< Isaiah 59 >

1 Lo! the hoond of the Lord is not abreggid, that he mai not saue, nether his eere is maad hard, that he here not;
Here! not it is [too] short [the] hand of Yahweh for saving and not it is [too] heavy ear his for hearing.
2 but youre wickidnessis han departid bitwixe you and youre God, and youre synnes han hid his face fro you, that he schulde not here.
For except iniquities your they have been separating between you and between God your and sins your they have hidden face from you from hearing.
3 For whi youre hondis ben defoulid with blood, and youre fyngris with wickidnesse; youre lippis spaken leesyng, and youre tunge spekith wickidnesse.
For hands your they are defiled with blood and fingers your with iniquity lips your they have spoken falsehood tongue your injustice it mutters.
4 Noon is, that clepith riytfulnesse to help, and noon is, that demeth verili; but thei tristen in nouyt, and speken vanytees; thei conseyueden trauel, and childiden wickidnesse.
There not [is one who] calls in righteousness and there not [is one who] enters into judgment in truth [they are] trusting on emptiness and they speak worthlessness they conceive mischief and they bring forth wickedness.
5 Thei han broke eiren of snakis, and maden webbis of an yreyn; he that etith of the eiren of hem, schal die, and that that is nurschid, ether brouyt forth, schal breke out in to a cocatrice.
Eggs of a viper they have hatched and webs of a spider they weave the [one who] eats any of eggs their he will die and the pressed [egg] it is hatched a snake.
6 The webbis of hem schulen not be in to cloth, nethir thei schulen be hilid with her werkis; the werkis of hem ben vnprofitable werkis, and the werk of wickidnesse is in the hondis of hem.
Webs their not they will become clothing and not people will cover themselves with products their products their [are] products of wickedness and deed[s] of violence [is] in hands their.
7 The feet of hem rennen to yuel, and haasten to schede out innocent blood; the thouytis of hem ben vnprofitable thouytis; distriyng and defouling ben in the weies of hem.
Feet their to evil they run and they may hasten to shed blood innocent thoughts their [are] thoughts of wickedness devastation and destruction [are] on highways their.
8 Thei knewen not the weie of pees, and doom is not in the goyngis of hem; the pathis of hem ben bowid to hem; ech that tredith in tho, knowith not pees.
A way of peace not they know and there not [is] justice on tracks their paths their they have made crooked themselves any [one who] treads on it not he knows peace.
9 Therfor doom is made fer fro vs, and riytfulnesse schal not take vs; we abididen liyt, and lo! derknessis ben; we abididen schynyng, and we yeden in derknessis.
There-fore it is far justice from us and not it reaches us righteousness we wait eagerly for the light and there! darkness for gleams of light in gloom we walk.
10 We gropiden as blynde men the wal, and we as with outen iyen touchiden; we stumbliden in myddai, as in derknessis, in derk places, as deed men.
We grope for like blind [people] a wall and like there not [are] eyes we grope we have stumbled at noon like the twilight among the fat people like dead [people].
11 Alle we schulen rore as beeris, and we schulen weile thenkynge as culueris; we abididen doom, and noon is; we abididen helthe, and it is maad fer fro vs.
We growl like bears all of us and like doves certainly we moan we wait eagerly for justice and there not for deliverance it is far from us.
12 For whi oure wickidnessis ben multiplied bifore thee, and oure synnes answeriden to vs; for our grete trespassis ben with vs, and we knewen oure wickidnessis,
For they are many transgressions our before you and sins our it has testified against us that transgressions our [are] with us and iniquities our we know them.
13 to do synne, and to lie ayens the Lord. And we ben turned awei, that we yeden not aftir the bak of oure God, that we speken fals caleng, and trespassyng. We conseyueden, and spaken of herte wordis of leesyng; and doom was turned abak,
We have transgressed and we have denied Yahweh and we have turned back from after God our we have spoken oppression and rebellion we have conceived and we have uttered from [the] heart words of falsehood.
14 and riytfulnesse stood fer; for whi treuthe felle doun in the street, and equite miyt not entre.
And it has been driven back backwards justice and righteousness from a distance it stands for it has stumbled in the open place truth and honesty not it is able to enter.
15 And treuthe was maad in to foryetyng, and he that yede awei fro yuel, was opyn to robbyng. And the Lord siy, and it apperide yuel in hise iyen, for ther is no doom.
And it was truth lacking and [one who] turned aside from evil [was] plundered and he saw Yahweh and it was displeasing in view his that there not [was] justice.
16 And God siy, that a man is not, and he was angwischid, for noon is that renneth to. And his arm schal saue to hym silf, and his riytfulnesse it silf schal conferme hym.
And he saw that there not [was] anyone and he was appalled that there not [was one who] interposed and it gave victory to him own arm his and own righteousness his it it sustained him.
17 He is clothid with riytfulnesse as with an harburioun, and the helm of helthe is in his heed; he is clothid with clothis of veniaunce, and he is hilid as with a mentil of feruent worchyng.
And he put on righteousness like body armor and a helmet of salvation on head his and he put on garments of vengeance clothing and he wrapped himself like robe zeal.
18 As to veniaunce, as to yeldyng of indignacioun to hise enemyes, and to quityng of tyme to hise aduersaries, he schal yelde while to ylis.
As on deeds as on he will repay rage to opponents his recompense to enemies his to the islands recompense he will repay.
19 And thei that ben at the west, schulen drede the name of the Lord, and thei that ben at the risyng of the sunne, schulen drede the glorie of hym; whanne he schal come as a violent flood, whom the spirit of the Lord compellith.
And they may fear from [the] setting place [the] name of Yahweh and from [the] rising of [the] sun glory his for he will come like river narrow [which] [the] wind of Yahweh it will drive it.
20 Whan ayen biere schal come to Syon, and to hem that goen ayen fro wickidnesse in Jacob, seith the Lord.
And he will come to Zion a redeemer and to [those who] repent of transgression in Jacob [the] utterance of Yahweh.
21 This is my boond of pees with hem, seith the Lord; My spirit which is in thee, and my wordis whiche Y haue set in thi mouth, schulen not go awei fro thi mouth, and fro the mouth of thi seed, seith the Lord, fro hennus forth and til into with outen ende.
And I this [is] covenant my with them he says Yahweh spirit my which [is] on you and words my which I have put in mouth your not they will depart from mouth your and from [the] mouth of offspring your and from [the] mouth of [the] offspring of offspring your he says Yahweh from now and until perpetuity.
