Genesis 40
1 Whanne these thingis weren doon so, it bifelde that twei geldyngis, the boteler and the baker `of the kyng of Egipt, synneden to her lord.
Más tarde, el copero y el panadero cometieron alguna ofensa contra su amo, el rey de Egipto.
2 And Farao was wrooth ayens hem, for the toon was `souereyn to boteleris, the tother was `souereyn to bakeris.
El Faraón se enojó con estos dos oficiales reales – el copero y el panadero principal—
3 And he sente hem in to the prisoun of the prince of knyytis, in which also Joseph was boundun.
y los encarceló en la casa del comandante de la guardia, la misma prisión donde estaba José.
4 And the keper of the prisoun bitook hem to Joseph, which also `mynystride to hem. Sumdel of tyme passide, and thei weren hooldun in kepyng, and bothe sien a dreem in o nyyt,
El comandante de la guardia les asignó a José como su asistente personal. Fueron mantenidos en prisión por algún tiempo.
5 bi couenable expownyng to hem.
Una noche, mientras estaban en la cárcel, el copero y el panadero del rey de Egipto tuvieron un sueño. Eran sueños diferentes, cada uno con su propio significado.
6 And whanne Joseph hadde entrid to hem eerli, and hadde seyn hem sori,
Cuando José llegó a la mañana siguiente notó que ambos parecían deprimidos.
7 he axide hem, and seide, Whi is youre `face soriere to dai than it ys wont?
Así que le preguntó a los oficiales del faraón que estaban presos con él en la casa de su amo, “¿Por qué te ves tan deprimido?”
8 Whiche answeriden, We seiyen a dreem, and `noon is that expowneth to vs. And Joseph seide to hem, Whether expownyng is not of God? Telle ye to me what ye han seyn.
“Los dos hemos tenido sueños, pero no encontramos a nadie que nos explique lo que significan”, dijeron. Así que José les dijo, “¿No es Dios el que puede interpretar el significado de los sueños? Cuéntame tus sueños”
9 The `souereyn of boteleris telde first his dreem; Y seiy that a vyne bifore me,
El copero principal le contó a José su sueño. “En mi sueño había una vid justo delante de mí”, explicó.
10 in which weren thre siouns, wexide litil and litil in to buriounnyngis, and that aftir flouris grapys wexiden ripe,
“La vid tenía tres ramas. Tan pronto como brotaba, florecía y producía racimos de uvas maduras.
11 and the cuppe of Farao was in myn hond; therfor Y took the grapis, and presside out in to the cuppe which Y helde, and Y yaf drynk to Farao.
Yo sostenía la copa de vino del Faraón, así que recogí las uvas y las metí en la copa y se la di al Faraón”.
12 Joseph answerde, This is the expownyng of the dreem; thre siouns ben yit thre daies,
“Este es el significado”, le dijo José. “Las tres ramas representan tres días.
13 aftir whiche Farao schal haue mynde of thi seruyce, and he schal restore thee in to the firste degree, and thou schal yyue to hym the cuppe, bi thin office, as thou were wont to do bifore.
Dentro de tres días el Faraón te sacará de la cárcel y te devolverá tu trabajo, y tú le entregarás al Faraón su copa como solías hacerlo.
14 Oneli haue thou mynde on me, whanne it is wel to thee, and thou schalt do merci with me, that thou make suggestioun to Farao, that he lede me out of this prisoun;
Pero cuando las cosas te vayan bien, por favor, acuérdate de mi y habla con el Faraón en mi nombre, y por favor sácame de esta prisión.
15 for theefli Y am takun awei fro the lond of Ebrews, and here Y am sent innocent in to prisoun.
Fui cruelmente secuestrado en la tierra de los hebreos, y ahora estoy aquí en esta fosa a pesar de que no he hecho nada malo”.
16 The `maister of bakeris seiye that Joseph hadde expowned prudentli the dreem, and he seide, And Y seiy a dreem, that Y hadde thre panyeris of mele on myn heed,
Cuando el jefe de los panaderos vio que la interpretación era positiva, le dijo a José: “Yo también tuve un sueño. Tenía tres cestas de pasteles en mi cabeza.
17 and Y gesside that Y bar in o panyere, that was heiyere, alle metis that ben maad bi craft of bakers, and that briddis eeten therof.
En la cesta de arriba estaban todos los pasteles y pastas para que los comiera el Faraón, y los pájaros se los comían de la cesta de mi cabeza”.
18 Joseph answerde, This is the expownyng of the dreem; thre panyeris ben yit thre daies,
“Este es el significado”, le dijo José. “Las tres cestas representan tres días.
19 aftir whiche Farao schal take awei thin heed, and he schal hange thee in a cros, and briddis schulen todrawe thi fleischis.
Dentro de tres días el Faraón te sacará de la cárcel y te colgará en un palo, y los pájaros se comerán tu carne”.
20 Fro thennus the thridde dai was the dai of birthe of Farao, which made a greet feeste to hise children, and hadde mynde among metis on the maistir `of boteleris, and on the prince of bakeris;
Tres días más tarde era el cumpleaños del Faraón, y organizó un banquete para todos sus oficiales. Hizo que el copero y el panadero jefe fueran liberados de la prisión y llevados allí ante sus oficiales.
21 and he restoride the oon in to his place, that he schulde dresse cuppe to `the kyng,
Le devolvió el trabajo al copero jefe y volvió a sus deberes de entregar al Faraón su copa.
22 and he hangide `the tothir in a gebat, that the treuthe of `the expownere schulde be preued.
Pero colgó al jefe de los panaderos tal como José había dicho cuando interpretó sus sueños.
23 And netheles whanne prosperitees bifelden, the `souereyn of boteleris foryat `his expownere.
Pero el copero jefe no se acordó de decir nada sobre José; de hecho, se olvidó de él.
