Jonah 2
1 And Jonas preiede to the Lord his God fro the fischis wombe,
E Giona pregò l’Eterno, il suo Dio, nel ventre del pesce, e disse:
2 and seide, Y criede to God of my tribulacioun, and he herde me; fro the wombe of helle Y criede, and thou herdist my vois. (Sheol h7585)
Io ho gridato all’Eterno dal fondo della mia distretta, ed egli m’ha risposto; dalle viscere del soggiorno dei morti ho gridato, e tu hai udito la mia voce. (Sheol h7585)
3 Thou castidist me doun in to depnesse, in the herte of the see, and the flood cumpasside me; alle thi swolowis and thi wawis passiden on me.
Tu m’hai gettato nell’abisso, nel cuore del mare; la corrente mi ha circondato e tutte le tue onde e tutti i tuoi flutti mi son passati sopra.
4 And Y seide, Y am cast awei fro siyt of thin iyen; netheles eftsoone Y schal see thin hooli temple.
E io dicevo: Io son cacciato via lungi dal tuo sguardo! Come vedrei io ancora il tuo tempio santo?
5 Watris cumpassiden me `til to my soule, depnesse enuyrownede me, the see hilide myn heed.
Le acque m’hanno attorniato fino all’anima; l’abisso m’ha avvolto; le alghe mi si son attorcigliate al capo.
6 Y wente doun to the vtmeste places of hillis, the barris of erthe closiden me togidere, in to withouten ende; and thou, my Lord God, schalt reise vp my lijf fro corrupcioun.
Io son disceso fino alle radici dei monti; la terra con le sue sbarre mi ha rinchiuso per sempre; ma tu hai fatto risalir la mia vita dalla fossa, o Eterno, Dio mio!
7 Whanne my soule was angwisched in me, Y bithouyte on the Lord, that my preier come to thee, to thin hooli temple.
Quando l’anima mia veniva meno in me, io mi son ricordato dell’Eterno, e la mia preghiera è giunta fino a te, nel tuo tempio santo.
8 Thei that kepen vanytees, forsaken his merci idili.
Quelli che onorano le vanità bugiarde abbandonano la fonte della loro grazia;
9 But Y in vois of heriyng schal offre to thee; what euer thingis Y vowide, Y schal yelde to the Lord, for myn helthe.
ma io t’offrirò sacrifizi, con canti di lode; adempirò i voti che ho fatto. La salvezza appartiene all’Eterno.
10 And the Lord seide to the fisch, and it castide out Jonas `in to the drie lond.
E l’Eterno diè l’ordine al pesce, e il pesce vomitò Giona sull’asciutto.
