizabeth, and sche bare a sone.
Iar Elisabetei i s-a împlinit timpul să nască; și a născut un fiu.
58 And the neiyboris and cosyns of hir herden, that the Lord hadde magnyfied his mercy with hir; and thei thankiden hym.
Și vecinii și rudele ei au auzit că Domnul a arătat mare milă față de ea; și se bucurau cu ea.
59 And it was don in the eiyte dai, thei camen to circumcide the child; and thei clepiden hym Zacarie, bi the name of his fadir.
Și s-a întâmplat în a opta zi că au venit să circumcidă copilul; și l-au numit Zaharia, după numele tatălui său.
60 And his moder answeride, and seide, Nay, but he schal be clepid Joon.
Și mama lui a răspuns și a zis: Nu, ci se va numi Ioan.
61 And thei seiden to hir, For no man is in thi kynrede, that is clepid this name.
Și i-au spus: Nimeni din rudeniile tale nu este numit așa.
62 And thei bikeneden to his fadir, what he wolde that he were clepid.
Și făceau semne tatălui său, [despre] cum ar voi să îl numească.
63 And he axynge a poyntil, wroot, seiynge, Joon is his name.
Și a cerut o tăbliță de scris și a scris, spunând: Numele lui este Ioan. Și toți s-au minunat.
64 And alle men wondriden. And anoon his mouth was openyd, and his tunge, and he spak, and blesside God.
Și gura lui a fost deschisă imediat și limba lui dezlegată și a vorbit, lăudând pe Dumnezeu.
65 And drede was maad on alle her neiyboris, and alle these wordis weren pupplischid on alle the mounteyns of Judee.
Și frică a venit peste toți cei ce locuiau împrejurul lor; și toate aceste cuvinte au fost vestite prin tot ținutul muntos al Iudeii.
66 And alle men that herden puttiden in her herte, and seiden, What maner child schal this be? For the hoond of the Lord was with hym.
Și toți cei ce le-au auzit, le-au păstrat în inimile lor, spunând: Ce fel de copil va fi acesta? Și mâna Domnului era cu el.
67 And Zacarie, his fadir, was fulfillid with the Hooli Goost, and prophesiede,
Și Zaharia, tatăl lui, a fost umplut cu Duhul Sfânt și a profețit, spunând:
68 and seide, Blessid be the Lord God of Israel, for he hath visitid, and maad redempcioun of his puple.
Binecuvântat fie Domnul Dumnezeul lui Israel, pentru că a vizitat și a răscumpărat pe poporul său,
69 And he hath rerid to vs an horn of heelthe in the hous of Dauid, his child.
Și ne-a ridicat un corn al salvării în casa servitorului său, David,
Așa cum vorbise prin gura sfinților săi profeți, care fuseseră de când lumea a început; (aiōn g165)
71 Helthe fro oure enemyes, and fro the hoond of alle men that hatiden vs.
Ca să fim salvați de dușmanii noștri și din mâna tuturor celor ce ne urăsc;
72 To do merci with oure fadris, and to haue mynde of his hooli testament.
Să înfăptuiască mila promisă părinților noștri și să își amintească sfântul lui legământ;
73 The greet ooth that he swoor to Abraham, oure fadir, to yyue hym silf to vs.
Jurământul pe care i l-a jurat tatălui nostru Avraam,
74 That we with out drede delyuered fro the hoond of oure enemyes,
Că ne va da, fiind noi scăpați din mâna dușmanilor noștri, să îi servim fără frică,
75 serue to hym, in hoolynesse and riytwisnesse bifor hym in alle oure daies.
În sfințenie și dreptate înaintea lui, toate zilele vieții noastre.
76 And thou, child, schalt be clepid the prophete of the Hiyest; for thou schalt go bifor the face of the Lord, to make redi hise weies.
Și tu copile, vei fi chemat profet al celui Preaînalt; fiindcă vei merge înaintea feței Domnului, să pregătești căile lui;
77 To yyue scyence of helthe to his puple, in to remyssioun of her synnes;
Să dai cunoștința salvării poporului său, prin iertarea păcatelor lor,
78 bi the inwardnesse of the merci of oure God, in the whiche he spryngynge vp fro an hiy hath visitid vs.
Prin blânda milă a Dumnezeului nostru; prin care răsăritul din înalt ne-a vizitat,
79 To yyue liyt to hem that sitten in derknessis and in schadewe of deeth; to dresse oure feet in to the weie of pees.
Să dea lumină celor ce șed în întuneric și în umbra morții, să ne îndrepte picioarele pe calea păcii.
80 And the child wexide, and was coumfortid in spirit, and was in desert placis `til to the dai of his schewing to Israel.
Iar copilul a crescut și s-a întărit în duh și a fost în pustiuri până în ziua arătării sale înaintea lui Israel.
